Chapter 27: Flustered

LEAH’S POV

“She’s just our sister, Leah.”

Seeing the amusement in Brixton’s eyes made me feel so embarrassed. I felt so foolish with my sudden assumptions, wishing the ground to swallow me up.

“Oh, is that so…” I cleared my throat and avoided his gaze, trying to mask the shame. But then, I heard him chuckle again.

“Will you go with us now?”

My palms grew sweaty as I felt his hot, probing gaze on my face. I bet he was still wearing that amused smile. He always never misses an opportunity to tease me, and that realization made my cheeks burn.

“I really need to go.”

I desperately wanted to escape the situation. The events last night were still fresh on my memory. I remember them being mad and frustrated after I refused to tell them about my dealings with David. But now, Brixton seemed to have moved on from it. He was back at teasing me again and his demeanor suggests that all was forgiven or forgotten.
