Ember
I didn't wait any minute before hugging Kai even tighter to myself and fled the place. I could feel his burning gaze on me, until I entered into the taxi and it drove away from the company. By the time I arrived at silver fang pack it was almost afternoon, I head directly to the pack estate where I lived with Lyra, Alpha Jordan and some of the omegas in the pack, I entered and plopped myself on the couch, Something smells delicious, and judging by the aroma from the food coming from the kitchen, it could only mean one thing. I stood at the kitchen entrance for sometime, Lyra whipped her head to look at me the moment she noticed I was there. Her hair had now been styled beautifully, her eyes were also shining brightly, the woman had put enough effort into looking more beautiful. "Where is he?" I asked looking around as I released Kai hand so he would go and play with his friends in the estate. "How did you know he has already arrived?" She raised her eyebrows as she picked up a knife, skillfully chopping the vegetables. I rolled my eyes then I entered the kitchen, leaning against the cabinet, "I mean it's not everyday you see Luna Lyra Moon in the kitchen, and cooking that is, unless someone is home." I concluded with a grin and I could see the redness at the tip of her ear deepening. She hadn't responded when I heard; "Papa." I heard Kai beamed, as I turned to look in his direction, didn't Kai go to play with his friends? I saw him rushing to meet a man, his tall and strong appearance might deceive someone into thinking he was still in his thirties. Alpha Jordan ink deep black eyes glanced in my direction. "Alpha Jordan." I walked up to him with a smile. He already has Kai in his arms as he pinches his cheeks, "Growing fatter eh? Men should be fit and firm, just take a look at your papa, I'm still more than handsome even at this age." "Kai is cute, not fat." He protested with his mouth pouting at Alpha Jordan as he turned his head to the opposite direction. I laughed at his actions and went to his side, but the man also pulled me into his warm embrace and patted my back, "My beautiful Ember, how have you been?" Kai, who was still pouting, now calmly nestled in his arms, clearly unhappy about being teased. Jordan knew Kai's sensitive spots, and that the "fat" comment always hit a nerve. "Don't be sulky, my boy," Alpha Jordan whispered, "You know I love you, and even though papa said he's handsome, do you know the most handsome?" He shook his head. "The most handsome is Kai." Kai's scowl deepened, but a hint of a smile now played on his lips. Alpha jordan kissed Kai's cheeks, then turned to Lyra, who was busy cooking in the kitchen. The aroma of foods being prepared wafted through the air, making my stomach growl with hunger. "Did you feed my boy this morning?" Alpha Jordan asked in a gentle voice sitting in on a chair. "Yes." I replied to him. As I also took a seat. "You can all head to the table now. I'll be serving the food shortly." Lyra called from the kitchen. We made our way to the table, I glanced over at Lyra in the kitchen, then I sat Kai down at the dinner table before going over to help her with the servings but she quietly snapped at me, "You go back! I don't need any help, now that my husband is back, I want to prove my skills, and mind you I won't let anyone, not even you take part of the credits." I laughed and waved my hands in surrender, "Of course you can do it as much as you can, don't just tire yourself out because of credits he had already given to you even before the food touched the table." She pursed her lips then pushed me out of the kitchen, "Go and attend to Kai, the boy might need you. Moreover you knew how much I loved cooking." "Really?" I asked teasingly, but Lyra only glared in return so I returned to the dining room and took a seat next to Kai. Soon Lyra brought several dishes to the table and started to arrange them. "You should've let the omegas handle the serving, even if you love cooking so much, I don't want my wife stressing herself over cooking." Lyra's face relaxed into a warm, and calm smile. Her eyebrows were slightly raised as she shrugged and replied, "I want to do it, so just sit back and enjoy." Whenever Alpha Jordan is not around, Lyra wouldn't step into the kitchen to cook, but whenever Alpha Jordan is around, she'll be ready to cook the ocean and fry mountains even though Alpha didn't want her to be stressed out. "Give more pancakes to my little boy," Alpha Jordan said to Lyra who was serving the food. I glanced at him, people would doubt it wasn't him just now teasing the boy that he's getting fat. "But the one on his plate is enough... He can barely finish it." Lyra explained. "Kai wants more pancakes." He squealed. She rolled her eyes and put one more in his plate, then she sit. We started eating in silence, I guess he arrived not too long ago as Lyra leaned in and began to ask Alpha Jordan, "How's the food management thing going?" Alpha Jordan's face lit up with a warm smile as he dug into his food. "I was going to that, but I thought it should be after eating, but now that you've mentioned it, I'll just say whatever it is, we just landed this huge deal with a major corporation to build a solar farm. I'm talking huge, Lyra. And it's all thanks to Ember's idea that we used for my company." The moment I heard my name, my hand movements slowed a little. A few months ago when Jordans business was going downhill and it was affecting the pack, after all his company supplied the pack foods, I had suggested making use of energy harvesting system to grow the plant. But him saying it now, I guess it worked. He took a bite, savoring the flavors before continuing, "She figured out a way to make using solar panels way more efficient. And we can even use less land. It's a total win-win." Lyra turned to me and said, "We couldn't thank you enough for how you've been helping us, I'm really grateful for that." "You don't have to say thank you Lyra, you've also helped me more than I could ever pay back by giving ideas that happen to work. I should be grateful to you for accommodating me and Kai and in addition, treating us with love, I can't thank you enough for that." Lyra smiled as she prepared to respond, my phone buzzed with a ring. It's my business line, so I placed down the fork and swallowed the food in my mouth before picking it up, "Hello, it's Ember Flynn on the line, who am I speaking with?" "Josey Wales from Relies exhibitions, I'm calling to announce to you that your submission has been accepted and you can come to the company tomorrow to sign the contract." The moment the call ended, my eyes widened, I hadn't expected this, even though I submitted my proposal, I don't expect to be picked, at least my company just started about a year ago and has not expanded largely, so I just submit the proposal for submission sake, I hadn't expected mine to be selected when there are more huge companies who submitted. I couldn't help but question, why me? But I was also excited as I drank a glass of water to calm myself down then announced it with that same excitement, "My submission just got accepted.”I woke up the next day and quickly prepared myself to go to the company. Fortunately, Alpha Jordan wanted Kai to stay with him, since he'll be at home all day with Lyra. Just that I was a little nervous to run into that man again, I don't think I can hide from him, most especially those piercing golden eyes staring into my black ones as if searching for the truth. Furthermore, there was even this dangerous feeling I got from him when I was close to him that day, my senses were yelling at me to run, but there was also this allure too. Pushing my hair backward, I packed it and applied gloss on my lips before grabbing my bag. Alpha Jordans Beta, Chris, will be taking me that morning. I slipped into the car as it drove away from the estate. In no time we were already in the company, "Thank you so much for the ride, you don't have to wait for me, I might take a lot later, so I'll be taking a cab back." "Alright." He nodded and drove away. I also walked into the company before
Ember."Bunny." It was that same nickname I told him I hated a lot, however I had to be professional at this instance, and looking around, we were surrounded by workers, so I'm sure he wouldn't try anything funny with me. His black shirt had two buttons undone, and his black hair was styled differently today, "It's fancy running into you here." He stretched his pocketed hand for a handshake which I took. His hand was cold, but I kept my composure as I took back my hand from his and replied with a smile, "Of course it was." I'm not really sure about that because with him here, I wanted to get out of here as soon as possible.Who would believe we're running into each other? but I just couldn't get what he wanted with all of this so I asked, "Are you also a worker here?" He laughed and suddenly stopped, "No, I just came to check things, but it was such a coincidence to run into you here. A good one I
Maverick I stood by the window, gazing out at the garden downward as I sensed someone's presence behind me, his steps was drawing closer, I turned to look at the person. "Ryder," My face gather up a frown. Alex would have to answer why this man was allowed in my house, "Good to see you, Maverick, It's been a while." He grinned. "What brings you here?" I asked curtly, shifting my gaze back to the window. I didn't want to get into small talk. At least not with this one. I heard him exhaled and plopped himself into my sofa, "Not even a drink?" Seeing I didn't reply, he began to say, "Well I'm just worried about your latest venture, I mean weren't you putting a lot on the line?" My gut tightened, as my jaw clenched in irritation. Ryder was one of the few people I could call acquaintances, considering we've known each other for a while now, and I've known him enough to knew he wasn't here for a chitchat. "I believe what I do wasn't any of your business, " "Maverick, ev
Ember I couldn't wrap my head over what Kai said, things like this never happened to him. Kai was the type of boy that shared his things with his friends. Even if his friend did something bad to him, he'd rather keep it to himself to save the friend from getting into trouble. So I was baffled by what he said. "Don't be scared alright? Mommy is here, and you have to promise not to listen to it when it tells you to do bad things alright?" With a gentle tug, I pulled him closer, my eyebrow quivering upward as I rubbed his back in soothing circles. I'm more than worried right now, Kai wasn't old enough to meet his wolf, so how could there possibly be a voice whispering something to him? And to do bad things that is. "Mommy, Kai is hungry and wants a dumpling." He suddenly said, his voice muffled by the fabric I'm wearing. "I will get you dumplings, just stay here and let me change my dress," I said as I sat him on the bed in the room, I quickly took off my dress and threw on a c
Ember"I thought you were going to a party." I asked Clara who was now walking to where I was with that same astonishment on her face."I should be asking you that, oh... Wait, now I understand, but you should've told me that you're refusing to come with me because you're actually coming with a date." My brow furrowed as I tried to make sense of Clara's words. I replayed our conversation in my head, I didn't tell her about a date, in fact I don't have any date, and I'm not even attending the party so what...? "I didn't have a date, and this is the hotel where I'm staying for the time being." I pointed out as she exclaimed loudly, "oh." Then her face suddenly switched, the confusion written off her face was gone, now replaced by her brightened face staring at me as she said, "That's great! This is actually the party, since you're here, I'm sure you can have a brief glance at the party, you can just show up with me for a few minutes before going back, I promise it's going to be fun."
Flashback I rushed into the dining room when I heard Derek's car, I hurriedly arranged the table and cups properly, before taking another spree into the kitchen, I washed my hands and dried them with the hand towels then I hung them back. I smiled, everything was in place, dessert has been made, the cake was baked, and the meal was also prepared. I took a great time that morning grilling the steaks and making sure it was all greasy and a little spicy, just as Derek liked them. His footsteps grew closer, by the time the doorknob twisted and he stepped a foot in, the foil cutout I made shouting… “Welcome back daddy, and happy birth—day” the rest of the words came out almost mechanically as a pair of black heels stepped into the sitting room. Derek stood at 6.2ft tall. His black hair was just like mine, soft and smooth. I'd helped him dry and combed them when I was little. Derek took the hand of the brunette woman behind him and brought her to my side. There was something about thei
Ember I stepped into the High Moon Pack house, that night, the full moon was hung low in the sky. My face was exceptionally filled with a bright smile because my mate, Rowan Gray, would finally claim me as his tonight, unlike most wolves, I didn't met my mate when I turned eighteen, it was after I turned twenty that I knew that Rowan Gray, the son of Alpha Hudson Gray, my packs Alpha was my mate. And our love, eversince has been proceeding greatly, even though he hasn't marked me, but tonight is going to be the night, I will finally wear his mark. For this reason, my face was brimming with a bright smile. I opened the door to his room, searching for him, just like I always did, but instead of finding him sitting on his desk working on the paperwork's, or resting on his bed like he mostly does, my eyes landed on a scene that made my heart shatter into a million pieces. Before me was Rowan Gray, on the bed naked, and was passionately indulging another woman, they were so en
Ember His angular facial feature was hidden under the red and blue light making him look more mysterious and unpredictable. "Bunny.." His low voice was husky and deep, sounding as seductive as not his straight face."let go." I sneered coldly. However, his silence was a fuel to my already burning rage. "Let go you bastard!" I banged my fists on his chest for a good amount of time, but he doesn't budge which angers me more. "You asshole Rowan!! Why won't you just let me rest, why have you come after me again? I ran from you, why won't you just fucking stop!" Fresh tears spilled out my face as I vent my anger on him, but he didn't stopped me, instead he let me do it. I rolled my eyes and effortlessly pushed him back, his grip on my waist releasing on their own accord. My hands blindly moved about as it touched what I was looking for, i grabbed a bottle of wine on the table next to me, and handed it to him, "Open it for me." I wasn't expecting him to take the wine, but in
