I cruised to a halt in front of the house and pushed the car door open before stepping out, only stopping when I saw my father standing at the porch with a quite dissatisfied look on his face.

"Where have you been? I was expecting you back home so we could talk properly."

I stopped in front of him and sighed. "I'm sorry, Dad. I just— Trevor."

He pulled me into a hug and planted a soft kiss on my hair. I relaxed into him, feeling the warmth of his affection engulf me. I needed to hug my Dad often. "I'm really sorry, Lena. Neither of us expected it."

I pulled away and looked up at him. "How did it happen?"

He shrugged. "We don't have a detailed story but he went missing for three days and it had everyone worried. Lance sent a search team to look around for him and his body was found three days after—" He grimaced. "It was so terrible. He was at the cliff, his car was intact.
