Five

"Good mornings June, is Elsa here?"

"Asher, what are you doing here?" June asked.

"I saw the divorce announcement and I knew if she wasn't here, you would know where she was. Where is she?" he asked.

"She is here, come in." June replied as she stepped back allowing Asher into the house.

"June who was at the door?" Elsa asked as she came out of the kitchen holding two bowls of cereal.

She came to an abrupt stop when she saw Asher.

"Asher?"

"Hi Elsa."

June went to Elsa and took one of the bowls from her.

"He came to see you, I will be in the kitchen." she whispered.

Before Elsa could stop her, June had already left, leaving Elsa and Asher alone.

"please sit down." she told Asher.

"Thanks." Asher said as he sat down.

"How have you been?" Elsa asked him.

"I am fine. What about you, I saw the announcement June made yesterday, I got so concerned. I knew you had to be here or she would know where I could find you."

"I am okay Asher, divorce isn't a shocking thing. When you feel the marriage isn't going anywhere, a divorce is usually the best option." Elsa told him.

"I see, I was just worried about you."

"Thanks Asher, I was really surprised to see you. The last time we saw each other was..." Elsa trailed off.

"at your wedding" Asher completed the sentence.

They both looked at each other as they remembered what had happened the last time they saw each other.

Six years ago......

Elsa stepped into the waiting room. This was her wedding day, today she would marry the man she loved, Gabriel.

She tried to stabilize her emotions. The argument she had with June earlier had left her shaken.

Why couldn't everyone just be happy for her and her choice with marriage. She loved Gabriel and she wasn't dumb for choosing to retire.

She heard someone enter the room. She looked up, it was Asher.

"Hey Elsie, are you okay?" he asked as he sat down close to her.

She looked at him fondly, he was one of the most important people in her life and she was happy he was here with her on her wedding day.

"I am fine, just excited to become Mrs Lockwood."

"hmm I see."

"Ash, I know you don't like Gabriel. But he is a nice person and with time you will like him."

"Its not about me liking him or not, it's about if he is good for you, I don't want you making a mistake."

"So you also think I am making a mistake marrying him. June has just said I was making a mistake and now it's your turn?" she asked him.

He took her hands and held them.

"Elsie, don't get angry. I don't think you are making a mistake, maybe I am just being selfish."

"selfish, what do you mean by that?"

"I am in love with you Elsie. You are the woman I love and want to be with." he confessed to her.

Elsa looked at him in shock. She withdrew her hands.

"Ash, you are seventeen, I am twenty three. What do you know about love?"

"I know enough to know that I love you and want to be with you forever. Please leave him, let's run away."

Elsa stood up, "are you okay Asher, I should leave my wedding to be with you, a teenager, I raised?"

Asher stood up with her, "Elsie please just wait for me please." he begged her.

He leaned down and kissed her.

Elsa was in shock for some minutes before pulling away.

She slapped him hard on his face.

"How dare you? Are you mad?" she yelled.

"I am sorry Elsa, I don't know what came over me?" he apologized.

"may we all stand for the bride." the Mc announced over the microphone.

"Get out!" Elsa told him.

"I am supposed to walk you down the aisle." Asher told her.

"after what just happened, hell no!"

"They are already calling you. There is no time. We are actors, let's act together one last time and I will never bother you again." he told her.

She looked at him, fury boiling in her.

He was right, there was no time to get someone to walk her down the aisle anymore.

She put on a smile and took his hand.

The doors opened and they marched down the aisle together.

He gave her hand to Gabriel when they got there.

And that had been the last time they saw each other.

PRESENT DAY

"I am really sorry about what happened that day Elsa. I was just a silly teenager with a silly crush." Asher apologized.

"It's okay, I should never have hit you either. When I took you from your father, I promised you no one would ever hit you again and yet I was the one who did it."

"its okay, at least I deserved it. I shouldn't have done that."

"Truce?" she stretched out her hand.

He took it, "truce" he agreed.

"So how have you been? I have followed up your career and you have done amazing. Four time older of the Nocturne award for best actor. You have broken my record." she praised him.

He shrugged bashfully.

"I guess so, just following your footsteps."

"I am really proud of you Asher."

"So what are you going to do now? Will you go back to acting?" he asked her.

"No, I won't, for now, I am just going to be a couch potato living off June."

He smiled, he handed her a card.

"Call me if you need anything Elsa, I will always be there for you."

She took the card, "Thanks Asher."

"You are welcome, I should be on my way. Say bye to June for me."

"i will."

Elsa walked him to the door and watched as he entered his car and left.

She locked the door and leaned against it as she studied the card.

Somehow seeing Asher again hadn't been something she counted on. She smiled to herself, she had missed him a lot.
