Chapter Seventy Eight

ELENA

I groaned again as my head throbbed.

I had woken up, only for me to see myself wedged between a bookshelf, and an old chair that was used in the library by my mother.

I peeked my eyes open, one after the other, and almost cried, when the light from the library ceiling hit my eyes.

I shut them back, almost screaming from how painful it felt.

"Elena!" Jason called, making me open my eyes again, just to see him staring at me with shock from his position, before crouching down next to me, with wide eyes filled with worry.

"Jason .." I murmured softly and tried to sit up, but was soon sent back to my position as I felt pain in my neck.

"What the hell happened?" Jason asked, coming closed to me to inspect my body. He placed his hands gently on my shoulders, then lifted one to my face.

I blinked, trying the recall everything that happened. "Someone hit me on the head, while I was in this study." I tried to sit up, but Jason held me down. "I saw them break in..." I narrated everything t
