Chapter 91

There was absolute tranquility. Barbara lost every strength she had in her, and Emily was greatly marveled at how Richard stood up for her.

They stayed mute and gaped at each other, sending different messages through the use of their eyes alone.

After a while, Barbara scoffed and walked out of the kitchen in defeat.

A massive sigh escaped Emily’s lips and, slowly, she moved away from Richard’s back and tried to pretend as though nothing happened.

Richard crossed his legs and gazed at her intently, almost digging through her with his mere gazes.

“You should go to your room, sir”, Emily muttered and got busy with washing the dishes and cleaning the kitchen.

“Do you really want me to go to my room?” Richard asked with a slight chuckle, walking closer to Emily, whose heart was beating out of her chest.
