Ella’s POV

I sat frozen for a moment, tears streaming down my face and my fingers clenched into a fist as my knuckles turned white against the cold metal table.

Taking a deep breath, I leaned back in the chair, trying not to fall off from how dizzy I felt, both by Jake’s words and the baby inside me. Jake’s words rang in my head multiple times. So he knew what his brother had done to me? All this while he knew, but they kept pretending? That family is sick.

My thoughts raced. “There has to be a way to expose his lies.” I said to myself out loud. But how? I don’t even have the money to fight him off. I’m pregnant for a man who can’t even remember putting a baby in me. And Maya, my only family, wasn’t so different from me. How was I supposed to fight these people?

Jake had talked about a witness. What witness? I need to expose his lies if I want to leave this place, but it’s his word against mine. Jordan had always protected me from them. But now, I’m on my own. I sighed dee

Jordan’s POV “Are you listening to me, son?” Mother asked, snapping me out of my thoughts. “Yes mum, I think you’re right. I’ll do what’s necessary.” I replied. She paused in silence for a minute before saying. “I hope you know Fiona is the only woman for you? You’ll deeply disappoint me if you let her go. Remember, your dad left us. I didn’t train you to be like him.” “Mum, I’ve told you never compare me to that bastard. I’ll never be like him. I promise you I’ll do what’s necessary. You don’t have to worry about anything.” I gave a stern reply. “Love you, son,” she said and ended the call. I sank deep into my office chair, thinking how I was supposed to get married to someone I thought I loved, but lately it doesn’t feel like it. Mother had called me, reminding me I had proposed to Fiona before the accident and now that I was better, I should continue with the wedding preparations that’s supposed to be in 1 month. How does one prepare for what he can’t even remember?

Jordan’s POV“Baby, I’m glad you finally get to meet Jake. Isn’t he wonderful?” Fiona said, now placing a kiss on my cheek. Did this woman really think I’m a fool? “Yeah, he’s a handful.” I teased. I had to play cool. If I wanted to find stuff about this guy, I had to behave like I suspected nothing. “Mr Denver, it was really nice meeting you. I’ll be sending over some paperwork concerning my proposal, but I really have to go now. I have some unfinished business to take care of.” He said as he typed down a message on his phone.“I really look forward to doing business with you. And Fiona, you look more beautiful every day. Your soon to be husband is one lucky guy.” He winked at Fiona and with that, he stood up and took his leave. I stared at his retreating back for a while until I could no longer see it. Then turned to stare at Fiona who was now seated, looking at a mirror and arranging her makeup. “Is everything ok? Do you need something?” I questioned, bringing her attention ba

  • After One Night    Chapter 28

Ella’s POVMy world had shrunk to the four walls of my jail cell. The cold concrete, the iron bars and the steady hum of fluorescent lights had become my new reality. Days bled into night in the blink of an eye. For a month, I had been held in this limbo, with no chance to defend myself. Little Andrea came growing bigger and bigger. One month before, she is due to come into this wicked world and her mum was sitting in a cell, regretting her actions. I sat on the thin mattress, and my hands rested protectively on my stomach, as the guard approached.“Visitor,” he announced gruffly, unlocking the door. My heart leapt with joy. Finally, maybe my lawyer, Mr Carter, had found a way to get me out of here. Maybe there was hope. I stood slowly, my legs stiff from sitting for hours. I followed the guard down the long, dim corridor. The visitation room was separated by thick glass with a row of telephones mounted on either side. My heart sank when I saw who was waiting for me. Jake.He was

Jordan’s POVI stood at the altar, many eyes piercing through my skin. Friends of my mum and Auntie Maggie mostly filled the place. Who invites almost five hundred people at a wedding? And the people who take up the invitations, what are they attending? Do they know if love lies here or not?My brain went back and forth when mum walked over and whispered in my ear Fiona would arrive soon. She stepped down, leaving me to my thoughts again. Some weeks back, I had seen a familiar figure. Thinking it was John, I had moved closer to get a look at the guy when Fiona came calling, distracting me. When I turned back to get a better look, he was gone. Like he disappeared. I asked Jerome to search while I went in, but he saw nothing as well.Fuck! I think I’m beginning to lose my mind completely. Last night, instead of dreaming about the woman I’d be marrying today, I had a wet dream about that dumb maid, Ella. I had woken up from a dream where we had sex lots of times and everywhere in the h

Third Person’s POV “Jordan, baby, I’m so happy we got married. You’ve made me the happiest woman alive. I love you to the moon and back.” Fiona’s voice came out in whispers. She poured some wine into Jordan’s glass and took a seat on his lap. They had arrived at Flamingo 5-star hotel earlier and Fiona had made it her mission to have her husband all to herself throughout their honeymoon. She had instructed for the room to be decorated in a beautiful valentine red theme. Petals of rose flowers littered everywhere. A sweet melody welcomed them as she twirled around, embracing the feeling of being married to the one and only Jordan Denver. It had been hours since they arrived, and Jordan not wanting to disappoint his wife, joined her for drinks “Fiona, I think we should go to bed now. My eyes feel heavy already.” Jordan said as he sinker further into the couch, signaling he had enough to drink. Fiona stood and positioned herself properly so she could face Jordan. Ella’s POV “You with the enormous belly, you have a visitor.” The bald-headed guard said as he opened up the gates. I hope it’s Maya. She must have some good news for me today. I followed the guard to the visiting room and for a second I wish they could let me go so I actually kill someone. Then they can lock me up for real this time. Fiona stood there with a smirk on her face. “What a bitch,” I muttered before taking a seat. She waved her left hand at me through the glass, purposely showing me the ring on her finger. So Jordan married her. I had made up my mind never to care about any of them ever again, but this hurt me more than anything else. She was happily married to the father of my child. “Hi looser, I can see you’ll be due soon. I hope they’re giving you preferential treatment here, because if they’re not, then that’s absolutely wrong.” She pouted her lip in mockery. “Why are you here Fiona? I don’t think places like this fit your personality. But me, I’m used to t

Ella’s POV “My father?” My eyes spread wide open, ready to pop out of their sockets. I didn’t have a father. In fact, I had never seen my father. I considered him dead. All this while he didn’t show up and now he does? “Ella, let’s go now. This man doesn’t look like someone who waits for people,” Officer Barrett said as we walked down the halls. What did he mean by that? And how the fuck do I have a father? “This isn’t the usual visitation room. Where are we going to?” I asked, realizing the strange path we had taken. “Just come.” He shrugged. We soon arrived a private room filled with chairs and beautiful curtains. Looked like lots of meetings were held here. Officer Barrett unlocked the cuffs on my hand and walked away. That’s when I noticed a grey-headed man. He had his back turned as he faced the vast windows of the room. “You know Isabella, I had never thought for once I’ll get to learn about you.” The man said in a baritone voice that sent shivers down my spine. • After One Night    Chapter 33

Ella’s POV The airport was unlike anything I had ever seen, but I barely had time to process it. My so-called father moved with the efficiency of a man who controlled everything in his orbit. The moment we arrived, two sleek black SUVs pulled up to the private terminal. Uniformed staff greeted him with reverence, bowing slightly as he passed. “Is this even real?” I whispered to Maya, who walked beside me, her eyes as wide as mine. She shook her head, her voice hushed. “Ella, I think your dad is a freaking billionaire.” Billionaire? That word didn’t even scratch the surface. We stepped inside the private terminal, a place dripping with elegance. Crystal chandeliers hung from the ceiling, polished marble floors reflected every step we took, and the walls were lined with rare art pieces. A steward handed us champagne flutes, but I was too dazed to take a sip. “Let’s go,” my father said, his voice calm but commanding. He gestured toward a jet parked just outside. It wasn’t

Jess’s POV“Champagne-colored or black?” I raised the two beautiful gowns I had picked out from my closet in front of Maya.We had been going through my wardrobe the whole night and had just about 4 hours of sleep after finding nothing, but here we were again, searching another part of my closet we didn’t touch. It was 4 p.m., and Maya couldn’t decide.I had gone over to my shop earlier and passed out some instructions before leaving. My assistant was an angel; she always made my life easier on days like this.“That’s it, Jess, the champagne-colored dress is absolutely gorgeous. You don’t even need to try it on; I can already tell how well it’ll fit you.” She did a little dance, stomping her hands in a cheer and grinned widely. “Now, go get a bath so we can butter you up.”She pushed me lightly into the bathroom and shut the door. “Wow, I’m really doing this, aren’t I?” I sighed as I let the towel around my chest fall and got into the rosy bathtub water.I enveloped myself in scented

Jess’s POV“The wedding was horrible!” Dione said, and we burst out into laughter.Do you ever just bump into someone and have conversations like you’ve known each other for years? Well, that was Dione and I right now. We had been sitting and chatting so much that I completely lost track of time.“You said it was your sister’s wedding, right? So how come it was horrible?” I asked, staring him straight in the eye. Those dark brown eyes and lashes longer than Fiona’s real and fake lashes. He was breathtaking. This type of guy could lock me up in jail, and I wouldn’t dare ask why. His chiseled jawlines clenched tight even when he smiled; his dimples dug deeper than any I’ve seen. Talk more of perfect dentition and fresh mint breath. His choice of words carried aura and respect.“She got married to a dumb guy I had warned her not to marry. It’s a long story, but trust me, this guy’s not worth it.” He turned to me and smiled, showing me his perfect teeth. If he says the guy wasn’t worth hi

Jess’s POV We left the hospital with the hope that Fiona wouldn’t get to see John. This had been the second longest and most confusing day of my life, and all I wanted was to go home and hug Andrea tightly. The first was when I found out about my dad; the confusion I felt then was way more than what I feel now. “Where to, Miss Hart?” Frank inquired as he stared at me from the driver’s mirror. “Let’s go home,” I replied, and he nodded, “right away, ma’am.” Maya had been focused on her phone all the way to the house. “Girl, who are you seriously texting?” I snapped my fingers in her face, trying to get her attention. She looked up at me, and her face lit up with excitement. “Okay, I know this might be a bad time for this, but I’ve found you the perfect boyfriend.” What a random statement at a time like this. Classic Maya. “Do you need a check-up? What does a new boyfriend have to do with me at this point?” I shot her a glance. “Come on, girl, don’t look at me that way. Remember ou

Jess’s POV “Let’s go, Rob, we can’t wait for an ambulance when we have a car!” John yelled as they struggled to lift Jordan up. In one go, they lifted him and rushed out of the door. I had been standing on the same spot, unable to speak, react, or do anything. I couldn’t understand what was happening. “Girl, are you okay?” Maya patted my shoulder. We were the only ones left in the room, but I couldn’t find my speech. “I think we should follow them, just to make sure he’s fine,” Maya suggested, and I nodded. We rushed out of the office and got to the back entrance, where the guards were helping put Jordan in the backseat of his car. “Frank, get the car ready. We’re following them,” Maya yelled as he nodded and left. I watched John get into the driver’s seat and speed off as Frank brought my car. “Here, Miss Hart,” he said as he opened the doors for Maya and me. He quickly got in as well and followed directly behind Jordan’s car. My nails dug deep into my thighs as I fel

  • After One Night    Chapter 70

Jess’s POVAfter the Fiona incident earlier, I thought I had seen it all, only for me to set eyes on the man I didn’t want to see, not even in a million years to come. He stood there, his eyes piercing through my body, stuttering, and unable to form a proper sentence. When one of my bodyguards had walked in, saying there was a man named John looking for me at the back entrance, I was taken aback. There was only one John I knew, and he was dead, so was this a prank?I quickly excused myself from the customers I had been attending to and pulled Maya away as well. “Which John?” she asked as I explained it to her. “Jess, do you need some rest? You’ve been working all day; I fear it’s beginning to affect your memory,” she teased as always.“Well, there’s only one way to find out if it’s really him or not,” I said, and she rolled her eyes. “John’s dead, Ella. Tell the guard to tell the imposter outside that he should get lost, as simple as that.”“Frank, can you describe the guy?” I turned

  • After One Night    Chapter 69

Jordan’s POV Nothing made sense to me at this point. I couldn’t still believe the woman I was told that I had loved before losing my memory was the same woman I was fantasizing over, some months back. “Bro, we can go now. The car’s ready.” Rob announced as we made our way out of my office and in to my car at the parking lot. My brain spun with thousands of questions and doubts. What if she doesn’t want anything to do with me? Or what if she doesn’t let me see my kid? I know I didn’t speak nicely to her before, but I hope she understands that I wasn’t myself. Getting shot in the head is not like tossing candy to kids. It’s terrifying. Jerome drove while John sat in the passenger’s seat and Rob sat next to me at the back. We had been moving for about 15 minutes now and I couldn’t help but feel more nervous than usual. “John,” I called, and he looked at me over his shoulder. “Do you think she’ll want to see me?” “No boss, she definitely wouldn’t want to

  • After One Night    Chapter 68

Third Person’s POVFiona had one of the worst days of her life. She’s to be divorced, meets her arch-enemy, and now is being threatened by a man she thought would do her bidding for as long as he lived. She had driven to her brother’s place, and the entire time, she couldn’t help but scream at the top of her voice. “If fucking Daniel thinks he can threaten me, then he’s lost his mind. With the brothers I have, he’ll disappear faster than he cums.”Once parked in front of Jake’s condo, she got out, making her way towards the door as her heels clicked against the pavement.“About time. Jake, the witch is here, and she looks like an overly ripe tomato,” Jim chuckled as he set his eyes on Fiona, who had made her way in already.“I honestly don’t have time for your jokes today, Jim. There’s a lot we have to deal with, and now!” she said as she threw herself on a sofa in the living room.Jim chuckled. “We?”Fiona raised a brow and shot him a dangerous glance. “Yes, we.”“Hold up, I thought

Third Person’s POV Fiona had driven off for a while before pulling her car over to make a call. She pulled out her phone with one hand while clenching her fist with the other. She put the phone on loud speaker as the person she was calling answered. “Yes Fiona, have you shopped to your satisfaction?” It was Jake. “Ella is back Jake, that bitch is back and she’s rich suddenly. She fucking owns Glossy Pearls.” Fiona yelled. “You’re kidding, right?” Jake chuckled. “Do I sound like I’m in the mood to play around? You guys are never serious.” She spat. “Calm down Fiona, you’ve just been yelling the entire day. Give it a break. Why don’t you come to my place, and we’ll talk about what’s bothering you. Okay?” Jake said. “It turns out I’m an unlucky female. All the men in my life are dickheads. You know what, I’ll go blow off some steam first. See you later.” She brought the phone closer to her mouth and yelled. “Fiona, I…” Jake tried to say, but she ended the call immediately

Jordan’s POV It was past noon, and we were waiting for the results of Ella’s whereabouts. The tracker Mr Jones glanced up from his laptop. He gave me a reassuring smile and continued his work, but a smile wasn’t what I needed. I needed answers. “Boss, do you really believe ma’am Fiona will sign those documents and leave the house today?” Jerome asked. At first I would have condoned Fiona’s attitude and disrespect, but not this time. “If she doesn’t leave on her own, then I’ll make her leave forcefully.” “Mr Denver, I’ve found it!” the tech guy yelled. “Unfortunately, it’s in London.” “London?” I exclaimed “Yes Sir.” He nodded. “That can’t be right. Ella had a pending case. If she’s in London, does that mean someone dismissed the charges?” Jerome asked as he pinched his creased brows. “Probably because there was no substantial evidence against her. I guess she decided to leave the country to stay away from me.” I said through clenched teeth. “No Jordan, to stay away
