Chapter 5

Mom and I were discharged from the hospital that same night.

We went back to the old house we used to live in. It had been a long time since we stayed there, so we spent a long time cleaning it up. In the end, we were so tired that we just fell onto the mattress and went to sleep right away.

The next day, we tried urging Walter and Thomas to sign the divorce papers, but they refused.

It was the same situation for the next few days. They still refused to sign.

Meanwhile, Mom and I started a small business selling trinkets at a roadside kiosk. If we really were to leave the Patterson family, we still needed a means to earn our living.

Mom was a natural salesperson. She was good at bringing in customers and selling them our stuff. With that, we managed to make a sizable amount of money every day.
