Prologue.

_____

Alpha Akkar Silver, the Northern ruler of the Denilis Pack looked around his palace one day and a tear fell from his eyes. The kingdom he had ruled for years failed to get better and he had heard the disgruntled reports from his people.

He needed resources to be able to maintain his position as an Alpha, else, the rumors that went around saying he was bad luck would in no time vote him out of the throne.

So he set out, without informing anyone -even his wife, to the southern part of their world to seek help.

The Southern and Northern Islands had never beheld a reason to encounter each other. This was because the Southerners were considered predators and the Northerners, prey. The Southerners were ruled by demons and not just any demon, the incubus demons - that fed on women's lust especially while they slept. They were sexual predators.

Reaching the South, Akkar headed to the palace of their King requesting a meeting. He was approved and he proceeded to meet King Cody, King of the South.

"I thought I was being bamboozled when I heard about your arrival" King Cody strode into the throne room with three naked women running after him.

Akkar studied the pattern in his shoes, wolf's loyalty running through his veins. He never saw any other woman naked besides his wife.

Cody, seeing how distracting it might be to this Northern ruler in his throne room, dispersed the women.

"What brings you here?"

"I run the North. You must have heard about me…"

"The only thing I heard about the North is their poverty."

Akkar let out a dry chuckle trying not to show how hurtful the statement sounded. In one minute, he had explained his predicament to Cody. Even when he was desperate for help, he tried not to sound out of power.

"And what do we get in return after giving you sustenance and equipment?"

"What do you want?" Akkar asked.

"Your daughter" Cody smirked. "That is the only fair bargain. Your daughter must be the most sought-after in the North, your beloved too, so that makes me want her." He played with his chin, his eyes fixated on Akkar.

Akkar didn't have any children, but he needed to strike this pact with the demon.

"I'm afraid if you can't let me have her…this deal never happened" Cody had raised himself from his throne seat but was stopped by Akkar's voice.

"She is still little," Akkar said to him. Only one person came to his mind, and it was Lumi, his brother's two-year-old daughter who was very dear to his heart. "My daughter is just a child, you can't have her."

"Demons don't age, remember? I do not care if she is just being taken out of her mother's womb. I'll always be here, waiting." King Cody snickered.

"Accepted," Akkar said with little to no hesitation. If Cody wanted to have Lumi to himself in exchange for giving him all the power in the world, Akkar didn't see it as something grave. "She has to be of age…" he stated his condition. He wasn't going to let this sex god take advantage of Lumi at a very young age.

As they agreed, Akkar set off back to the South. Getting home, he called his brother Kato. "The South reached out with a war proposal" he lied.

"A war?" Kato panicked. "We are out of resources, if the South war with us, they will win."

"And that is why I went there to make a truce."

"You went to the South? You opened the borders!"

"They were going to open it forcefully anyway, I had to do all I could to protect my people!" Akkar couldn't meet his brother's eyes as he kept up with the lies.

“How was it? What was your negotiation?" Kato asked.

"Lumi. He wants Lumi."

Kato opened his mouth, but he could not find words.

“It was what he wanted, he specifically asked for your child. I tried to back out of the deal because there was no way I was letting him take your daughter but he was very persuasive." Akkar said lying through his teeth.

“But how did he know I had a daughter?” Kato asked him and Akkar sighed, this was something he thought Kato would never ask, with how doting his brother was he didn’t expect him to question the deal.

“They are demons Kato, they know everything but relax, they won’t take her yet, not until she is older”

“Those perverted demons" Kato cussed. Even when the deal was a lot for him to handle, he always had his brother's side and he would support anything to keep the peace of the North.

Months after the deal was made there was a loud cry in Akkar’s kingdom as his wife Laurel put to bed, a beautiful baby girl that was immediately visited by the goddess and marked 'Virgin of the Moon' entrusting their family with such an important duty.

The birth of this child brought prosperity and everything Akkar and the North ever needed and he regretted ever going to the South to so for such ridiculous help from Cody.

“Even if I could turn back time, I couldn’t because it’s too late now”

Akkar said to Kato when they were alone.

“What do you mean?”

“I would not have made the deal”

“Because we have our little miracle?”

“Yes but..”

“No buts Akkar, come the next few years the south would be coming for Lumi, that is what we should focus on, you don’t back out from a deal, the consequences are grieved”

Kato said and Akkar nodded, in his heart he hoped the South forgot about the deal but his brother encouraged him to focus on making his daughter, Kaliya everything the moon goddess wanted her to be.

The Virgin of the Moon was a sacred title given to Kaliya by the goddess. As long as she remained untouched and pure, she was destined to keep the peace of the kingdom and serve as an intermediary between wolves and the goddess.
