Aletta rubbed her hand on her skirt for the third time since she stood opposite the gates of the Delgado estate. She knew that Joshua was not satisfied with the outcome of their call yesterday. The security man waved to her after he saw she made no move to come inside. She waved back and her eyes caught her watch. She shook in fear as she saw the time. Joshua hated tardiness and she knew it. She pressed her hand on her skirt and rushed to the gate. "Good Morning Ron" she whispered to him and hurried inside. "Good morning Ms. Brunswick" She gave a wave to acknowledge him. She hurried inside and stood at the front door, she glanced at her watch again to see the time. She barely made it by five minutes. She stood still and tried her best to steady her breathing. "Oh hello there," a voice said from behind her. She knew the voice quite too well. She turned back and drew a smile across her face. "Hello Mrs. Delgado," she said with a smile. She was afraid because she did not know why Jo
Aletta stood up and diverted her eyes. She could feel his gaze on her but she tried to keep her eyes down. "Good Morning Mr. Delgado," she said trying to make her voice sound confident. Usually, Joshua would respond immediately. His silence made her look up to him and search his face. He looked like he was criticizing her for what she had done. "Are you going to stay for breakfast or should we head out now? Your first appointment of the day begins in exactly an hour so you still have enough time to have breakfast and drive there" she rambled on when she saw that he was not willing to speak. "Let's have breakfast first," he said before turning toward the dining area. Aletta sat back down and sighed with relief. She always enjoyed Jessica's meal but she did not feel like eating it. She would feel so uncomfortable throughout the meal. She stood up ready to go out and pretend to be busy so she would not torture herself eating. "Where are you going?" Jessica asked when she saw the gir
"Thank you so much for the meal Mrs. Delgado" Aletta said as she stood up. Jessica asked her twice more if she was okay with the meal and she forced herself to finish the portion allocated to her. She did not want to make the kind woman worry again. She took a huge gulp of the freshly squeezed orange juice in front of her and nodded her head. She cleaned her mouth with a napkin before standing up. "Oh, you are welcome darling. I hope you enjoyed the meal" Jessica said beaming. She was so excited, her children barely complimented her meals and she would like to hear from the younger ones how good her cooking was. "Yes I did," she said giving a small bow. She turned to Joshua who was eating ever so slowly beside her. "I will be waiting in the car," she said before proceeding to leave the room. "Such a nice girl" she heard Jessica remark as she made her way out. She walked straight to the car that Jack had prepared. "Good morning Jack," Aletta said when she came near to him. "Good
The entire day was filled with them trying to meet up with one meeting or another. Joshua had no time to overthink the confession but he still remembered it occasionally. They were standing outside the hotel they had just had a meal with some partners to discuss opening up a new office. Well, Joshua had a meal with them, and Aletta waited just a few tables away to take cues from him. Jack drove up to them with the car and Aletta opened the door, Joshua shot a look her way before he entered the car. Aletta raised her eyebrow in confusion. She could not quite place the meaning of that expression. She shut the door before she slid in before the driver. "Ms Brunswick, why don't we have dinner together?" Joshua asked as Jack began to move the car. "Sir?" she asked in confusion. Dinner? Why would he want to have another dinner when he already had one and why did he want to have it with her? "Are you uninterested in grabbing a quick meal?" he asked as if he was shocked he had to repeat h
Aletta cleared her throat as her eyes darted through the whole car. She could not believe the situation. Yes, she was wrong for confessing to him. She hated herself for doing so but why was he throwing a major tantrum? "Yes, I remember very clearly" she admitted. She breathed out and tried to steady herself. So what if she remembered? She had apologized already why was he dragging out like a big baby? "But I apologized already" she continued. She closed her eyes and pressed her temples with her fingers. "Does it end if you apologize?" he asked and his eyes shot open. Should he not let it go since she apologized and it was obvious she was trying her best to avoid the situation? Should he not pick up on that fast? Was he this slow concerning this kind of thing? "An apology is only complete when the other party has accepted" When the words left his mouth she found her head whipping to turn back to watch him. She gaped like a fish as she did not know what to say to counter him. She fo
"Yes Mr. Delgado," she said. "Then I don't mind at all, let us have dinner. I have a proposition for you" She sighed and nodded. She tried to warn him but he refused. She knew she might suffer but if she was brought to the limelight of the media she would quickly reveal that she worked as his assistant and that the meal was an official one to discuss work related matters. He tapped on the window to alert Jack. Jack hurriedly opened the door and waited for instructions. "You can clock off now," Joshua said his eyes widened. He threw a sly look toward Aletta. She did not know how to respond to that so she shook it off and pretended she did not see him. "Okay sir," Jack said before closing the door and walking down to the road to hail a taxi. "I will drive us then," Aletta said pulling off her seat belt. "Stay put, I will do the driving" "No" she screamed before his hand could get to the door. "Why?" he asked startled. "I can not let you do that" she lied through her teeth once
The smug expression that Joshua had when he began to drive was now gone because he had done very poorly at driving. As Aletta had predicted he was very bad at driving and now he was so ashamed he did not know how to react to save his face. When he pulled up in the parking lot of his mom's restaurant Aletta's grip on the seatbelt finally loosened and she took a sigh of relief. "I thought I would lose my life today" she breathed out which made Joshua close his eyes in shame. He opened the door and stood outside the door. He blamed himself for insisting on driving. He knew he needed to do better. Why did he have the license when he could not even use it? He walked over to the passenger's seat of the car and opened it up for her which startled her. "Oh my gosh," she let out in a scare. "Come on out," he said as he stretched his hands to her. He needed to pretend like he did not just put their lives in danger a few moments ago. "Can I have a moment?" she answered ignoring his stretche
Jessica was too glad to see Joshua and Aletta by his side. She wished he was not glued to his work like his father. She wanted him to enjoy his youth and have a nice time but it seemed like he was not interested. "I will get the special for today," Jessica said as she ushered them to a table. "Aren't you going to ask us what we want first? Or recommend a dish to us?" Joshua asked. "I know your palette already. Is today's special good for you?" she turned to face Aletta to which she nodded."Sure Mrs. Delgado" Jessica smiled to herself. She liked this girl, she was simple and blended well with her son but it was obvious her son was too blind to see her. "Can the waiter come to our table only once?" Joshua asked. "Why? Are you going to discuss a secret?" Jessica teased. "Yes," Joshua answered sharply. It threw Jessica off balance for a moment before she turned to Aletta."He is so uptight and kind of annoying. He is my son but I have to say so as well" she said in a fake whisper.
