Jordan’s POV

“Are you listening to me, son?” Mother asked, snapping me out of my thoughts. “Yes mum, I think you’re right. I’ll do what’s necessary.” I replied.

She paused in silence for a minute before saying. “I hope you know Fiona is the only woman for you? You’ll deeply disappoint me if you let her go. Remember, your dad left us. I didn’t train you to be like him.”

“Mum, I’ve told you never compare me to that bastard. I’ll never be like him. I promise you I’ll do what’s necessary. You don’t have to worry about anything.” I gave a stern reply.

“Love you, son,” she said and ended the call. I sank deep into my office chair, thinking how I was supposed to get married to someone I thought I loved, but lately it doesn’t feel like it.

Mother had called me, reminding me I had proposed to Fiona before the accident and now that I was better, I should continue with the wedding preparations that’s supposed to be in 1 month. How does one prepare for what he can’t even remember?

Jordan’s POV“Baby, I’m glad you finally get to meet Jake. Isn’t he wonderful?” Fiona said, now placing a kiss on my cheek. Did this woman really think I’m a fool? “Yeah, he’s a handful.” I teased. I had to play cool. If I wanted to find stuff about this guy, I had to behave like I suspected nothing. “Mr Denver, it was really nice meeting you. I’ll be sending over some paperwork concerning my proposal, but I really have to go now. I have some unfinished business to take care of.” He said as he typed down a message on his phone.“I really look forward to doing business with you. And Fiona, you look more beautiful every day. Your soon to be husband is one lucky guy.” He winked at Fiona and with that, he stood up and took his leave. I stared at his retreating back for a while until I could no longer see it. Then turned to stare at Fiona who was now seated, looking at a mirror and arranging her makeup. “Is everything ok? Do you need something?” I questioned, bringing her attention ba

Ella’s POVMy world had shrunk to the four walls of my jail cell. The cold concrete, the iron bars and the steady hum of fluorescent lights had become my new reality. Days bled into night in the blink of an eye. For a month, I had been held in this limbo, with no chance to defend myself. Little Andrea came growing bigger and bigger. One month before, she is due to come into this wicked world and her mum was sitting in a cell, regretting her actions. I sat on the thin mattress, and my hands rested protectively on my stomach, as the guard approached.“Visitor,” he announced gruffly, unlocking the door. My heart leapt with joy. Finally, maybe my lawyer, Mr Carter, had found a way to get me out of here. Maybe there was hope. I stood slowly, my legs stiff from sitting for hours. I followed the guard down the long, dim corridor. The visitation room was separated by thick glass with a row of telephones mounted on either side. My heart sank when I saw who was waiting for me. Jake.He was

Jordan’s POVI stood at the altar, many eyes piercing through my skin. Friends of my mum and Auntie Maggie mostly filled the place. Who invites almost five hundred people at a wedding? And the people who take up the invitations, what are they attending? Do they know if love lies here or not?My brain went back and forth when mum walked over and whispered in my ear Fiona would arrive soon. She stepped down, leaving me to my thoughts again. Some weeks back, I had seen a familiar figure. Thinking it was John, I had moved closer to get a look at the guy when Fiona came calling, distracting me. When I turned back to get a better look, he was gone. Like he disappeared. I asked Jerome to search while I went in, but he saw nothing as well.Fuck! I think I’m beginning to lose my mind completely. Last night, instead of dreaming about the woman I’d be marrying today, I had a wet dream about that dumb maid, Ella. I had woken up from a dream where we had sex lots of times and everywhere in the h

Third Person’s POV “Jordan, baby, I’m so happy we got married. You’ve made me the happiest woman alive. I love you to the moon and back.” Fiona’s voice came out in whispers. She poured some wine into Jordan’s glass and took a seat on his lap. They had arrived at Flamingo 5-star hotel earlier and Fiona had made it her mission to have her husband all to herself throughout their honeymoon. She had instructed for the room to be decorated in a beautiful valentine red theme. Petals of rose flowers littered everywhere. A sweet melody welcomed them as she twirled around, embracing the feeling of being married to the one and only Jordan Denver. It had been hours since they arrived, and Jordan not wanting to disappoint his wife, joined her for drinks “Fiona, I think we should go to bed now. My eyes feel heavy already.” Jordan said as he sinker further into the couch, signaling he had enough to drink. Fiona stood and positioned herself properly so she could face Jordan. She spread her legs n

Ella’s POV “You with the enormous belly, you have a visitor.” The bald-headed guard said as he opened up the gates. I hope it’s Maya. She must have some good news for me today. I followed the guard to the visiting room and for a second I wish they could let me go so I actually kill someone. Then they can lock me up for real this time. Fiona stood there with a smirk on her face. “What a bitch,” I muttered before taking a seat. She waved her left hand at me through the glass, purposely showing me the ring on her finger. So Jordan married her. I had made up my mind never to care about any of them ever again, but this hurt me more than anything else. She was happily married to the father of my child. “Hi looser, I can see you’ll be due soon. I hope they’re giving you preferential treatment here, because if they’re not, then that’s absolutely wrong.” She pouted her lip in mockery. “Why are you here Fiona? I don’t think places like this fit your personality. But me, I’m used to t

Ella’s POV “My father?” My eyes spread wide open, ready to pop out of their sockets. I didn’t have a father. In fact, I had never seen my father. I considered him dead. All this while he didn’t show up and now he does? “Ella, let’s go now. This man doesn’t look like someone who waits for people,” Officer Barrett said as we walked down the halls. What did he mean by that? And how the fuck do I have a father? “This isn’t the usual visitation room. Where are we going to?” I asked, realizing the strange path we had taken. “Just come.” He shrugged. We soon arrived a private room filled with chairs and beautiful curtains. Looked like lots of meetings were held here. Officer Barrett unlocked the cuffs on my hand and walked away. That’s when I noticed a grey-headed man. He had his back turned as he faced the vast windows of the room. “You know Isabella, I had never thought for once I’ll get to learn about you.” The man said in a baritone voice that sent shivers down my spine. Ella’s POV The airport was unlike anything I had ever seen, but I barely had time to process it. My so-called father moved with the efficiency of a man who controlled everything in his orbit. The moment we arrived, two sleek black SUVs pulled up to the private terminal. Uniformed staff greeted him with reverence, bowing slightly as he passed. “Is this even real?” I whispered to Maya, who walked beside me, her eyes as wide as mine. She shook her head, her voice hushed. “Ella, I think your dad is a freaking billionaire.” Billionaire? That word didn’t even scratch the surface. We stepped inside the private terminal, a place dripping with elegance. Crystal chandeliers hung from the ceiling, polished marble floors reflected every step we took, and the walls were lined with rare art pieces. A steward handed us champagne flutes, but I was too dazed to take a sip. “Let’s go,” my father said, his voice calm but commanding. He gestured toward a jet parked just outside. It wasn’t

Ella’s POV “Girl, what the fuck just happened today? I mean like where’s this man from? How is he your long-lost dad who abandoned you? Explain this to me because if that’s how kidnappings happen, I might as well thank my kidnappers for saving me.” Maya’s question caught me off guard and before I knew it, we were both laughing. We had gone around the room earlier and it was magical. Nothing compared to this, and I had seen and watched magical movies before. This was simply amazing. The room had a walk-in closet that felt like stepping in to a high end boutique than a personal space. Maya moved closer to me at the edge of the queen size family bed. “When we go clubbing, I’m wearing the champagne velvet dress we saw back there. Remember, I asked early.” She winked. I let out a little chuckle. “How sure are we this man is even related to me? It may be a mistake and we’d be thrown out in minutes. It’s better we don’t get too comfortable. It'll be difficult to leave later on.

My body felt paralyzed, and my head throbbed a lot. Once I finally got my eyes to open, I turned my neck slowly to look around me, but there was no one. This place sure wasn’t my home. The house looked like it had been made strictly out of bamboo. “Where am I?” I murmured, trying to wake up from the painful bed I had been laying on, but I noticed footsteps approaching, and I pretended to be asleep. What if they were bad people and wanted to hurt me? I had to be careful. “Maria!” I heard a female voice yell, and some more footsteps approached.“Yes, Mum?”I struggled to peep and found a younger lady; she looked about 18 years old.“I was finally able to get us some newspapers. Now look at this woman in the picture; doesn’t she look like this lady we saved?” The woman asked, and th

Jordan’s POVThe drive back home was long and silent. I had shut my mind away from any sound and let my thoughts swirl around. It was pretty late, and I was certain Andrea should have been sleeping, so I didn’t bother to check. I went straight ahead to find John. I made it inside, and Miss Anna was in the kitchen as usual. I wondered if this woman ever got to take time off for herself and just stop standing there always. She noticed my presence and turned to me immediately with a smile. “Good evening, Mr. Denver,” she bowed and greeted, but I shrugged, and her smile faded fast. “Where are Jerome and John?” I asked in a calm but stern tone. “They’re by the pool, sir, having a drink,” she replied, her voice shaky. I turned on my heel without so much as a thank you and made my way to the pool area. John and Jerome seemed to be having a great discussion. I could tell from how loud their laughter was as I approached them. Why does everyone find it so fucking easy to move on from the d

Jordan’s POV“Jess!”“Jess!”“Bye, Jordan, please take care of yourself and Andrea, that’s my only wish,” Jess sobbed, standing before me in the white, silky nightgown she wore on the night of the explosion, but it was messed up with blood stains.“Don’t tell me goodbye, Jess. Andrea’s waiting for you, and I am too. Please stay, my love,” I wailed, but she began to disappear into the darkness.“I love you, Jordan. I’ll always love you,” she yelled and disappeared completely. I had tried to grab her hand, but she was gone. The woman I loved so much was gone.“No, Jess, I love you. Please don’t leave me,” I cried, tossing and turning, sweat dripping down my face faster than a water slide. I dug my fingers into the sheets and held on tight, as if doing that would make her appear again.I felt a hand on my shoulder. “Boss…” the voice came, but my eyes refused to cooperate. “Boss, it’s me, John,” the voice came again, this time shaking me with more force.“Jess!” I kept yelling as the tear

Jess’s POVThe night breeze blew Jess’s hair in the right direction as I wrapped my hands around her waist from behind, my head buried in her neck. We had chosen to spend our honeymoon enjoying the sweetness of nature, and I must say it was the best decision.“This is incredible,” she whispered, turning her face slightly behind to meet mine.I grinned, pulling her tighter. “Only the best for my wife,” I said, my voice laced with affection. I kissed her cheeks softly. “It’s only the beginning of a good life, Mrs. Denver.”The evening went on smoothly as we dined under the stars on the upper deck. The candlelights flickered between us, and the sound of the stream brought out sweet melodies. After dinner, we had an intense lovemaking session until Jess could no longer feel her body move. Her tiredness made me chuckle as I covered her up in some sheets and made my way outside to enjoy the rest of the night. But as I stepped out of the door leading to the upper deck, I felt a cold metal po

Third Person’s POVJordan’s fear about the message he received in Vegas lingered. Even as they returned to Evergreen, and right up till today, their wedding day, it haunted him. As he dressed up in his impeccable suit, Jordan and Jerome stood behind him with grins on their faces. Jordan turned around to face them as Jerome pretended to make crying noises. “I can’t believe he’s all grown up,” he teased, and they burst into laughter.Jordan stretched out his hands as they helped him with his cufflinks. “John, what did Officer Benette say about the messages I’ve been receiving?” he asked as a frown settled on his face.“He’s suspecting it to be from Jake and his twin. He said it could be they’re trying to scare you, but they have everything under control,” Jerome assured him, but it didn’t ease Jordan’s mind.Since their trip to Vegas a month ago, he had received five unsettling text messages from the same number—both freaky messages and death threats—and he had successfully hidden all

  • After One Night    Chapter 100

Jess’s POVIt had been 1 year since the announcement of Fiona’s death. The day Jordan had broken the news, I felt a mixture of anger, sadness, and satisfaction all at once.Angry because she didn’t suffer for all her crimes, sad because I had just found out she was my sister, and satisfaction because I could finally live peacefully without having to look over my shoulders.“Fiona’s dead,” Jordan had said, and everywhere went dead silent as I almost choked on the glass of water given to me by Chu.“How’s that possible?” Dad asked as Jordan’s hold on his cellphone tightened.“She tried to escape. Her brothers managed to bust her out from jail, but during a police chase, the car she had been riding in exploded while her brothers sped off in their own car, leaving her behind. The body was badly burnt up, and the clothes she had been wearing turned to ash,” Jordan explained as he turned his gaze away from me.It was understandable he had to feel a bit hurt because Fiona was the only thing

Yet, all I could think of is how she left me one day, saying she was going to get food, and she never returned.Dad finally came back inside, with Will following behind him as we braced ourselves for the confession of Mrs. Mei. I had tried so hard not to cry, but hearing your mother being locked up for years until her last breath is the hardest thing to deal with, especially after losing your best friend not so long ago to monsters like Fiona.“I’m sorry, Isabella, please forgive me. The first day I discovered what my job would be, I tried going to the police twice, but each time I stepped foot inside that cell, something bad happened. They were always watching me. They even killed Chu’s mum because I had tried to escape. I lost all hope and did what they asked me to.” Mrs. Mei kept explaining, and I could see the hurt the Baxters must have caus
