"So you let him go? I mean, you didn't make any attempt to kill him?" Nora questioned. She was sitting at the vanity table and brushing her long hair with painstaking daintiness. Her hip flared behind her with the towel wrapped around her chest and she looked totally breathtaking but that was none of Walter's problem. He was tired of her, already.

"Lucian is more dangerous than he thinks he is. If I had made any move, I'd have been dead meat." Walter replied all of a sudden taking interest in the clean taupe comforter laid on the bed he sat on. Nora's room was filled with dull shades of colors and Walter found it upsetting. They'd had a quarrel over the color to be used on the walls a few years ago and Nora had won only because she had been really sick after giving birth to their last child.
