Chapter 6

MAYA'S POV

Why does fate has to be cruel to me? 

Standing at the podium is one half of the men who I found out on the night of our intimacy, was my mate.

“You are all welcome both old and new employees, I look  forward to working with each and everyone of you .” He said, eyes fixed in my direction.

Barely minutes later, he was done with his address and as he stepped down from the podium, I knew he was coming for me. I did not want to have anything to do with him or his brothers.

As the crowd of workers disperse, I tried to hide amongst their midst hoping I wont be found and that is until I bumped into someone.

“You escaped me once, I am not letting that happen again.” He said, grabbing my arms forcefully, despite my protest.

“Boss, the conference… We are late already.” The young lady behind him spoke with her eyes down.

“Tell everyone that the meeting has been postponed.” He responded, his gaze not leaving mine.

“But sir….” The young lady held her lips, the moment he turned around to look at her. “I am sorry sir, I will deliver your message at once.” She revealed, before turning around and leaving the hall, which was now empty.

“Please let me go.” I pleaded desperately, as he held my hand firmly.

“So you can run away again? I am sorry to break it to you, but I am not letting you leave again.” 

He began to pull me along as we moved out of the hall and despite my struggle to get away from him, he was too strong.

We stepped out of the company and he forcefully pushed me inside the car. While in the car, I watched him pull out his phone and begin to dial up a number, while keeping a watch on me.

“I found her.” He said and hung up afterwards.

As we drove off the company, something tells me that he had called the rest of his brothers, who were also my mate.

Just when I believed everything could possibly go well in my life, it is obvious that I am going to be stuck with my triplet mates.

We arrived at the mansion and I remained in the car as he stepped out, not willing to step into the mansion. The door opened and he stretched out his hands for me to take it, but I refused.

“Can you just stop being stubborn?” He said, but I remained still.

After a momentary pause, he reached out and once again forcefully drags me out of the car despite my protest against his act.

He pushed the door opened, ushering us into a luxurious living room which had me in awe momentarily. For a moment I was amazed by the lightings and the way the colors on the wall made the room beautiful.

However, all my amazement went down the drain, when my eyes landed on the other brothers, who were rushing down the stairs in such hastiness. 

I stepped backward, seeing they were coming at my direction and although excitement on their faces, I did not want to be touched by neither of them.

“Boys calm down, you are scaring her.” Their brother Jayden revealed, stepping forward to stop them.

“Scaring her? Its been  three months since I last saw her, I am not going to let my mate out of my sight again.” One of them said.

“Hold on a second Jenkin… She is not meant for only you but for me as well.” 

“Listen to yourself Jayden, you barely have time for anything but business, what makes you think you can handle her?” Jenkin replied.

“The both of you are absolutely delusional, neither of you deserve her. Jenkins you are loud and overbearing, Jayden you are just too business minded” The last of the triplet Jethro turned to my direction. “If there is anybody that deserves her as a mate, it has to be me.” 

While they kept on arguing, I am left in the pool of my thoughts. The moon goddess didn’t have to be so cruel to grant me triplets, who don’t have mutual understanding of each other as mate.

“What are you called…” The question pulled me away from my thoughts, the triplets all staring in my direction with curiosity.

“Maya I answered, Look I understand getting to have a mate is a great thing for the three of you, but I cannot be mated to anyone of you. All I want is my peace of mind.” I explained.

“You don’t have to say something like that, don’t mind Jayden and Jethro, they are always annoying and thinks they are in a competition with me, but we both know you deserve a man who knows how to treat you right.”

“When are you ever going to get this entitlement mentality out of your system?”  

They were so identical that I could not tell them apart. “Which one of you is Jayden, Jethro and Jenkins?” I asked.

As they began to introduce themselves one by one, I felt uneasy for a second but recovered immediately. 

“Are you alright?” Jayden asked, a show of concern on his face.

“How can she be alright, when you both have been acting like babies.” Jethro responded.

“I just want to go home.” I announced to the three of them, while resting my hand on the couch for support, as I was too tired.

“Then I will take you home.” Jenkins offered.

“No stupid, I brought her here, so I should be the one to take her home.” Jayden replied and once again, they begin to argue at the top of their voices.

As they kept arguing, everything around me began to move in circle and I felt their voices drowning and my weight on the couch becoming further heavy.

“Are you alright?” I heard one of my mate ask, but everything was slowly fading out including their voices.

My attempt to lift my hands off the couch failed and fell to the floor.

The last thing I noticed was the faces of my mates before everything became dark.
