Cody's Pov

___________

"Let us have a word, now!" Akkar uttered, trying to sound authoritative in front of his people but all I could see were his dilated pupils which appeared troubled and that soothed my heart.

He then whispered something to the other man and led the way. I followed him, not because I was a puppet, but letting him remain in his reverie. Let the others think he was in charge today, I would give him that privilege.

Far behind the wedding aisle, Akkar took me to a room and the instant he shut the door, my hands gripped his throat, till his old cranky skin started to redden. "Coward!" I spat on his face. "I see that the North has been doing better than I expected, how do you thank me for that?"

He could not speak because I wouldn't let him, I strangled him further till it looked like his eyeballs were going to pop out from his socket. "You sought my help only to play tricks?"

His claws dug into my skin causing me to retract from his neck, and he growled at me. "What do you think you are doing?" He shouted.

"Ssshh, Alpha" I placed my index fingers on the surface of my lips while looking out the window to see other people trooping into the venue for the wedding. "You broke our deal" I turned to him.

I saw panic settle at his eyelid. "Our pact is unchanged. Werewolves value loyalty and I will not accept such a statement from you" he snapped.

"Oh, really, Akkar?" I asked him, laughing at his face. "Remind me, what this deal was, boy?"

"You gave me resources in exchange for my daughter, Lumi"

"No, liar" I frowned. "I gave you resources for your daughter, which is not Lumi!" I snapped, and his bulky eyes calmed. "How do you feel seeing that you've been caught Akkar?"

"Lumi is like a daughter to me."

"She is your brother's child!"

He chewed on his tongue for some seconds before his eyes settled on mine. "Why is this even a problem? Lumi was the set girl for marriage before Kaliya was born. She had always been regarded as my daughter. She has been trained all her life for this marriage."

"I loathe liars and tricksters, and you have proven to be one and that is why this conversation is happening." I shot him a deadly glare, deliberating on messing his mind with my powers, but I knew it might take him a long time to recover from the effects, on such an auspicious day.

"What do you want?" Akkar impatiently asked the question I trapped him into asking.

"Simple. Stick to your deal. I would have your real daughter, today." I smirked, my demons excited at the thought of the girl with golden bright eyes.

"That is impossible. You do not know who Kaliya is" he shouted. I liked it as his tone amassed in the room when 'taking his daughter' was mentioned.

"Oh, I have heard stories."

"And the stories are true" The corner of his eyes welled up with tears, or I was mistaken? Was it fear, or anxiety? "Whatever you hear about Kaliya, is the truth."

"I heard something about virgins…"

"You heard right" he swallowed.

"Virgins turns incubus on. Are you aware?" I asked him.

"Your bride Lumi is a virgin too."

"However, It is Kaliya that interests me!" I grabbed his attire one more time. "Akkar, do not step on my toes!" I warned him.

He pushed me away from him, snarling and bringing out his fangs, like he was marking his authority as a wolf. "My daughter Kaliya, will not be given to you. She is the Virgin of the Moon, the goddess' possession and you are not worthy!"

I was taken aback for a moment, hurt too, as I had never been spoken to in such a manner. Worthy? I, Cody, King of the South had the right to every tiny thing wearing a skirt or worse, a burqa.

"Kaliya is one of the few people in centuries to be given such a noble duty. She cannot be touched by a man, or talk to a man and is destined to be the link between us and our goddess"

"Is this contrary to her desires? Have you ever asked her if she would like to be touched by a man?"

"She loves her duty, trained for it, she is not as weak as you think. Kaliya is strong-willed, and takes after her father…"

"Oh, is that so?"

"No man, no demon, no wolf can have my Kaliya!"

Like I was being caressed on my head, his words interested me. I felt challenged, my ego rising above my shoulders. How could he say that about me? Hundreds of women were at my beck and call, how could a mere princess who didn't know what lust felt like resist such a temptation like me?

"Unfortunately for you Akkar, this pressing would not proceed except Kaliya would be my bride" My lips widened in a smirk and Akkar chuckled.

"Not today Cody. And not my Kaliya."

I paused and swallowed. "Alright, let us do this. Since you speak so much about this girl, I would not forcefully take her from you, but…"

He sighed but kept his attention on me. "Give me a chance for her to see my charms. If she resists, I take Lumi with me. If she doesn't, I have both of them"

Akkar swallowed, his brows furrowed as he showed dissatisfaction. "She would not even speak to you. You do not have a chance with her Cody. Quit your silly games and let us proceed with this introductory wedding"

"What would happen if your precious girl gets tainted?"

"A chaos you and I wouldn't be able to handle"

"Oh, that is ridiculous" I laughed. Firstly, I didn't believe in the shitty goddess the wolves looked up to, secondly, no girl can survive without an incubus touch.
