Chapter Sixty-Seven

I woke up the next morning to find out that the house was swarming with guards.

From the look of things, it seemed like they were well-trained. I had no idea what must have happened; I wondered if we were attacked while I was asleep, but the house looked fine.

I came downstairs, heading to the kitchen. I walked by Mom's room; it was open, and she was sitting on the bed sipping some hot chocolate while going through her phone.

"Knock, knock," I said, standing at the door.

"Honey, you are awake. Wait, why are you up so early?" she asked.

"Am I?" I asked, then glanced at the clock on the dresser.

"Did I miss something?" I asked, pointing at the guards.

"I don't know, but I think something happened; they came yesterday night," she explained.

I must have been in deep sleep to even notice; I had no idea when Hayden came in yesterday or when he left too.

I guess the whole drama yesterday must have taken a toll on me. That reminds me, Sheila has some explaining to do, like why on ear
