Chapter six: Back to Arizona

I woke up the next day and quickly prepared myself to go to the company.

Fortunately, Alpha Jordan wanted Kai to stay with him, since he'll be at home all day with Lyra. Just that I was a little nervous to run into that man again, I don't think I can hide from him, most especially those piercing golden eyes staring into my black ones as if searching for the truth.

Furthermore, there was even this dangerous feeling I got from him when I was close to him that day, my senses were yelling at me to run, but there was also this allure too.

Pushing my hair backward, I packed it and applied gloss on my lips before grabbing my bag. Alpha Jordans Beta, Chris, will be taking me that morning. I slipped into the car as it drove away from the estate.

In no time we were already in the company, "Thank you so much for the ride, you don't have to wait for me, I might take a lot later, so I'll be taking a cab back."

"Alright." He nodded and drove away.

I also walked into the company before me after taking a deep breath, and approached the receptionist, I asked for directions to the boss's office. She looked up from her screen, smiled, and pointed me towards the elevator. "Third floor, straight down the hall. You can't miss it."

I thanked her and stepped into the elevator, feeling a slight flutter in my chest. This was it – the moment I'd been waiting for. The doors opened on the third floor, and I was immediately struck by the sleek, modern decor. The boss's office was at the far end of the hall, with a glass door that offered a glimpse into a spacious, beautiful room.

The moment I entered, the boss stood up from behind his mahogany desk, his eyes crinkling at the corners as he smiled. " Ember Flynn if I'm not wrong? Welcome. I've been expecting you." His handshake was firm, but not crushing – a good sign, I thought.

We exchanged pleasantries, and I couldn't help but notice how nervous he seemed. He fidgeted with his pen, his eyes darting around the room before settling on mine. I wondered inwardly why he was acting so strange around me when In truth i should be the nervous one, but I pushed the thought aside and focused on the task at hand.

He handed me a folder containing the contract, his hands brushing against mine in the process. "Please, take a look. Let us know if you're interested in proceeding." His tone was respectful, almost deferential – which confused me even more.

I scanned the terms and conditions, my eyes widening as I realized the scope of the project. This was big – really big.

I nodded, took a deep breath, and signed on the dotted line. "All good," I said, handing it back to him.

He smiled, relief written across his face. "Excellent. We'll be in touch soon, Miss Ember." And with that, our meeting was over. I left the office, contract in hand, feeling accomplished.

I entered the cab after giving him directions. I leaned back into the car seat, but my phone dinged, bringing me out of my thoughts.

It was Erica, my assistant.

[Hi, Ember. I hope you're doing well, I'd like to take a leave of absence for a week, I got a message from home that my grandmother health is unstable, I want to visit her so I can care for her]

[Of course, Erica. Take all the time you need. And please give your grandmother my warm regards, I hope she feels better soon] I replied to her and turned off my phone.

I soon got out of the cab and went straight into the house. Alpha Jordan and Lyra were really happy to learn that I just got a contract with one of the most successful companies in Florida.

The day went by quickly as I went to bed with Kai, the next day, I was getting ready to go and check on the estate that needed interior design since the time given was not that long, so I had to finished everything as soon as I could, and since Erica is now away, my workload had drastically multiple.

I took out the documents handed to me and checked the location on it, only to have my eyes almost bulging out of my skull..

The State I saw in the paper made my jaw drop. How could it be Arizona of all places!!

What I had in mind was it would be here in Florida, but Arizona? I don't want to go back to that place, all of my bad memories were there, but if only I could take back the documents I signed yesterday.

Who signed a contract without reading it properly? Only an overly excited me, How could I have made such a dumb mistake!

And if Erica were here, I would've sent her to overlook things there while I managed the rest from here, but with this... I could only sigh with defeat before packing my things I'll be needing for the next week. Kai's things included.

"Mommy, what's wrong.. ?" Kai asked, staring at me.

I ruffled his hair and said, "it's nothing mommy is fine."

I later got out of my room to explain things to Lyra and Alpha Jordan.

Arizona

I got out of the taxi and paid the driver. During the ride from the airport to this hotel, I noticed everything had changed, the state is no longer what it was when I left four years ago, the roads, most building's, everything had changed a lot.

I handed the cash to the driver who drove away then gazed at the hotel in front of me, large and beautiful. I entered with Kai still held by me and we walked up to the receptionists. "Hi, I have a booking here. And I'd like to check in."

She flashed a bright smile, "Welcome! May I have your name, please?"

"It's Ember Flynn, online booking." I had booked this hotel, not only because of its appearance, but because it was far from a high moon pack house and the daycare system is really good. I got that from the reviews.

"Give me a few moments. Let me just check..." She began to type on the computer before her, then she grabbed one key from the rows arranged behind her, "Okay, here you are. Room 314. Here's your key."

"Thank you."

"You're welcome! The elevator is just down the hall. Enjoy your stay!"

"Thanks." I replied and took the key then we headed towards the elevator.

Kai was looking around the hotel lobby with his eyes darting around, " Is this a new place, Mommy?"

"No, sweetie, I'll just be staying here for a week, and then we'll go back home."

He nodded cutely and said, "Okay."

I couldn't help but smile and give him a reassuring touch on the shoulder, "It's just a temporary stop, but it's a nice place, isn't it?"

He looks around again, then he nods "Yeah..."

By now, it was around 3pm in the afternoon, I placed my things inside the room then I took Kai to the daycare right in the hotel, before going to the address on the documents.

The car stopped at a very huge estate in a remote area. It was so huge that I found it a little hard to believe that it belonged to an individual. It was even larger than the Highmoon Pack house, and the silver fang pack estate in Florida.

Nevertheless, I paid the taxi and walked towards the estate.

I had to hand over my personal ID card before I was allowed by the people guarding the estate, too much security.

I was only here to check the interior and to take in what I'll be designing, since the already built estate only lacked interior design,

I walked through the empty rooms with some of the construction workers, taking mental notes and scribbling down the relevant details in my notebook.

"Thanks so much for showing me around, and I will be seeing you tomorrow." I turned to them after checking the last room for that day.

One of the workers, a friendly-looking guy with a thick beard, smiled and replied, "No worries at all, we will be happy to help. If you need anything else, just give us a shout."

I smiled back, feeling grateful for taking me around and introducing me to the estate, "Will do, but I will be going back now, thanks again!" I said, tucking my notebook into my bag, heading out.

But, I felt cold running down from my head down my toes when I saw a familiar face of that man, he was smiling good naturedly and said with an ever there grin, "What a coincidence running into you here.”
