*First Person's Perspective*

~Alpha Lucas~

“Are you crazy? Why would you pull such a rude and unwelcoming behavior?" As soon as the door closed behind me, I thundered. Marcus turned to me and shook his head

" You know, I used to think you were smart and intelligent, but obviously you're not. I can see that now” was his response

I gritted my teeth, my hands clenched beside me

" You do not have to insult me to get to your point” I answered and he rolled his eyes

" I'm just stating facts as I see it, I'm not being rude or anything”

He defended and I scoffed

“Why have you suddenly started to act this way? You insulted me in front of my guest and daughter. What's all this about? If you have something to say, couldn't you at least wait till after dinner was over and do you have to raise your voice and say insulting words? You know I'm just tolerating you because of how close we are, you know that. So do not push me into doing something that I might regret later" I said and he chuckled

“What are you going to do? Kill me? Go ahead, do that. You can try" He retorted

I creased my brows in utter confusion. This was odd, very odd. Marcus never spoke to me like this, he never for once disrespected me like this

“Or maybe he's just using this as a chance to show you who he really is" Connor, my wolf suggested and I shook my head

I think I should leave him for now. When he becomes calm and collected, then we'll have a talk like two grown adults

Shouting and yelling at this hour would do neither of us any good

“When you're ready to talk to me like a sensible adult, you know where to find me" I said and walked away. Slamming the door shut behind me

On my way to my bedroom, I bumped into Enise. She was startled and almost lost her balance but I was quick to catch her before she reached the ground

Now I got the chance to look at her up close. She had changed so much, she looked even more gorgeous than she did before and I couldn't help but keep staring in admiration

“Um... Alpha... Alpha Lucas, I don't... I'm okay now. Thank you" she stuttered. Only when she spoke did I come to my senses and noticed that our lips were almost touching

With immediate effect, I helped her up and took my hands away from her

Goodness! What is wrong with me?

“I'm sorry, you know I told you how much you bear a striking resemblance with my ex wife, I got carried away and thought that she was you, Please pardon my ill manners" I apologized. She smiled frantically, obviously feeling a bit awkward

“Umm... Where are you headed? It's late" I quickly changed the topic

“Oh! I just wanted to head outside for some fresh air" she responded

“Are you not comfortable with the room I gave you? If not, I can get you another one" I offered but she declined immediately

“Oh no that's not it. I had a talk with your daughter this afternoon and the things she told me has got me thinking which is why I want to go out to get some fresh air, to you know..."

I didn't understand what she was on about but I nodded any way and moved out of her way

I tossed and turned in bed, I couldn't bring myself to sleep as all my thoughts were flooded with things about Enise

I had thought she died in the fire at the mental hospital. But seeing her again, I didn't even know what I felt. She was claiming another identity, why?

Could it be that she had forgotten about me? About us?

I noticed the way she acted with Miracle. It was just the normal way a doctor acts with their kid patients

She didn't show any emotions what so ever

That made me start to believe that she might be someone else. But then again. They had the exact same features. Maybe she's forgotten who she is. But it's a good thing she's here, I would help her remember everything, so that we can be together as a family again

With that resolution, I finally drifted into Dreamland

~~~
The blaring sound of my alarm clock jolted me awake. I turned it off, did my morning routine and headed to my study
A lot of work needed to be done today and the earlier I start the better for me
Two hours into working, a knock came on the door
Before I could answer it, the door creaked open, revealing Marcus. He stood there staring at me for some minutes before walking up to me
“Lucas" he called out. I didn't raise my head to look at him or even acknowledge his presence. If he was here to start another argument, then I might as well not give him my attention
“A silent treatment? You asked me to come talk to you when I'm calm, remember?" He asked but I still didn't respond
“Look, I'm sorry okay? I don't know what came over me. I don't know why I flared up like that"
“You know me, and you know that I am not one to act so irrationally. I just don't know what came over me. I'm sorry for calling you names. You know I don't mean any of what I said to you" He continued talking. It took a while, probably five minutes before I took in sharp breaths and turned to him
“You don't know what came over you" I said and he shrugged
“It's alright. It's not like I took to heart all what you had said" I responded and he nodded
“Fair" and then there was silence. He drummed his fingers on the desk while I went back to my paperwork
“But on a serious note, do you actually believe that they're two different people? I mean that's too much of a coincidence, and I'm finding it hard to believe" He spoke
“You don't think I know that? I was just playing along" I responded and he sighed
“I figured"
“You did? And yet, you yelled at me in front of my kid"
“Come on, I thought we were past that already? I told you, I don't know what came over me. I was just pissed at you for no damn reason" I rolled my eyes
“So.. back to what I was saying. Why do you think she's back though? And why is she claiming to be someone else?"
“Why don't you ask her" I responded and he gave me a knowing look
“What? Why would you ask me that like I was in her mind or something? Of course I don't know. But what I think is that, she must have forgotten about her past. You know?" He thought for a while
“You might be right. But what I think, is that she knows exactly who she is and she's back to take revenge on us" He said. Hm! I didn't think of it from that angle, but then again
“Enise is not one who would want to take revenge. I mean, she has a forgiving heart and she's sweet and innocent..."
He was staring at me like I had suddenly gone crazy
“You honestly still believe that? After everything that happened. You really think that she would remain the sweet, innocent and forgiving Enise? Really?" He asked
“That's what I like to think" he face palmed
“We need to expose her, she needs to know that we already know the truth, that way, we can talk things out with her and everything will return to normal, just the way it used to be before" He suggested and I thought that was a brilliant idea
“Okay so, what's the plan? How do we do that?"
“You know her better than I do, so what's one thing about her that is very unique. Something that only her has. If we're able to fish that out, she would have no option but to come clean to us" I racked my brain for something, any thing, but nothing came
“I don't know, she had a birth mark on her back" I said
“That's something, but think of something else. I'm sure she must have covered that up. We need something that she can't hide"
“I was going to say her scent, but she smells different now" I answered.
“Yeah, I noticed that too. Obviously, she covered it up".
There was silence for a while and then it popped. “Allergies. She's allergic to strawberries and tomatoes” I said and he smiled
"Now that's something. We would be able to get her” I raised my brow in confusion.
" You're not going to give that to her, are you?“ I asked. I knew Marcus and how crazy and reckless he could get sometimes.
" That's the only way we can find out, Lucas”
" No, no, do not bullshit me, Marcus. Allergies are not something we should joke with. She could die”
" But she won't. I'll have the antidote on standby. When she starts to react to it, I'll give it to her immediately, see? It's as simple as that”
I didn't want to do that. I didn't want to harm her in anyway. I've already done a lot damage as it is, doing more would only increase the hate she has for me, that is if she was truly here for revenge
“I'll do it whether you approve or not. I saw the way she stared at me with so much contempt, I'm pretty sure I would be her first target when she sets her plan in motion" He said
“So you're just doing this to save your head?" I asked and he scoffed
“Hell has no fury like a woman's scorn. Of course I'm trying to save my head. I did nothing wrong to her, it was you who sent me. She needs to know that I was against this right from the very start" I rolled my eyes at his words
After much persuasion, I gave in
At dinner, I instructed the cook to make strawberry cake for dessert and she did
Marcus apologized for his behavior the yesterday and she said she understood
“It's okay, I understand" she said and we all smiles and started to dig in to our plates
We spoke about a few things, she told us about a few funny moments she's had with some of her kid patients. It was fun until it was time for dessert
I watched with so much apprehension as she took the spoon to her mouth
She paused for a bit. “Is this strawberry flavored?" She asked and we nodded
“It is, that's Miracle's favorite" Marcus answered
I waited, he waited too, but nothing came. Instead, she nodded her head and took another scoop
“Interesting choice" she said. Marcus and I exchanged glances. We were wrong. She really wasn't Enise
My heart sank. All the hopes in me vanished completely
