'Do their own thing' as in finding a side piece?

I looked incredulously at Henry.

I remembered how indifferent Macie had been, even encouraging me to spend more time with Henry. Feeling conflicted, I hung up and blocked Henry on Messenger.

As an adult Latin dance instructor, I had been preparing my students for a city-level competition that was taking place next month. We needed a partner for the duet routines, but my male partner had to quit due to family issues, which slowed down our progress.

In our line of work, the closer it got to the weekend, the busier we were.

The principal told me a new male instructor would join us today. He was supposedly very skilled and had won many awards, but he could only work part-time because he was a full-time doctor.

As Henry walked in, I groaned inwardly. Of all the doctors, he had to be the one to be my temporary colleague?
