Never, for once, had he imagined something as gruesome as this would happen to him. His eyes trembled in their sockets while gaping at Marie fearfully.
Jinx at that moment was overwhelmed with fear and his body shivered violently like a drenched cat. Marie, on the other hand, didn't seem concerned about his fearful gaze—after all, he is going to die tonight in a short while.
“Delicious!” she gushed satisfactorily as she took a bite from the fleshy, hot and bloody organ. “You're… the serial killer?” Jinx asked faintly with blood accompanying his every word. He winced silently in pain; his body feels too feeble to cry for help—his eyes are getting drowsy, and he's aware he'll pass out any moment for now. Then again, Jinx didn't want to die; he can't die here, not in this way.
Marie, done devouring his kidney, ran her slimy tongue all over her stained lips. “Yeah. Surprised, Mr. Armstrong?” she smiled widely but lethally. “You don't have to answer that, you're going to die soon anyway”
Suddenly, she swayed her left hand brutally on his right eye, causing a lot of blood to gush out due to her sharp claws. Out of impulse, his feet accidentally pressed against the car pedal and of course, it accelerated.
Marie almost lost her balance and fell off the seat, she growled at him. “What the fuck do you think you're trying to do! Just stay still and die painfully!” Again she attempted to shove her hand into his body, but Jinx took the wheel—he pressed the pedal hard with his other hand, trying to steer the wheel. If he can get the car to the nearest police station or to a public place, then he might get saved.
Those were his thoughts as he drove, although Marie continuously tried to kill him. He swayed his head forward and fortunately avoided her deadly claws again. “Die already…!” Marie, maddened with desire, hurled herself at him—most of her victims never put up a fight. They always stay motionless and get eaten. Then why is he so different?
What the hell does he badly want to live for? He did move his head out of the way, but got his left cheek clawed. “Fuck” he whispered painstakingly then faced the road.
Unfortunately, Jinx wasn't concentrating while driving, so he didn't notice the massive tree in their path. Before he could swerve the car to safety, it already collided harshly with the tree.
“Ah…!!!” a boisterous scream elicited from Marie's lips. The car crash was so violent, she bashed her head right on the windshield; her skull got cracked due to the impact with the trunks.
Luckily, Jinx was saved by the airbag, but lost consciousness immediately.

“Get the transplant ready!” The unruly order of a doctor was heard as the patient got wheeled quickly into the emergency room. His face was currently enclosed with a sheet while being conveyed, but his blood ran down his abdomen, dripping on the floor.
“But doctor?” the nurse yelled in opposition. “We can't find a suitable donor and…”
“The girl who was with him; she's a perfect donor”
“But she's died!”
“Her organs are still fresh—prepare for a transplant. We must save this young man's life”.
“Doctor? What about his parents? Or relatives or friends or…?” The nurse tried to reason logically with the surgeon, but he was having none of it. “His life or some shitty paperwork? Choose! Now prepare for the transplant!”

Bashing through the door like a deranged lunatic, Leonard breathed heavily. Behind him were three nurses who were trying to stop him from getting through the doctor. “Who are you?” the doctor—Mr. Lionel, asked with a furrowed eyebrow. “We're truly sorry for…”
“I'm Leonardo Christen! Jinx Armstrong's friend!” Leo declared gallantly while walking in. A small but short smile appeared on Lionel's lips afterward. He dismissed the nurses, then offered Leo a seat. Despite that, Leo definitely isn't desiring that. "Cut the bullshit you darn doc! Where is Jinx? He was involved in a terrible accident, where is he? Why can't I see him, huh? Tell me!” Leonard barked ragingly at Lionel, who seemed relaxed. Quietly, he brought out a file and placed it on the door.
“Have a seat, then we'll converse like mature males” he uttered calmly. Heaving a deep sigh, Leo settled on the chair across Lionel.
They were both engulfed in silence for some seconds before he broke it. “Tell me, you darn doc, what the fuck happened? The cops told me he was taken to this hospital and when I asked to meet him, my request was denied. Why? Moreover, the accident was fucking bloody, is Jinx alright?” Leo questioned all at once. “All those questions and you want me to answer…”
“All at the same time! Goddamn it! Stop keeping me in anxiety and spill. Is Jinx okay?” he asked, more loudly this time around. After a few seconds of silence, Lionel spoke. “Are you his friend?”
“Yeah. His only friend, so you can understand how fucked up I'm feeling” he muttered bitterly—the fact that he couldn't save Jinx, is literally killing him. What kind of friend is he really?
“Well about Jinx Armstrong, he's in a stable condition now” he responded, making Leo exhale in relief. “But…” Lionel's tone got serious real quick. “But what?”
“Jinx Armstrong had his left kidney ripped unbelievably yet violently from his body. A transplant was needed to save his life, and the only available donor was the deceased Marie Vermilion. Furthermore, his left eye might not function perfectly since his retina was damaged beyond repair”
“Marie? Deceased?” Leo repeated in disbelief—Marie truly died in the car accident, huh?
“Yes. She's dead, but unknowingly saved Mr. Armstrong's life. Now, the only problem at hand is that Mr. Armstrong might have the tendency to go into a state of comatose; when he'll be awake, we're unaware. He might regain unconsciousness, perhaps a week or even two years from now”.
Flickering his eyes weakly yet repeatedly, he finally snapped them open. At first, a sudden pang of tiredness invaded his system, but soon wore off rather quickly. The only sounds he could decipher were the beeping monitor and the slowly dropping pellets of the blood bag which is attached to his wrist via the use of a tube. Moments passed with Jinx ogling blankly at the ceiling, with literally no thoughts going through his head. He has absolutely no recollection of whatever occurred recently or why he's even laying on the hospital bed. Gently yet slowly, he arose from the bed without feeling even the slightest of pain. While he sat upright with his eyes lazily roaming around the room, the door got pushed open, and Lionel stepped in. He couldn't stop himself from smiling broadly, seeing Jinx conscious. “Mr. Armstrong. I'm so glad that you're awake!” Lionel beamed, as he advanced. Sluggishly, Jinx gazed at him—he furrowed his eyebrows silently yet doubtfully, since he's never seen th
Minutes passed by, yet Jinx was unable to move—he remained totally speechless, and entirely motionlessly with his jaw dropped. In that position, Leonard walked in, carrying a tray which contained their meals. He met Jinx, looking as pale as a ghost. “Dude, are you okay?” Leonard questioned while placing the tray on the center table. Then again, it seemed like Jinx was oblivious of his presence. Leo proceeded to tap his shoulder multiple times, which did the trick. “Y…yeah?” Jinx stuttered unintentionally as he batted his eyelashes at Leo. “You sure you're okay, dude? You seem somewhat pale. Is it hurting anywhere? Should we go back to the hospital?” he rasped worriedly all at once. It is evident that Leo is distressed—if Jinx is left unattended, he surely won't bother to go to a hospital. For some reason, Jinx despises the hospital with a great passion. He arose slowly from the couch and attempted to walk away, but got held back on the wrist by Leo. “What!” Jinx furrowed his eye
Flipping to the next page of his book, he smiled happily due to the immense joy he deprived in reading a good book. If there's anything he loves more than tranquility and his girlfriend Jessica, then it's reading a book. Without diverting his gaze from the pages, he sipped lightly from the cup of espresso that's in his possession. Jinx, engrossed in reading while sipping coffee, had grown oblivious of his surroundings—including his best friend, Leonard, who's seated across from him. “Dude!” Leo had grown angry since he's been ignored by Jinx for far too long. Swiftly, he snatched the book from Jinx's grip, and that brought him back to life. “Leo?” Jinx growled, seemingly pissed off. “Don't give me that look, you bastard. I've been talking to you for almost an hour, yet you didn't reply. If you want to read, do it at home, not in a goddamn café!” he snapped afterward. Exchanging words with Leonard is simply fruitless, so Jinx sighed softly as he leaned backwards on the chair. “And
He dialed her number again for the eleventh time, only for the call to go into voicemail. To simply say, Jinx's getting frustrated. He tossed the phone carelessly on the bed as he stood up. “What the hell is wrong with Jessica?” he grunted with his fingers dipped into his hair—it's been a week since he last saw his girlfriend. As absurd as it may sound, she's yet to call him. Despite how much research he's made about her whereabouts, Jessica can't be found. While he contemplated hard about his girlfriend, the blaring ringing of his cellphone got his attention. With high hopes that it'll be a call from his beloved, he reached for it speedily. Jinx's ray of hope dissipated the instant he stared at Leo's caller ID. He gritted lowly. “What the fuck do you want?” he snapped irritatingly. At the other end, Leo's scoff of dissatisfaction was heard. “I had an idea you'll act like a total d×ck head because of Jessica, but still have some respect for my dumbass!”“What do you want, Leonardo
“Where is Jinx, for fuck’ sake!” he couldn't help but scream in desperation. Presently, he's wandering aimlessly in the club, hoping to spot Jinx at the cellar or anywhere. It's been half an hour since he disclosed the club's location, yet he can't find Jinx. Leonard, exhausted, went over to the cellar and settled on the high stool. He brought out his cell phone and, once more, dialed Jinx's number, only for the call to go straight into voicemail. “Oh fuck this” he mumbled angrily. The bartender narrowed his eyebrows at the cussing young man. “Something bothering you, pretty boy? A bottle of tequila might help” he said suggestively. Leonard sighed, then placed his cellphone on the table. “Nah. I ain't in the mood, I'm too worried about my friend. I told the fucker to get his ass down here, but I can't find him. Tch! That's the problem with introverts” he added with a light scoff. “A friend? And he's an introvert?” The bartender paused, recollecting the dazed young man he served ea
