ABL 03: New Home

Miall

“Don’t scare the girl, Miall. Show her around her new home,” my mother said, and Amanah still looked shocked at what she had heard. How did this happen?

“Wait, will I really be pregnant for six months only?” she pulled on the jacket that was around her shoulders.

“Well, for only five now, so your time is almost up,” I crossed my arms over my chest, and my mom slapped my head. “What did you do that for!” I yelped, and she ground her teeth together.

“I said stop scaring the girl,” she said in a low voice, glaring at me.

“Last I checked, I was the Alpha of this pack,” I grumbled, rubbing my head; it didn’t hurt, but it did sting. My mother raised her eyebrow at me and said,

“Alpha to who?” That scary face was replaced with a kind smile as she looked at Amanah. “We don’t know for sure yet since this is the first time it’s happened in our pack.”

“Oh,” she breathed, and a smirk grew on her face. “That would still be enough time for me either way,” she said. “I’ve heard that pregnancy isn’t so kind to people,” she whispered to my mom, and they giggled together. What did that mean?

“Once you’re settled in, I will tell you about my pregnancy with Miall. Let's hope yours will be better than mine,” Mom held Amanah's hand, and I was surprised that my mother was already so warm toward Amanah.

“I just hope my child won’t come out with that enormous head of his,” she pointed to me, and Mom laughed. Haha.

“He got that from his father,” they laughed together and I glared at the both of them. “Let’s get you settled in first, dear, and I will tell you everything about Miall and this pack.”

“Alright, Nyleve,” she said as she hooked her arm with my mom's. They both smiled at each other as if they had been friends for a long time.

“Luna Acula,” I corrected.

“Please repeat that in my good ear,” she turned her face to the side with her hand on her ear. She slowly folded her fingers and raised her middle finger. “Oh? Nothing? I guess we can continue, Nyleve,” she said, smiling sweetly at Mother. She infuriates me.

I grabbed her arm, and they looked at me, shocked. I smiled and slightly cocked my head to the side.

“I will show you around,” my smile grew as Amanah stared back at me quietly, probably thinking of what she could say to get out of this. “You’ll have much more fun with me,” I said, and she squinted her eyes and nodded. She didn't trust me, just as much as I didn't trust her.

“Okay, so I will go prepare some stuff for you, Amanah,” my mother said with a smile, leaving us together.

“Come on,” I pulled her, and she stood still. Stubborn in every way! Sighing, I pulled again, and she finally moved with me.

“You know, I walk fine by myself,” she pulled her arm from her hold.

“Make sure you keep up then,” I let go of her arm, and she grumbled something under her breath. “Did you say something?”

“Aren’t you supposed to hear what I say?” Her sassy tone was irritating. What exactly had happened that night?

“You seem to know an awful lot about us,” I said as I opened the door for her. She looked at me, surprised, and I rolled my eyes. “I may not want you here, but I have manners.” She scoffed as she walked past the door, not before abruptly stopping before me.

“I know only the basics. Do your bones hurt when you shift?” She asked, leaning closer to me, and I looked at her. Why did she have no shame, and why was she so comfortable around people she didn't know?

“Sometimes,” I answered, and she nodded slowly.

“Then you’re not that strong,” she spoke softly as she slowly nodded.

“I know I could break you into half like a twig,” I spat, and she grinned, nodding.

“You did. That’s why I ended up pregnant with your baby,” she stuck her tongue out and giggled. "Oh, you owe me new bed sheets, and my new uniform had to come out of my paycheck."

“Believe me, it wasn’t my intention,” I said, pushing my hands into my pockets.

“Hmm,” she shrugged. “So, will we stand in this gloomy hallway forever?” She grimaced, shuddering.

“Well, I believe this is where you woke up. This is the Eclipse Moon Pack Council Hall, basically where meetings concerning anything and everything that has to do with the pack are held. It's hell."

"With unlawful representatives," she whispered as she hugged herself. "Where to next?"

"Look, I'm sorry about Drystan; I'll deal with him," I said, and she shrugged.

"It's nothing new; now let's go, please," I led her out of the hall, where we were immersed in bright light. "What the heck?" She whispered as she looked around. "Are you sure I'm not dead?"

I laughed with her; she covered her mouth and shook her head. "This is unreal, and the sky is purple! Purple! Two moons? No fucking way," she ran towards the yellow tree and raised her head as she stared at the leaves. "Why's it so beautiful here?"

A vast difference from the place she calls home.

She ran towards me giggling and jumped up and down like those annoying small stibbars, but she would probably like those, seeing how fascinated she was just by the sky. "Why would you bother coming on Earth when you live in such a magnificent place?"

"It is beautiful but not magnificent," I shuddered, and she stuck out her tongue.

“I could live here forever; it even smells real,” she said after considering her words. “Original, I guess?”

“Earth isn’t so bad,” I said, and she looked at me from the corner of her eyes. “Well, it doesn’t matter. Let's get you to the house,” she followed after me, commenting on everything she saw.

“Your grass is—" she squealed and her energy quickly dwindled down as she tilted her head to the said. "Lamely green."

“It’s a variation of colours, but the green grass shows that the land is still good,” I explained, but it seemed she wasn’t listening. “Why are you staring at the zwinoni? Is it the first time you see them?”

“Zwee-know-nee?”

“Zwinoni,” I corrected her pronunciation. “I believe on earth they’re called birds.”

“Oh, well, yes. Our zwinoni’s have two wings, I’ve never seen one with three wings and two heads,” she said slowly. “I don’t like it,” she shook her head, and I chuckled.

We finally arrived at the house, and I showed her around the ground floor. Where the kitchen was, the guest bathroom, laundry room not that I was there a lot. The backyard opened up into the woods, which was my paradise, but she seemed to be more interested in the house.

“This is my room, absolutely off limits to you,” I said as I pointed to my bedroom, she pouted and cocked her head to the side.

“Why?” She shook her chest, a devious grin on her face. She's sick.

“Because I said so.”

“Mhmh,” she shrugged and walked away. “So, which one is mine?”

“Unfortunately, this one,” I pointed to the door opposite my room. Her eyes lit up as she opened the door, but the scowl didn’t match her previous excitement.

“Ah,” she softly whispered.

“What do you mean, ah?” I had no idea why that sound offended me, but it did. It was way better than her small apartment.

“It’s something,” she said, looking at the bed. "But I want your room."

"No." I declined, and she rolled her eyes.

“Well, thank you for showing me around. I think I’ll be going back to sleep and wake up on Earth in my bed this time,” she said with a small smile as she closed the door, leaving me alone in the hallway.

Well good riddance, I hope she does wake up on Earth this time. I sighed as I rubbed my neck; what in the world led me to mark her? I couldn't wholly remember that night; I blacked out when she started drinking with me, and she drank quite a lot.

I pushed my hands into my pockets, left the house, and headed to the pack house.

“Where is Amanah?” My mother asked me, holding linen in her arms. She looked behind me. “You were supposed to bring her here after you showed her your house!”

“She said she wanted to sleep and wake up on Earth,” I shrugged my shoulders, and my mother scowled at me, smacking her lips together.

“You know very well that won't happen. You should treat her right; she’s pregnant with your child,” I followed behind her as she demanded I treat Amanah like an equal.

“Listen, I don’t think it’s a good idea for her to live with me,” I said. My mom turned around and raised her eyebrows as she put the pillows down.

“What do you mean?” She put her hands on her hips and cocked her head to the side. She's angry. Of course, she would be; on a crucial work trip, I made a baby with a human who wasn't even my mate. I put my mother in a very uncomfortable position, especially if she would be dealing with the council on my behalf.

“Mom, you know how Orion gets; they can’t be in the same space,” I reasoned with her, and she waved her hand.

“He’s obviously the one that marked her. He chose her; they will get along just fine,” she dismissed, and I groaned. That's precisely why I didn't want them in the same space!

“What if that isn’t the case? What if it was me in control and I—”

“Was it you?” She asked, and I shook my head no. “Then don’t worry about it; they will be fine.”

I left my mom in the pack house feeling the need to think things over, preferably running. I took my shirt off and talked to Orion or tried to.

“Orion, shift,” I commanded, and he kept quiet. “Orion!”

“What?” He answered gruffly.

“I said shift.”

“Don’t feel like it,” he propped his head on his hand. Once again, he seated on that stupid throne he had created for himself—he said since he was the god of Lycans, it was only fitting that he had a throne, in my fucking mind.

“Out of all the wolves I could've been given, I was given a century-old stupid lycan!” I grunted as I walked through the woods, slowly picking up speed and getting ready to shift. “A stupid lazy lycan that only comes out when he wants to impregnate a weak human instead of a worthy wolf.”

“Don’t push me, Miall,” he growled back, and I scoffed.

“What are you going to do? Hurt me? As if you cou—ah!” I felt my bones break as he took over my body; I almost forgot how much it hurt to shift when he was angry. Amanah was right, fuck, I am weak.

“Calling me stupid?” I smirked from inside, and he chuckled. “We’ll see about that,” I could feel myself losing consciousness and cursed myself for not thinking this through. He was about to do something reckless, and I could feel his mood lifting as he took over.

Amanah.

“Orion! Don't you dare go th—”

“Go to sleep, Miall.”
