Chapter 21

Jordan’s POV It’s been three months since I got out of the hospital, and things didn’t feel right or the same. I hadn’t heard from that maid, Ella, and that was a good thing. At least now she understood her place. The last time I warned her about messing with Fiona, she had gotten really upset. She even had the audacity to yell back at me. I had the urge to get her arrested for the disrespect but there was just something about her tone. She sounded hurt. I went back to Evergreen with my girlfriend, Fiona. Sometimes it felt like I knew her and sometimes it felt like she was a stranger to me. “Hey baby, I’ll be going out tonight with a couple of friends.” Fiona said. I watched her from the bed as she put on her jewelry. “What friends Fiona? I know you don’t have friends, so where are you going to, really?” I questioned her. “Come on baby, don’t you know Lily? Today is her birthday. I can’t miss it.” She answered. Who the fuck is Lily? I’ve known Fiona since we were teenage

Chapter 22

Third Person’s POV “I’d like to meet your friend,” Jordan said, staring at Fiona like he knew she was lying. Silence grew between them for a while before she broke it off. “Jake is a very busy guy, Jordan. He'll not have time.” She answered back now leaving Jordan standing and going to the bedroom. Once there, she takes off her clothes and goes for a bath. Jordan gets into the room and lays down on the bed trying to remember if Fiona had always been this hard towards him or did he do something wrong along the way? His thoughts ran wild but got interrupted when Fiona stepped out of the shower. She stood by the bathroom door, a white towel tied around her petite body and another around her red hair. “You know, Jordan, you’ve never been like this before. Why do you always feel the need to track my every step? Don’t you trust me?” Fiona asked as she walked up to Jordan. “All I’m saying here is, you don’t tell me you’re going to see a Lily and then see a Jake. It paints you out a

Chapter 23

Ella’s POV Two more months before my Andrea comes into this chaotic world. I sighed heavily as I continued chopping the onions for our lunch. The Baxter brothers Jake and Jim were back again, considering the fact I couldn’t produce the recent sum of money they asked for. They had promised to make me suffer for the loss of their brother, Brandon and they were doing just that. Jordan had gone back to Evergreen with Fiona, and we lived our separate lives peacefully. Besides, I think what we had was just a fairytale. Did I really think I’d end up with someone like Jordan? I was blinded by the affection he showered me that I couldn’t see him for who he really is. Amnesia or not, he should treat people better. I felt a sharp pain in my hand, bringing my eyes down to see I had cut myself real bad. Maya came rushing to my aid. “Are you ok girl? You should be more careful with knives.” She said, now helping me wash off the blood. “I’ll get the first aid kit. Wait there,” she

Chapter 24

Ella’s POV “This is the police. Open up!” My heart skipped a beat as Maya held on to my hand tightly. “What do we do?” Maya whispered. My breath hitched, my mind raced. I didn't do anything. Why was the police here? I forced myself to stand on my feet, my swollen belly making my movements slower. Maya held my hand, trying to stop me. “I’ll handle it. Don’t worry.” I gave her a reassuring smile and walked to the door opening it just enough to see the officers standing outside. “Isabella Ross,” the taller officer said, his face hard and impassive. “We have a warrant for your arrest in connection with the murder of Brandon Baxter.” I stared at him in shock. My stomach churned, and my knees nearly gave up, holding my body in place. “You’ve got it wrong,” I tried to say. “I didn’t…” The officer held up a folded piece of paper. “There’s evidence tying you to the crime. We need you to come with us.” Maya stepped forward, her voice trembling with outrage. “She’s pregna

Chapter 25

Ella’s POV I sat frozen for a moment, tears streaming down my face and my fingers clenched into a fist as my knuckles turned white against the cold metal table. Taking a deep breath, I leaned back in the chair, trying not to fall off from how dizzy I felt, both by Jake’s words and the baby inside me. Jake’s words rang in my head multiple times. So he knew what his brother had done to me? All this while he knew, but they kept pretending? That family is sick. My thoughts raced. “There has to be a way to expose his lies.” I said to myself out loud. But how? I don’t even have the money to fight him off. I’m pregnant for a man who can’t even remember putting a baby in me. And Maya, my only family, wasn’t so different from me. How was I supposed to fight these people? Jake had talked about a witness. What witness? I need to expose his lies if I want to leave this place, but it’s his word against mine. Jordan had always protected me from them. But now, I’m on my own. I sighed dee

Chapter 26

Jordan’s POV “Are you listening to me, son?” Mother asked, snapping me out of my thoughts. “Yes mum, I think you’re right. I’ll do what’s necessary.” I replied. She paused in silence for a minute before saying. “I hope you know Fiona is the only woman for you? You’ll deeply disappoint me if you let her go. Remember, your dad left us. I didn’t train you to be like him.” “Mum, I’ve told you never compare me to that bastard. I’ll never be like him. I promise you I’ll do what’s necessary. You don’t have to worry about anything.” I gave a stern reply. “Love you, son,” she said and ended the call. I sank deep into my office chair, thinking how I was supposed to get married to someone I thought I loved, but lately it doesn’t feel like it. Mother had called me, reminding me I had proposed to Fiona before the accident and now that I was better, I should continue with the wedding preparations that’s supposed to be in 1 month. How does one prepare for what he can’t even remember?

Chapter 27

Jordan’s POV“Baby, I’m glad you finally get to meet Jake. Isn’t he wonderful?” Fiona said, now placing a kiss on my cheek. Did this woman really think I’m a fool? “Yeah, he’s a handful.” I teased. I had to play cool. If I wanted to find stuff about this guy, I had to behave like I suspected nothing. “Mr Denver, it was really nice meeting you. I’ll be sending over some paperwork concerning my proposal, but I really have to go now. I have some unfinished business to take care of.” He said as he typed down a message on his phone.“I really look forward to doing business with you. And Fiona, you look more beautiful every day. Your soon to be husband is one lucky guy.” He winked at Fiona and with that, he stood up and took his leave. I stared at his retreating back for a while until I could no longer see it. Then turned to stare at Fiona who was now seated, looking at a mirror and arranging her makeup. “Is everything ok? Do you need something?” I questioned, bringing her attention ba

Chapter 28

Ella’s POVMy world had shrunk to the four walls of my jail cell. The cold concrete, the iron bars and the steady hum of fluorescent lights had become my new reality. Days bled into night in the blink of an eye. For a month, I had been held in this limbo, with no chance to defend myself. Little Andrea came growing bigger and bigger. One month before, she is due to come into this wicked world and her mum was sitting in a cell, regretting her actions. I sat on the thin mattress, and my hands rested protectively on my stomach, as the guard approached.“Visitor,” he announced gruffly, unlocking the door. My heart leapt with joy. Finally, maybe my lawyer, Mr Carter, had found a way to get me out of here. Maybe there was hope. I stood slowly, my legs stiff from sitting for hours. I followed the guard down the long, dim corridor. The visitation room was separated by thick glass with a row of telephones mounted on either side. My heart sank when I saw who was waiting for me. Jake.He was

Chapter 29

Jordan’s POVI stood at the altar, many eyes piercing through my skin. Friends of my mum and Auntie Maggie mostly filled the place. Who invites almost five hundred people at a wedding? And the people who take up the invitations, what are they attending? Do they know if love lies here or not?My brain went back and forth when mum walked over and whispered in my ear Fiona would arrive soon. She stepped down, leaving me to my thoughts again. Some weeks back, I had seen a familiar figure. Thinking it was John, I had moved closer to get a look at the guy when Fiona came calling, distracting me. When I turned back to get a better look, he was gone. Like he disappeared. I asked Jerome to search while I went in, but he saw nothing as well.Fuck! I think I’m beginning to lose my mind completely. Last night, instead of dreaming about the woman I’d be marrying today, I had a wet dream about that dumb maid, Ella. I had woken up from a dream where we had sex lots of times and everywhere in the h

Chapter 30

Third Person’s POV “Jordan, baby, I’m so happy we got married. You’ve made me the happiest woman alive. I love you to the moon and back.” Fiona’s voice came out in whispers. She poured some wine into Jordan’s glass and took a seat on his lap. They had arrived at Flamingo 5-star hotel earlier and Fiona had made it her mission to have her husband all to herself throughout their honeymoon. She had instructed for the room to be decorated in a beautiful valentine red theme. Petals of rose flowers littered everywhere. A sweet melody welcomed them as she twirled around, embracing the feeling of being married to the one and only Jordan Denver. It had been hours since they arrived, and Jordan not wanting to disappoint his wife, joined her for drinks “Fiona, I think we should go to bed now. My eyes feel heavy already.” Jordan said as he sinker further into the couch, signaling he had enough to drink. Fiona stood and positioned herself properly so she could face Jordan. She spread her legs n
