Chapter 9

MAYA'S POV

Three days since my encounter with my Lycan mates and I could not be less grateful. Settling in a new environment is bound to take a whole lot of time, but I am adapting quickly.

“My father has suggested that we meet with him after the meeting.” My thoughts vanished the moment Jenkins spoke, causing me to look at him.

“Do you think he is going to like me?” I asked, worry filling up my face.

“My father has no choice Maya, we are mates and that is all that matters.” He replied, raising up from the bed and holding my hands while we locked eyes with each other. “You don’t have anything to worry about, I know my father may have his own share of problems, but I am sure that we will be fine.”

“Where are the rest?” I asked.

“All that matters is that I am here now.” 

As we continued to share our intimate moment, I knew the rest of my mates will not be happy seeing Jenkins this close to me.

There is a loud knock on the door, causing the both of us to break away from the moment of intimacy that we were about to share.

He rose up from the bed and I admired his physique while he went to get the door opened. His beta stepped inside and for some reason; he had a scowl on his face.

“Your father has demanded that you come with your…mate to meet him in his chambers immediately.” He revealed.

“And why did you use such a tone for my mate? Do you have a problem with my mate Aiden?” Aiden looked away from my mate as he is questioned heavily.

“I don’t have a problem with your mate sir; I don’t just understand why a young maiden would act out as something she isn’t.” I gasped as Aiden is slammed to the wall and a loud growl coming out of the lips of my mate.

“Talk about her that way one more time and I swear I will snap your head.” He threatened.

“I…I am sorry.” Aiden struggled with his breath while he spoke.

“Its okay, I don’t think we should harm him.” I interrupted the both of them, feeling sorry for the young Beta.

“He just tried to discredit you Maya.” 

“And I think he has learnt his lesson.” I assured him with a smile.

He let go of his hands on Aiden’s neck and the young Beta gasped for air as he fell to the ground. 

“Now say your apologies!” He kicked Aiden by the side after giving out his order.

“I am sorry Luna; I will not do it again.” I felt pity for him and rose from the bed, walking past my mate and reaching out to him.

“Here, let me help you.” I offered.

Aiden hesitated but took my hands regardless and I helped him back up to his feet. “I know things might seem absurd with me and the Alpha right now, but believe me when the moon goddess has chosen two individuals no one can stop it.” 

He gave me a nod and bowed before leaving the room once again. I felt strong arms wrapped around my hips and he took in my scent.

“You shouldn’t have kicked him, you know they are still trying to get around the fact that I am around you.” I revealed.

“I will snap on any one, who dares speak to my mate in such a way.” His kiss on my neck caused me to giggle and he proceeds to tickle me.

“Now let us go and see what my father has to say.” He held my hands and we both walked out of the room afterwards

When we arrived at his father’s chambers, the light was totally dim and the room was cold. There is a king sized bed and an old man lying inside the curtains used to protect the bed.

“Father, it’s me.” My mate said as we come forward to meet up with him. “I came with my mate.” He added.

When we pulled the curtains apart, the old man laying on the bed struggle to stand up from the bed.

“You have a mate now?” He asked placing his back on the wall.

“The moon goddess brought her to us” He replied.

“Let me see her.” It is in that moment that I realize he had no sight.

I walked forward to the old man, whose grey hairs almost covered his face. He stretched out his hands and I moved my face to him. His rough hands caress my face and he took in a deep breath and retrieves his hands afterwards.

“The prophecies were true.” He mentioned after I returned back to stand beside my mate.

“What prophecies are you talking about father?” My mate asks.

“The young maiden who is born a moon child, mated to a sun child forging the waves of destiny.” I turned to look at my mate and he had the same confused look like myself.

“Do not think I don’t know what I say boy!” He said with a hint of annoyance. “The arrival of your mate means that my time has come and now you must take charge of the pack and be a leader to it.”

“Father, your time has not come. You are going to live long to hold your grand son in your arms.” 

“It is time son…” I watched in shock as the old man fall back down to the bed. My mate rush over to his side.

“Father! Father!!” He shook him and looked back at me, shocks written on his face. He rose from the bed and held my hand and we quickly leave the room.

“We need to get the pack healer in time.” He said as soon as we pull the door open. “Somebody get me Aiden at once!” He ordered the pack soldiers who were patrolling by the door.

Minutes later an old man arrives with a bag in his hands, stepping inside the room while we remained outside. I squeezed his hands in comfort and also hope that his father might be okay.

After half an hour, the door opened and the healer stepped out looking moody. 

“I am sorry, your father is gone.”
