NINETEEN

KIERA’S POV

The world around me was a blur of shadows and I fought to break through the haze, my heart racing with confusion as I slowly regained consciousness.

“Hey, Kiera, can you hear me?” Gabriel’s voice pierced through the fog, and I managed to open my eyes, blinking against the harsh light.

“What happened?” I croaked, my throat dry as sandpaper.

“You collapsed,” he said, his brow furrowed with concern. “Are you okay?”

I took a shaky breath, trying to piece together my scattered thoughts.

“I just… I feel exhausted.”

“I was so worried when you passed out. We shouldn’t have involved you in that conversation. I’m sorry,” he said, guilt clouding his eyes.

“It’s not your fault, I insisted on being present,” I stated, rubbing my temples. “How long have I been out?”

“Eighteen hours,” he replied.

“What! I was out for that long?” I screamed, my voice echoing in the room.

“I’m glad you’re okay now,” he said quickly. “Freshen up and meet me in the dining hall. I have a surprise for you.”
