Is the war coming before anybody truly anticipated it to? Or is Ian messing with Asher?
Signe POVAsher and I rushed down to the training arena and saw everybody lining up and preparing for battle. All of the wolves and she-wolves that had been in the stands were making their way out of the stadium and back to their homes."Alex!" Asher yells to his brother."Alpha. They attacked at the eastern border as we predicted they would. They have a batallion of warriors and our own warriors are holding them off to the best of their ability, but they need reinforcements." Alex explains.Asher's Gamma spoke next, but I had yet to be introduced and didn't know his name. "Alpha, I think we should send our forces in at full capacity and show them what happens when they try and attack us.""I agree. Let's finish getting everyone lined up and--" "Excuse me Alpha." I cut in. "May I make a suggestion?"Asher looked at me, but instead of seeing the fire in his eyes from minutes ago I only saw irritation. Nobody spoke up and I decide to take their silence as permission to speak. "I believ
Signe POVI race off in the direction of Alpha Ian on the ridge. If I can get to him and end this war before it can get into full swing, so many lives can be saved. With that in mind, Aerona puts on another boost of speed as I close the distance between Ian and myself.Alpha Ian is still looking down below at the battle before him. I glance down quickly and realize that our wolves have the upper hand despite the fact that we were outnumbered. Where had all of these Midnight wolves come from? I thought that when it was first reported, there weren't many Midnight wolves that had attacked.I turn my attention back to Ian. Soon I would be close enough to attack and I needed to try my best to assess him from this distance. He was large, which is typical for an alpha wolf. He stood as if he didn't have a care or worry in the world, which means he is overly confident. Good, I could try and use that to my advantage.Ian's focus is still down on the battle below. Taking my advantage, I leap in
Asher POV"What injuries did Ian sustain from the fight?" Alex asks me, but I'm not really listening as I sit outside in the waiting room as my mate undergoes potentially life saving surgery. Why did she have to be so stupid? Why did she think that she could take on Ian herself? He's an alpha and she's a gamma. She's an exceptional fighter, yes, but she made a huge mistake. One that may very well cost her her life. "Asher?" I hear my brother again and this time I look at him."Yes?" I'm exhausted. We have been in the hospital for eighteen hours, twelve of which have been for Signe's multiple surgeries. She lost so much blood that her body wasn't healing itself and it seems as though Ian might have laced his bite with wolfsbane, which means he has somehow built up an immunity to it."What injuries did Ian sustain from the fight?" Alex asks again, ever patient. He knows my mind is elsewhere and he is trying to distract me from it. Something I very much appreciate about my little brothe
Asher POVIt has been three days and Signe still hasn't woken up. The doctor says her body is likely working on healing itself and hopefully her wolf as well, as they fear her wolf may not have survived the surgeries and sacrificed herself to save her human half. 'Aerona is still there. I can sense her.' Thor assures me. I hope he isn't just imagining their bond because he so desperately doesn't want to lose her.In the days since the battle we have not seen or heard anything from Alpha Ian. Likely he was home and licking his own wounds clean. Doctor's had also confirmed my suspicions about wolfsbane in Signe's bite marks that had been inflicted by Ian. Meaning he had come up with a way to make himself immune to a high dose of the poison, or had found an opportunity to pour it into the wounds. With Signe still asleep, I had yet to figure out exactly how things went down during their fight. I needed some of those details to verify or negate my suspicions. Either way, I had my team loo
Signe POVI look over when I hear his voice and see Asher sitting beside me. I'm in the hospital and I am alive? How is that even possible? I thought for sure that I would be dead.'Aerona, are you there?' I search for her in my mind, but I am unable to find her. 'AERONA!' I yell to her frantically now. 'I need you! Where are you? Please! Just tell me you're okay.' Tears begin sliding down my cheeks and I sift through my mind for any trace of my beloved friend. I can't help as the sobs begin racking my body,A strong pair of arms wrap around me and pulls me in tight for an embrace. Without my wolf strength, he is squeezing me too tight and I begin to feel my air being cut off."Asher." I barely get out."I'm so sorry, Signe. I should have been there for you and kept you by my side like I said I would. This wouldn't have happened if I had just followed through with my own plan."He releases me and I suck in a big breath, causing me to cough and sputter for several embarrassing seconds
Signe POVI look over at Asher, hopeful, but the look on his face instantly sends despair careening through me. "Asher, I can't feel her. I can't sense her. I need to know. Please!" I beg him to tell me. I hope and pray to the Moon Goddess with every fiber of my being that I have not lost my best friend. My very essence of myself.I rip the covers off of myself. If he isn't going to tell me, then fuck him. I'll go and find the doctor and I don't give a damn about any of this shit connected to me. Without my wolf, I am nothing. I start ripping cords off of me and Asher grabs my hands stopping me from doing anything else."Let go of me!" I yell at him. I'm desperate to get information on Aerona. I need to know what they know and not be kept in the dark."Please Asher! Please!" I beg him and break into sobs. "Shhhh. Calm down, Signe. I was getting to it. I just have so much information to give you." He gets up and pulls me into his embrace again, stroking my hair in an attempt to sooth
Signe POVSeveral days had passed since I woke up and I was finally able to move around pain free on my own. My warriors came to check on me as frequently as possible and even my dad and Alpha Lance had come to check on my well-being. It felt good to get up on my own and move around the pack house. Breakfast would start in thirty minutes, and I had no intentions of being late. However, I did want to explore the pack house and get more familiar with it while I had the opportunity.I imagine I will return to full duty shortly and be back out on patrols for the pack. Also assisting Alpha Asher wherever I possibly could. I can't say that the thoughts don't excite me. Despite what happened, that is where I belong and where I wish to be. I hear footsteps walking up behind me. Even without my enhanced wolf hearing, whoever it was, wasn't trying to be all that sneaky."Good morning Siggy baby." Alex says cheerfully.I laugh at him and that awful nickname he gave me."Good morning Alex. I am
**Trigger warning. Some brief descriptions of sex without consent.**Ian POVI had made my way battered and bruised to the the rear lines and then called for my troops to retreat. I was tempted to keep them fighting and further distract Asher and his pack, but I had sacrificed enough wolves for one day. That's all they were to me anyways. A means to an end. A way for me to get what is owed to me. What I have earned. They were expendable. I could care less whether they live or die, but I need to not waste too many in my efforts to feel out Asher and his Blood Moon pack. The attack from the girl had been unexcpected at first. I relished in the fact that she had thought she got the upper hand on me. She entered into my domain ill-prepared and I took full advantage of it.She fought well for a she-wolf. If she makes it through this war, I will take her prisoner and force her to serve me one way or another. Be it on the battlefield or in bed. I like them fiesty and I truly enjoy breaking t
