Avery’s POV The next morning I woke up feeling exhausted from crying so much and staying up late trying to think of the possible outcome of my choice. Just a few days ago, I woke up purposeful, but there was this feeling of uncertainty lurking around me again. There was this shadow of gloominess that was present in my room as I found it difficult to stand up from my bed, the only thing I felt like doing was laying on the bed all day doing nothing. Liam was the last person I wanted to see, but at the same time, I was eager to know what happened to his grandfather if they approved of me being his wife. Sighing, I scuffed my hair, All I wanted was a better life for my mom. I just wanted to be happy again, Is this too much to ask God!! This was the first time in years I called that name again, but it tasted bland on my lips after mentioning it. “No one is coming to save or help you Avery, you have been holding up on your own.” I said in a bid to cheer myself up. So I decided
Avery’s POV “Oh my lovely daughter-in-law!!” Liam’s grandmother said pulling me into a big hug. It was unbelievable as my whole body grew stiff while she wrapped her arms around me, patting my back slowly. Mr. Galloway cleared his throat then his wife quickly pulled away from my body. Immediately I walked into the house she hugged me leaving me perplexed. “Since you decided to have Avery all to yourself I chose to remind you that I was still here and Liam was here also.” he said smirking at his wife. We all laughed at his joke, then he held his hands out for me, “My daughter Avery, you are indeed a blessing to my family. The doctors commended your effort for being able to save me with your suggestions, you know I'm old now, and my heart is fragile so it would have been worse if Liam did not follow those suggestions you made. Thank you, Avery, for saving my Life.” His words sounded like a joke to me, Who am I that Liam’s grandparents would treat with so much love and care?
Avery’s POV PRESENT DAY, “Avery! It's you Avery!!” the voice of the person who I never wished I would ever come across rang in my ears, jolting me out of my thoughts. I blinked uncontrollably at the sight in front of me. She looked stunning. It felt like my whole world crumbled before my very own eyes, “Laura,” I said, but my frail voice gave me away as she began laughing hysterically with one hand on the steering wheel. I stood transfixed to the ground by the side of her Ferrari car, this was our dream car while growing up. We promised each other to get the same cars when we were a lot older and not just young teenagers, life is indeed unfair to me. What did I ever do to deserve this? Her next question left me in the dark, “Do you mind joining me in my car?” she inquired, staring at me calmly. It was obviously a trap, Laura left me when my family lost everything, leaving me all alone to take care of my sick mother whom she always claimed to be her mother while we were
Avery’s POV The sky suddenly appeared cloudy, lightning and thunderstorms blared above, and I wondered if God was angry with me tonight. Why this night when I have no means of going home? Complaining painfully, I kept walking down the path that led to my house, checking billboards and street names to make sure I was going in the right direction. Suddenly, it started raining heavily like I was the main target for the night, there was no way I could stay under any covering since I already wasted so much time speaking to Laura. Sighing, I proceeded under the rain, I knew there was no way I would not get the flu tomorrow morning. But arriving home late meant more trouble for me, so I was at crossroads. My legs felt sore and weak, but I kept walking under the unforgiving rain, it felt like my body was being lashed with wipes. Everything about my life was a mess right now and to make matters even worse, I had not visited my mom for so long because Liam refused every time I asked o
Liam’s POV My evening was perfect until she showed up at the party looking like some beggar by the roadside but it was not so bad since no one knew we were together. Avery has always been a good wife who obeys every order given to her since we got married. Most times I expected her to retaliate probably shut me up or even refuse to carry out the task, but every single time she obeyed me foolishly. I could say she is overly submissive, and I hated her for this, Avery always tried to please me at every slight chance she got, but then I wanted the drama. If only she was a little feisty and classy then all of this would not be happening, I'm not a monster but whenever Avery is involved, I just cannot help myself I enjoy making her suffer. So for the past few years, I always invite her to my after parties where she would get to watch me enjoy my life to the fullest from the sidelines. I knew it must be heartbreaking for her to see me with different women all the time whene
Avery’s POV I woke up feeling like crap, this was not new to me, but then it was different this time around. Probably I made a wrong choice by staying back even after I got an opportunity to run away last night. Sitting up I propped a pillow behind my back so I could rest my head which was banging non-stop. Anyone would call me a fool, but I really don't care, the swirl of emotions that enveloped my being last night while walking in the rain was enough for me to bolt into the night running as far as my legs could carry me to someplace that’s far away from Liam. But then again, there was this part of me that wanted to believe that the caring and sweet husband whom I married was still in there. Liam always made sure I lacked nothing and everything that would make me more comfortable was provided when we were newly wedded, everything changed after he received his first global award. At first, it was bearable since he was not so egocentric, but then the more recognition he
Avery’s POV Maria knocked on my door a few hours later which jolted me from my sleep, rubbing my eyes I yawned as she walked into my room with a lunch tray. She smiled before placing it gently on the table, “Thank you, Maria,” I said smiling. “You must eat to stay healthy, my lady, I made you pasta.” Without hesitating I got out of bed, in no time I was done with the whole plate of pasta that was sitting innocently on the table. I undeniably had a crazy appetite. “Maria that pasta was delicious I would not mind having some in the evening. Thanks to you, I feel a lot better than when I woke up this morning, If you don't mind me asking is Liam at home?” I inquired calmly. Maria smiled at me before retorting calmly, “Yes my lady, Sir Liam is in his study. He has been there all day, but he left a few minutes ago to freshen up in his room. It seems he is about to go out.” “Thank you, Maria, I need to take my bath now. Those pills were quite effective, I slept almost immedia
Liam’s POV There was never a day I enjoyed peace in my home just because I decided to get married to someone from the slum. Avery was the worst decision I've made in a long time, just as the popular saying goes, “I would have to live by the choice I made.” Sighing, I stepped out of my car and walked into Laura’s house which was located at one of the Elite residential areas in the city. This has been my safe haven since we started dating, every time I wanted to rest and have a fun time Laura’s house is always the best place for that. There she was, my beautiful model standing by the front door with a warm smile on her face, “Welcome my love.” she said softly pulling me in a hug. Her soft jasmine cologne filled my nostrils, this is something every man is entitled to enjoy not some Avery drama all the time. That woman is driving me nuts, every time it is about plotting one evil plan or another just to teach her a lesson. “You smell so good, baby, I can take you right here an
