CHAPTER 69

ELODIE

I scanned the area, searching desperately for an escape route. The wolves were closing in, their growls low and menacing. Just as they lunged at me, I paused, waiting for the perfect moment. As they jumped, I dodged swiftly, turning on my heel and sprinting towards the nearest passageway.

If only I had my weapon, I could easily take down these wolves. But without it, I was vulnerable, forced to rely on speed and quick thinking.

The wolves chased after me, their speed faster than I had anticipated. I glanced back just in time to see the white wolf leaping at me. With a quick turn, I took the path to the right, leading directly to the kitchen. I pushed open the door, hurried inside, and slammed it shut behind me.

I locked the door as fast as I could. The wolves immediately began throwing themselves against it, their growls growing louder with each impact. Fortunately, the door was made of metal and sturdy enough to withstand their attacks—at least for a while. But if they couldn’
