The Will.

Jayden's POV

When I saw Jordan in the house it infuriated me he is my step brother and the relationship I have with him wasn't a good one…he was the good child why I was the bad one the black sheep of the family Mr Carl had disposed him of his position in the group he had embezzled some funds and his conduct wasn't a good one.

My uncle, aunt came running back when they heard of my arrival the lawyer was here also. Damien stepped out since it was a family issue.

“We'll begin the signing process.” The lawyer spoke up.

“Jayden, are you really going to sign it?” Teresa, my aunt , asked.

My grandfather had three children. My dad was the first, followed by Philip and Teresa. Philip had three children. If I recall , Teresa had two children. My dad had two. I and Jordan, apparently he was an illegitimate child my dad had him before he got married to my mother.

Jordan was my nemesis if I must say he received most attention from the family he was the good child,my mother did all to satisfy him she didn't want people to misunderstand the relationship that she wasn't taken good care of him because he wasn't her child,She loved him more than she loved her child.

“Why shouldn't I?” I arched my eyebrows.

Mr Carl had made me the heir ,it was suspicious though because I cut all ties with him he should have made Philip the heir or Teresa but his letter said they weren't capable enough and he trusted me more.

If I wanted to find out the truth about what happened that night I needed unlimited access to the Dark Ocean Group and that was why I decided to accept his decision.

“Dad…must…have…made…a mistake, look at the will again!” She yelled at the lawyer.

“Calm down Teresa.” Philip pulled her closer.

I held the bridge of my nose in anger, I wasn't after their money I had established my own fashion company and I'm doing incredibly well if not for the motive I had in mind I wouldn't be here.

“Are you just going to let him take everything we've worked for!!!” She shifted away from Philip.

“It's father's last wish,we have to honor it.” He replied through gritted teeth.

“Do you know what I went through to make the Ocean Hotel the way it is now? I practically went through hell so are you telling me I did that for nothing!!!”

“He doesn't even know anything about business not to talk of managing an empire, I even heard that he was involved in some sort of Mafia Group!!”

“We can't allow him to have his way!!” She said everything in a breath.

I wasn't fazed by her actions ,I had expected this to happen when Teresa was done ranting, the lawyer spoke up.

“Mr Jayden Dark shall we continue?” He asked as if I was the only sensible one in the gathering.

“Please do.” I motioned for him to.

The lawyer was a man of advanced age with a stern expression. He adjusted his glasses and cleared his throat before reading from the document in his hands.

"As per the last will and testament of the late Mr. Carl, the bulk of the estate, including the family business, shall be bequeathed to his eldest son’s last child Mr Jayden Dark. He will assume full control as the primary heir, holding the majority of the shares and all associated powers."

A murmur rippled through the room, disbelief and resentment evident in the eyes of those seated. The lawyer continued, his tone unyielding.

"The remaining shares, significantly reduced in comparison, will be distributed equally among the rest of the family, with limited voting rights. These shares are to be held as passive assets, without influence over the company's direction or operations."

He closed the will with a finality that left no room for dispute, the weight of the decision settling heavily on those present. All eyes turned to me, now I was the undisputed heir, the room was filled with a tense silence.

“Congratulations Brother!!” Jordan clapped, breaking the silence.

“I’m done here.” I stood up, adjusted my tuxedo and walked out gracefully.

“How come I didn't hear the sound of gunshots?” Damien asked as soon as I got out.

“So?”

“I agreed.” I looked at him.

“Yes.” He threw some punches to the air.

“Where is my Car?” I asked Felix.

He led me to a Tesla Damien was grinning and I knew he is upto no good.

“So I've been thinking of this investment.” He spoke up.

Now I know why he was bent on me accepting the inheritance. I rolled my eyes and picked up my tablet and scrolled through my mails.

“So?”

“If it's worth it I'll see it.” I glanced at Damien then continued with my work.

"I need you to find a penthouse in New York, something exclusive. Money is no object." I told Felix who was driving.

"Of course, sir. Any specific requirements? Views, amenities?"

"Privacy is the priority. I don't want neighbors, and I want the best security. The rest... Make it impressive."

I didn't want the noisy reporters and the way the Dark family were acting, I needed tight security.

"Understood. I'll have a shortlist ready by the end of the day. Should I arrange a visit to view them in person?"

"Yes, but discreetly. This needs to stay off the radar until I'm ready to announce my move."

"I'll make sure it's handled quietly. Anything else you'd like?" He looked at me through the rearview mirror.

"Just make sure it's perfect." I answered.

“So there is this VIP CLUB in town.” Damien smirked.

“They are hot chicks also.” He whispered.

“I'm not interested.” I pushed him away slightly.

“Still not over her yet?” I glared at him.

“I don't take betrayal for granted, you know that.” I closed the tab.

“One more thing I have gotten over her, I'm not just in the mood for clubbing.” I told him.

“Then?” He asked.

“There is this place I have to be.” I murmured sadly.
