Chapter 6

I was just a waitress when I first met Walter.

He was a regular customer at the restaurant I worked at. He would come and sit in the same spot every single day without fail. That was how I got to know him. He sent me home once when it was raining quite heavily, and that was how everything started for us.

It was a very sweet and romantic start, but it also ended like a nightmare.

There hadn't been anyone who came between us trying to tear us apart. He also didn't have a returning first love. It had only ended because he thought his father's "friend" was more important than I was—so important that he didn't even care about his own unborn baby's life.

That was the only dealbreaker between us.

I kept trying to get them to stand up, but they refused and just kept apologizing. In the end, Mom told me to pack up the kiosk so that we could go home and sleep.

We were getting our divorces no matter what.

"Walter, I've already lost my baby. Can't we at least separate on a good note?"
