Chapter 73

In my carriage, a man was waiting for me.

“You do not seem surprised to see me.”

I took a seat opposite Koa, taking out the pins in my hair.

“Somehow, I had expected to see you today. You knew I would be out today.” I did not bother to greet him as I shook out my hair which Sonia had put up tightly. My head throbbed as I moved it.

“Were you expecting me?” His eyes were alight as he spoke. “Were you looking forward to seeing me?”

“Who is the man that snuck into my room in the dead of night and harassed me with a multitude of letters in just a few weeks? It was not that I was looking forward to seeing you, but that I knew you would find a way to see me.” I touched my temple. “How did you even get in here?”

“Surprisingly, I only needed to use the door.” He got out of his seat and took a step towards me. “I missed you.” There was a smirk on his lips and no sincerity in his words.

“You must not have had enough work to do if you had the time to miss me,” I sneered.
