LENA.

I cruised to a halt in front of the house and pushed the car door open before stepping out, only stopping when I saw my father standing at the porch with a quite dissatisfied look on his face.

"Where have you been? I was expecting you back home so we could talk properly."

I stopped in front of him and sighed. "I'm sorry, Dad. I just— Trevor."

He pulled me into a hug and planted a soft kiss on my hair. I relaxed into him, feeling the warmth of his affection engulf me. I needed to hug my Dad often. "I'm really sorry, Lena. Neither of us expected it."

I pulled away and looked up at him. "How did it happen?"

He shrugged. "We don't have a detailed story but he went missing for three days and it had everyone worried. Lance sent a search team to look around for him and his body was found three days after—" He grimaced. "It was so terrible. He was at the cliff, his car was intact. Everything else was but his life."
