TCG: Chapter 31

I stared at the huge statue that Evander had fished from the water. It looked exactly like the one I saw in my dream when drowning in the ocean.

"So, nothing?" Evander asked as he put his hands on his hips, waiting expectedly.

I slowly shook my head and gave him an apologetic look.

"No, I can't sense anything. It's just stone," I shrugged, and he sighed as he dropped his head.

"Just stone?" He squeaked out as he kicked a rock on the ground. "She's just stone!"

"Maybe it needs sacrifice?" I tried, and he looked at me, amused but mostly annoyed.

"What kind of crappy neighbourhood did you grow up in? Sacrifice? No, her stone body won't crack because her soul isn't here anymore," he said as he pointed between me and the stone.

"Well, where is her soul?" I asked, amused at how stressed he was about all of this.

"It was in you. It's probably buried deep somewhere in all that anguish you keep to yourself."
