The dim light in the club made Aletta uncomfortable. She wanted to run out of the place as soon as possible. She looked to the right of her where Joshua sat in the VIP boot. He too looked uncomfortable. She thought to herself once again. 'Why was she here? Why did the person who brought her here seem as uncomfortable as her?' She saw one of the girls bend over and whisper something into Joshua's ears. She did not like the closeness between them. She looked around her and snatched the bottle off the table, opened it up, and took a huge chug of it. She winced as if she were bitten by an insect as the bitter hot drink burnt through her throat. She was here for an official assignment so she should not be drinking but the thought of what those girls were doing to Joshua sent a strange feeling down her spine. What if he needed help? What was she going to do? Hell, she always thought that she had overcome her long-standing crush on him. Who did not have a crush on Joshua Delgado? He was a
Joshua steadied Aletta. She laid her head on his chest and mumbled a few words he could not make out before she proceeded to chew on something in her mouth. He heard her make a sound as if she was about to throw up. "Ms. Brunswick," he said slowly as if he was warning her not to go through with her plans. There was no way he would be getting his designer soiled by her dinner. The sound she made earlier was now lost in the sound of the club. He searched his pocket with one hand while the other hand was holding her firmly to his chest. It would be a disaster if she fell. He pulled out his phone and a sort of triumphant smile crossed his lips. He was good at everything after all. He put a call through to his bodyguard and driver. There was no way he would be the one to carry out Aletta all by himself. What would the world say if they saw him doing that? There would be a commotion which would take the legal and PR team a little more effort than needed. When he sensed it might take a lit
Joshua was shocked at the confession. He was always the center of attraction but coming from someone who he thought spared him no glance, it was a bit overwhelming. He shuffled on his feet in embarrassment not knowing how to handle the situation. "What?" he found the words leaving his mouth in confusion. Jack gasped in fear. He did not know if he heard right or if his imagination was playing tricks on him. It was quite rare for him to see Aletta act like this and now she was confessing love for Joshua? "Ms. Aletta, I will help you out," Jack said pulling her backward and holding on to her firmly. "I will take her down and get a cab. You can take your time before coming out sir" Jack said. He knew that she would be embarrassed if she remembered by morning. He needed to save her before she made any further mistakes. "Don't do that" Joshua's voice that started high at the start of the sentence ended low as if he was losing battery power. "What?" Jack said turning to face him with sh
Light rays hit Aletta's eyes and she groaned in frustration. Unlike how the movies make it seem, there was nothing magical about waking up to the sun hitting your face especially when you have a throbbing headache. She shifted but noticed that her bed was smaller than usual. Why was her bed smaller? Why could she not move as she would like? Her eyes flickered open like the light bulb on the rusty walkway that would reek of blood. She noticed she was on the couch and not the luxury bed that she worked so hard to get. Her open eyes sent a headache surging through her entire being. "What the hell?" she groaned in pain. "That is what serves you right," Alethea said as she walked into the living room with a tumbler in hand. She sipped out of it before sitting on the sofa beside the couch where she was lying. "What?" Aletta said with so much difficulty. "So tell me when did you get a boyfriend? I thought you were going to devote your entire life to working for money so you can be stink
Joshua turned his phone screen to the table and took a huge spoon from his scrambled eggs. He sighed and turned the screen again as if he was anxiously waiting for a phone call but of course he was. Why was she not calling him? Was she not to call him first thing in the morning to apologize? He had barely had a shut eye but had to wake up so early because his mom was all up in his business. "I have told you to stop bringing your phone to the table," Xavier said as he noticed his son's constant checking of his phone. "Let him be" Jessica murmured to him touching his hand gently. "Joshua honey are you waiting for a call from one of the partners?" she asked trying to take her hand off her husband's hand to which Xavier pulled and intertwined his fingers between hers. "No," he said shaking his head dripping the phone to his screen. "Or have you gotten a girlfriend?" Jeanne asked lifting her eyes to his as if she knew something. "A girlfriend my foot" he retorted immediately. "Strong
"What?" the word left his mouth quicker than he thought. "I am so sorry sir, I hope I did not make a mistake" Aletta was confident in herself. There was no way he wouldn't buy this. She was so embarrassed that she feared for her life and job. "You made a mistake," Joshua said again letting his emotions rule him. "I did?" she asked shocked. "I am usually very well composed when I drink or so I hear" she added the last part quickly in case he doubts the credibility of her statement. She had lied to him, she did not like lying but at that point, she had no other choice. She barely drank and even when she did it was never to the point of her getting so drunk she could not control herself. This was her first drunken episode so she was also shocked at her tendencies. "You are well composed?" as she spoke he became convinced. It may be possible that she did not remember what went on yesterday. "So I hear" she responded quickly. "I do sincerely apologize if I have caused any inconvenienc
