Book Two: Branch One Hundred and Thirty Three

They had both had something to eat and he had driven her home and then went home himself.

"Why are you always out? I finally get to see my daughters after such a long time but both of you leave me at home all day long and even come back late on a Friday" Eunice said as Aletta entered the house.

"Is Alethea home?" Aletta asked as she dropped to the couch with a groan.

"No, I have been alone in the house since morning. I thought Alethea did not work?"

"I guess she must be uncomfortable with you at home," Aletta said.

Her mom was a wonderful person but the truth always remained that she was a bad mother. She had never paid attention to her kids and therefore made them mature at such a young age. Alethea never knew what she looked like until she was entering her puberty years.

"Why would she feel uncomfortable with me?" Eunice asked sitting down and handing her daughter a cup of water.

"Maybe for the reason that you were almost always absent at home," Aletta said. She did not find it easy
