KIERA’S POV

The dining room felt suffocating as Damien leaned over the table, his expression serious.

“This plan involves so much risk, but it’s worth the shot.”

“Risk? Like everything hasn’t been risky since I arrived in this beautiful mansion BLINDFOLDED,” I shot back, half-joking but mostly serious.

The tension in the air crackled, and I could feel my heart racing, as I tried to mask my fear by being sarcastic.

Damien shot me a hilarious look, but Gabriel chimed in, “Kiera, this isn’t a game. You should leave. I don’t think you can handle this discussion.”

I crossed my arms defiantly, “I’m not going anywhere. This is about me, and I have the right to stay.”

They graded gazes, the weight of their unspoken conversation hanging between us. Gabriel finally nodded, and I felt a rush of relief.

I’m in this, whether they like it or not. I would not be left out and let them plan on doing something dangerous that could ruin my life.
