I jumped over rocks, careful not to topple into the water. Over the last two weeks in training, one thing I had mastered was balance. But these rocks were so sharp that I was scared it would slice through my boot and tear my feet.

But the boot I had on was so strong, made out of virgin leather and unable to wear out. I hadn't listened to its life span when Gamma Fred began to fawn over it after handing it over to me. It had been a gift from Alpha Lance and I had later learned that it was worn by the high Rankin warriors.
