The Confrontation

LEAH’S POV

My body went still as Hudson’s words cut through the night air like a blade. I felt cold all over, my mind scrambling to process what he had just said.

“W-what do you mean?” I stammered, desperately trying to keep my voice steady but I couldn’t mask the tremor in my tone. I felt confused and troubled, haunted by his words.

Hudson’s eyes bore into mine. His gaze was dark and intense, holding me captive, and it only made my heart pound even more loudly against my chest.

“The kids…” Hudson finally spoke again. His voice was low and deliberate as he trailed off. But his next question was enough to send me out of my wits.

“Are they ours?”

I took a step back, trying to distance away from him only to feel another strong pair of arms wrapping around my waist from behind.

“Scared?” I shivered, feeling bolts of electric shock rushing through my whole body from his touch. It was Brixton who was now behind me, locking me in his strong embrace. “You want to escape, huh?”
