“Come on,” I urged my eyes on him. “Don’t you think this is cheating?”

I stood no chance against him, especially since he held the two biggest knives. I needed to find a way to level the playing field.

“Don’t you think it’s unfair that you have two knives while I have none?” I asked.

He stared at the two knives in his hands before tossing one to me. I caught it and immediately assumed a defensive stance.

“What do you think now?” he asked. “Fair, right?”

I nodded. “Right.”

Watching him, I waited for him to make the first move, but changed my mind when he shifted slightly.

“Wait!” I yelled. “You want this to be fair, right?”

He frowned at me. “What now?”

“What if we fight without weapons?” I suggested. “I’m not good with knives anyway.”

I knew I couldn’t win this fight. My best chance was to delay him until someone arrived or to get rid of the weapons and run after ensuring they were out of reach.
