The Heir

Jayden's POV

“Won't you fulfill your grandfather's last wishes?” Damien asked.

I stared at the scenery in front of me. I was in my penthouse. I didn't want to indulge in the conversation,I turned to look at him.

“I can't.” I took my seat.

“You've been away from home for five years now,I think you've done enough.”

“Front sanity yes, when I left I was no longer Jayden Dark if that's what you want to know.” I frowned at him.

My family was a messed one. It was an extended one due to the struggle for power and the position my parents were murdered. My uncle and aunt too are currently battling with the inheritance my grandfather left.

The Dark Ocean Group was founded by my ancestors and has been passed from generation to generation. Now my dead grandfather has messed up my life by passing it to me making me the heir.

“Don’t be a cold hearted bastard, what would the press say?” Damien tried to change my mind.

“Do you think I care?” I scoffed.

“Want some wine?” I went to the cellar.

I wanted to change the topic of our conversation. I wasn't going back home when I left the house that day,I left everything behind and I’ve been doing perfectly fine since then I can still vividly remember the looks on their faces including my grandfather who acted so cowardly by making me the heir.

“How's Linda?” I poured the wine.

“Don't act so tough Jayden,I know deep down you still have some heart in you.” He took the glass.

“Really?” I sat opposite and sipped my wine.

“What do you think she will say if she sees you right now?”

“What do you think she is feeling seeing you acting like this?”

“Stop it Damien.” My grip was tight in the glass.

“Why should I bother you couldn't fulfill her wish? I was a fool thinking you will fulfill Mr Carl's wishes either.”

“GET THE HELL OUT OF MY HOUSE!!” I threw the glass on the wall in anger.

“Let me know when you are going back to America.” He walked outside.

I clenched my fist in anger Damien knew how much that hurt he knew it was a nerve something that has been eating me up and he successfully ruined my day..

I took my phone and called my secretary

“I'll be going back to America tomorrow.”

“Sir…what?”

“I don't repeat myself.” I ended the call.

“Damien…you.. bastard.” I slumped on the couch.

*******************************

The flight from China back to America wasn't what I presumed Damien kept staring at me throughout our time on airi couldn't help but roll my eyes at his attitude. He was thinking that I would change my mind now that I'm on the plane.

“What's with the noise?” I put on the sunglasses.

“Apparently you are popular and wealthy so people are trooping into the airport to welcome you sir.” Felix, my secretary , answered.

“Is there no other route?” I stopped walking.

“Come on, all you have to do is wave to them how hard can it be.” Damien chuckled..

“Very hard.”

“I hate people, you know that.” I glared at him.

“He doesn't mean it.” He whispered to Felix.

My bodyguards did an excellent job in preventing them from touching me but they couldn't stop the noisy reporters from asking questions.

“Mr Jayden Dark can you please answer some questions?” A bold woman managed to approach me.

“Nope.” I replied.

“Is it true that you own a fashion agency?”

“Is it true that you are the heir to the Dark Ocean Group now?”

“Are you currently in a romantic relationship?”

“Are you in any way planning to go into politics?”

“Is it true that you are involved with the Scorpion Mafia Group?” Damien tensed at the question but quickly masked his expression.

It was until we got to where the Ocean Group official cars were that the reporters stopped following us.

“The Dark Ocean Group loves flaunting their wealth.” Damien gnawed at the assembled cars and the red carpet.

“More of a welcoming party for the prodigal son.” I looked at him.

“Mr Jayden Dark, welcome back.” A middle-aged Butler bowed in reference.

“What's with the charade?” I walked away from him and entered the Limousine prepared for me.

“You really can't be pleased.” Damien followed me.

It took more than an hour before we got to the family house. I was told that they had proceeded with the funeral since I refused to show up at least one more drama away from my plate.

“We are here Mr Dark.” The butler announced.

I stepped down from the car only to see the maids and bodyguards lined up. They bowed as soon as they saw me, they must be thinking that I was going to live here. I shook my head and walked inside.

“Jayden!!!” A young lady screeched as soon as I entered the main living room.

“Who is she?” I asked the butler.

“Your youngest cousin.” The butler bowed.

“Cousin?” I arched my eyebrows.

“You are here.” A familiar voice spoke.

“YOU DIDN'T TELL ME HE WAS GOING TO BE HERE?” I glared at the butler.
