Chapter Seventy One

ELENA

I took Jason to my bedroom as my mother had instructed us to go take a shower before coming down foe dinner. I had actually been expecting her to scold me as she did on the phone the time, I called her, but had been surprised when she had hugged me. Even going as far as hugging Jason as well.

My father on the other hand had been another story on his own. The coldness in his eyes and stance when he had seen us, had left me with a bitter taste in my mouth. When I had gone to hug him, he had barely said a word, and had just focused his gaze on Jason. A move that worried me deeply.

“So, this is your childhood bedroom?” Jason asked, drawing my attention back to him, and to the fact that we were now in my room.

My mother had been right when she had said the room was sparkling clean.

I placed the small bag I was holding and looked around, lifting my hands to place them on my hips. “Yeah. I grew up in this house.” I replied, feeling a little bit nostalgic. “It’s a little bit weird to me
