Chapter four: Mommy, who is that man

Maverick

I had just stepped out of the restroom when my cellphone buzzed with a ring, I took it in my hand, and answered the call. "Yes, what's the update?" I asked Alex my assistant at the other end.

"Sir, I've got in contact with them and there were already submissions coming in, he'd like you to see them for yourself." Alex said.

"Good. I will go check it right away, and you should arrange my flight, I will be going back today."

I hung up the phone and turned to leave, but that was when I saw a little boy, no more than three years old, with curly black hair, his golden eyes was staring into mine, he was hugging my leg with his tiny arms. I couldn't help but smile at the sight.

"Hey there, little guy," I said, planning to ask if he was lost, I don't know why but I felt a sense of familiarity with this boy.

But before I could do any of that, a woman rushed into the hallway, her eyes frantically scanning the area until they landed on the child. And then, they landed on me.

Her expression was instantly changed from worry to shock, and she froze, her beautiful black eyes was locked on mine.

And for a moment my heart skipped a beat during the stare, and everything came rushing back, It was the woman from that night. I didn't know her name, but I remembered her face, her body, and the way she'd made me feel.

That night was etched in my memory the way she moved, the way she felt, the way she tasted. It was an experience I had never felt before.

But when I woke up the next morning, she was gone. I searched everywhere for her, but it was as if she had never existed.

I couldn't find any trace of her, no phone number, no address, no name. It was as if she had been a ghost.

But now, here she was, standing in front of me, looking just as beautiful as she was that night. And with a child whom I could tell at a glance was her own.

After searching for her, but to no avail, i realized that our encounter that night had been nothing but a chance meeting.

But no matter how hard I tried to get her off my mind, I couldn't, I even tried to recreate the memory but none matched it because all I could remember was the way she had been that night, although a drunken mess, but still, she had captivated me.

And now, seeing her again, I knew I couldn't let her go. Fate had brought us together twice, and I wasn't going to ignore the signs.

I made a decision then and there. I would do everything in my power to take her back, to make her mine. I don't care if she resisted, even if she didn't remember me, I would claim her, and make her mine.

Ember

His words caught me off guard, and I felt a surge of heat rise to my cheeks. He remembers me? I didn't think he'd recall that night, but it turned out he hadn't forgotten about it one bit.

"Bunny.." he hoarsely called again.

"I don't appreciate the nickname, sir," I said, my voice firm but polite. "I don't recall my name being that."

He smirked, and release my arm, but before I could create any distance, his arms wrapped around my waist from behind, pulling me close to his chest. "Running away again?"

His breath whispered against my neck, sending shivers down my spine as it brushed against my bare neck.

I stiffened, trying to break free, but he held me firm. This isn't good, I had to get out of here as soon as possible, "Respect my boundaries, sir. This isn't appropriate." I said between gritted teeths.

I don't want to linger around here, but he spun me to face him. His eyes once again locked onto mine, his head slowly descending. So i raised my legs, threateningly. "I mean it, and I'm going to kick you if you don't let me go."

Even with my threat he firmly pressed my back again, even more tighter, putting me in a more disadvantageous state.

Before I could tell what was going on, his lips had already brushed pass my nose. "Remember this? You remember it don't you?"

For some unknown reason, I felt the heat radiating from his body on mine, his fingers slowly brushed my hair and tucked them around my ear,

My face was flushed red as I on an impulse shut my eyes, and bit my lips hard turning my face away, but he released one hand and bring my face back in place, his finger in process brush against my nose,

I could feel him leaning closer, but it was at that moment that he released me and laughed, "You don't think I was going to kiss you, do you?"

I jabbed my knee into his crotch. "Sick perverted bastar..." A hand covered my mouth, preventing the completion of that word. "It isn't nice to cuss in front of a child, don't you think?"

My embarrassment intensified when I turned to see my son there staring innocently, but confusedly at us, therefore I glared at the man, and quickly rushed to Kai's side.

"Kai, let's go," I whispered, trying to usher him away. I haven't met anyone act so shameless and uncultured.

But before we could go, the man's voice called out behind me. "Don't go just yet, tell me your name."

I was unwilling to share my name, at least not to someone like him who doesn't know what privacy means. But he was already striding towards me, I could only stood my ground, and said with a straight face.

"I'd prefer not to share my name. And let's be clear, what you did just now was disrespectful. I appreciate seeing my son, but that doesn't give you the right to touch me."

Kai, sensing the tension, clung to my leg. I placed a reassuring hand on his shoulder, trying to shield him from the uncomfortable situation.

"Don't come any closer." I scooped Kai up and clutched him tightly to my chest and started walking away, very fast that is, I was really desperate to escape the uncomfortable encounter.

But this man is unwilling to give up as I heard his strides behind me.

I could also feel his eyes on me, making my skin prickle with unease.

"Mommy who is that man?" Kai asked me. As I continue to walk even faster.

"So you don't know whom he was when you were hugging his legs, what do I told you about strangers?"

"I'm sorry mommy.. I couldn't find you and I wanted to go back to mommy."

I was about to respond to Kai,

But his voice followed me, "Your child is really cute, and he has a very lovely eyes, don't you think?" The comment sent a shiver down my spine. I was really hoping he wouldn't see the color of kai's eyes, it was the same as his. After all he was his father.

Exactly why I'm more worried because the last thing I want is someone claiming my son and separating us, after all, I didn't know this man and his identity.

I could only blame my stupid self for seeking warmth in the embrace of another man after being drenched in cold water from the man I thought was mine.

Luckily I got out of the hallway, but what he said next take my breath away.
