Chapter 31

Ella’s POV “You with the enormous belly, you have a visitor.” The bald-headed guard said as he opened up the gates. I hope it’s Maya. She must have some good news for me today. I followed the guard to the visiting room and for a second I wish they could let me go so I actually kill someone. Then they can lock me up for real this time. Fiona stood there with a smirk on her face. “What a bitch,” I muttered before taking a seat. She waved her left hand at me through the glass, purposely showing me the ring on her finger. So Jordan married her. I had made up my mind never to care about any of them ever again, but this hurt me more than anything else. She was happily married to the father of my child. “Hi looser, I can see you’ll be due soon. I hope they’re giving you preferential treatment here, because if they’re not, then that’s absolutely wrong.” She pouted her lip in mockery. “Why are you here Fiona? I don’t think places like this fit your personality. But me, I’m used to t

Chapter 32

Ella’s POV “My father?” My eyes spread wide open, ready to pop out of their sockets. I didn’t have a father. In fact, I had never seen my father. I considered him dead. All this while he didn’t show up and now he does? “Ella, let’s go now. This man doesn’t look like someone who waits for people,” Officer Barrett said as we walked down the halls. What did he mean by that? And how the fuck do I have a father? “This isn’t the usual visitation room. Where are we going to?” I asked, realizing the strange path we had taken. “Just come.” He shrugged. We soon arrived a private room filled with chairs and beautiful curtains. Looked like lots of meetings were held here. Officer Barrett unlocked the cuffs on my hand and walked away. That’s when I noticed a grey-headed man. He had his back turned as he faced the vast windows of the room. “You know Isabella, I had never thought for once I’ll get to learn about you.” The man said in a baritone voice that sent shivers down my spine. Chapter 33

Ella’s POV The airport was unlike anything I had ever seen, but I barely had time to process it. My so-called father moved with the efficiency of a man who controlled everything in his orbit. The moment we arrived, two sleek black SUVs pulled up to the private terminal. Uniformed staff greeted him with reverence, bowing slightly as he passed. “Is this even real?” I whispered to Maya, who walked beside me, her eyes as wide as mine. She shook her head, her voice hushed. “Ella, I think your dad is a freaking billionaire.” Billionaire? That word didn’t even scratch the surface. We stepped inside the private terminal, a place dripping with elegance. Crystal chandeliers hung from the ceiling, polished marble floors reflected every step we took, and the walls were lined with rare art pieces. A steward handed us champagne flutes, but I was too dazed to take a sip. “Let’s go,” my father said, his voice calm but commanding. He gestured toward a jet parked just outside. It wasn’t

Chapter 34

Ella’s POV “Girl, what the fuck just happened today? I mean like where’s this man from? How is he your long-lost dad who abandoned you? Explain this to me because if that’s how kidnappings happen, I might as well thank my kidnappers for saving me.” Maya’s question caught me off guard and before I knew it, we were both laughing. We had gone around the room earlier and it was magical. Nothing compared to this, and I had seen and watched magical movies before. This was simply amazing. The room had a walk-in closet that felt like stepping in to a high end boutique than a personal space. Maya moved closer to me at the edge of the queen size family bed. “When we go clubbing, I’m wearing the champagne velvet dress we saw back there. Remember, I asked early.” She winked. I let out a little chuckle. “How sure are we this man is even related to me? It may be a mistake and we’d be thrown out in minutes. It’s better we don’t get too comfortable. It'll be difficult to leave later on.

Chapter 35

Ella’s POV “Isabella, I have the letter here. In that letter your mum wrote about being in love with me as well and she planned on following me back to London but got threatened by my mum.” He said handing me the letter now. This can’t be true, can it? He’s probably just making all this up. My brain buzzed with a series of questions as I looked at the letter in front of me written in Mrs Rose’s handwriting. He stood up and walked towards the window. “You see Isabella, my mum, your grandmother Nancy didn’t like my relationship with Bella. She hated the fact I had to mix myself up with a nobody as she called it. And she had me betrothed here in London without my knowledge.” “The day before we were to travel, mum visited Bella at Mrs Rose’s laundry shop. According to the letter, she physically hurt your mum, and told her to stay away from me if she wanted to see the break of dawn. Bella had explained to my mum she was pregnant for me, but your grandma rejected you. Bella feared

Chapter 36

Ella’s POV I discovered in a single day that my father hadn’t abandoned me, my mother may not have run away, my grandmother rejected me, and that Maya’s parents were killed. What the actual fuck! “Maya, I’m sorry, but you need to know this as well. It’ll be unfair for me not to treat the woman who has always been there for my daughter as family.” Dad said as he folded his arms on his chest. “Excuse me, Mr Hart, so what you’re saying is, my drunk and substance misuse of a mother didn’t leave me? And my gambler of a father, too? Oh wow? Although I had so much pain and hatred for them in my heart, I thought I felt nothing for them, but this actually hurts me.” Maya said. I brought her in for a hug, not wanting to let go of my dear friend. I know she can be very tough, but right now I could see the hurt in her eyes. We weren’t so different after all. Our parents didn’t willingly leave us behind. One circumstance led to another and I’m happy my dad had found me. “This is where i

Chapter 37

Jordan’s POV “I’m pregnant, babe. Here are the test results. You’re going to be a dad,” Fiona announced as she stomped her hands together in brief cheers. This must be a joke, right? Not like I don’t want a kid, but how? When did we… ? “You don’t look happy about this, Jordan.” Fiona snapped a finger in my face. “Of course I’m happy. I’m going to be a dad. That’s great Fiona. I think we should go over to mum’s and have a little celebration,” I said, trying to calm her down. It’s been two months since we got married, and the path has been rough. So how a baby came about. I can’t seem to wrap my head around it. I needed to ask, just to be sure. I’m not certain Fiona is unfaithful to me and I’m no saint either, but I had my doubts. “Fiona quick question. Was it the night we…?” I didn’t finish, and she cut me off. "You can’t be serious right now, Jordan, can you? We fucking had sex at your office the day I met you drinking. Remember? I brought you home, and we continued.” Wel

Chapter 38

Jordan’s POV I starred at my screen for a couple of minutes before realizing what had actually just happened. So the person I had seen that day was John? I wasn’t hallucinating? He’s alive? But how? My mind raced with countless questions. Another text message came in. “Meet me at the public park at exactly 12am. Don’t text me. I’ll be the person doing the texting and I’ll be waiting for you.” It was 11:30pm and I couldn’t afford to lose this opportunity. If it was a scam, then I’d risk it. They’re just some certain things I need to know and only John can fill me in. I pulled up my trousers and stormed out of the bathroom. “Mum, Fiona, Auntie Maggie, y’all go on without me. I’ll be back in a while. Just need to take care of something.” I announced as I arrived at the dinner table. “Where are you off to, son? What’s so important at this time? Your wife is pregnant. She needs you here,” Mother said. “Yes, Baby I need you, please don’t go.” Fiona added. “This is really important.

Chapter 39

Jordan’s POV “Wait what?” “What do you mean by I married the wrong woman? My wife Fiona is at home. First you tell me what the police have been saying about me being the primary target wasn’t true, second you involve that low life maid, third you tell me my mum is a liar and now you say I married the wrong woman?” I yelled. “Boss, I would never force you to believe me because I know your condition. And what I’m about to tell you will not sink in immediately, but one day you’d reflect on this day and remember what I told you. Now let’s take a seat first.” John said as he pointed over to some chairs. It was past midnight, and I was out with a man who was supposed to be dead in the middle of the park. How on earth did I even agree to get here? I thought maybe he could tell me me something reasonable, but I had lost my patience. Nothing made sense. “Boss, the day of the shooting, they thought Ella was in the car with us. I’m very certain they didn’t plan on killing you. Everyth

Chapter 40

Jordan’s POV I guess the therapy session I had been doing was all for nothing because I just got my brain damaged for the second time. I let out a deep sigh and walked back to my car. The night was chilly and I couldn’t sit on this bench anymore. Fiona had been ringing my phone nonstop since I got to the park. Mother as well. I arrived at the mansion in less than ten minutes. “Jerome, here are the keys.” I called and handed them over. I definitely didn’t like to drive and I don’t think I’d be doing that anytime soon. “Boss, there’s something. They rushed Ma’am Fiona to the hospital minutes after you left. They’ve tried getting to you, but you switched your phone off.” Jerome said. “What? Why is Fiona at the hospital? What happened?” I asked, rushing back into the car. “You know what? Just drive me there now.” I yelled. Jerome got in and drove away immediately. What had I done? Damn, I hope Fiona and the baby are okay. I should have picked up my calls, but no I decided to li
