Chapter 11

Fiona’s POV“Fiona?”“Yes?” “Are you okay?” I stared at the mug of scalding sweet coffee next to me, dazed. I was dazed. What was he doing here? He had no business in the kitchen. Unease slithered deep in my guts like rattle snakes. The sweet coffee I sipped earlier tasted like bile. I could feel the sleep deprivation taking over. That’s the only thing that could explain why Jin was in the kitchen at the break of fucking dawn, preparing breakfast nonetheless! He made me a cup of coffee for goodness sakes. Suddenly, I felt ill. The strong urge to vomit crawled up my throat, threatening to explode from my mouth like a missile. I imagined emptying the measly contents of my stomach over the cup of coffee and the ingredients for the Luna’s breakfast and didn’t think neither of them would appreciate the mess. I imagined Jin forcing my face down, forcing me to clean up the putrid mess I made with my tongue, or something equally vile and disgusting—and shuddered in repulsion. A gentle han

Chapter 12

Fiona’s POV“ No! It’s not like that.” I cried, shaking my head frantically in denial.” When I came down this morning, Jin was already—” “ Shut up you manipulative whore!” The Luna yelled, hatred and rage brimming in her eyes. “Silence! Another word from your lying tongue and I’ll rip out your mouth.”“Watch your tongue, mother!” Jin warned stonily, anger sipping from his tensed frame in waves. But his mother ignored him. “You think you can easily weasel your way into becoming a Luna. You may have my son fooled with your innocent act, but not me. I see you for the vile creature you are. The only thing your disgusting identity is worth being is that of a nanny.” She snapped. Tears filled my eyes at her cruel words and quickly blinked them away. But the more I blinked, the more they flowed. I tried and failed to connect the woman who saved me on the day of my parent’s death to the woman glaring at me with open hate. I wanted to ask her what I did deserve her hate. Why not matter what

Chapter 13

Fiona’s POV“I don’t want to go to school with you.”The sounds of cutlery against the ceramic plates seized abruptly. The silence heavy with uncertainty but I refused to back down. “Excuse me?” Jin asked, his tone mild. “I don’t want to go to school with you.” I repeated firmly, meeting his gaze squarely. His intense stare almost made me squirm but I held my ground. The mere thought of being in the same space as Jin made me ill with panic. Different scenarios played in my head at the thought of us riding together to school, or the rumors that with circulate at the thought of me with Jin. The disaster with Helena and her group at last night’s party was still fresh. And there was no way I’ll be caught with alone with Jin. The bullying would be ten times worse. Not to mention now that I have a literal target on my back. Helena and her minions want my blood. “Why?” Jin questioned, setting down his spoon before leveling me a cool stare. “I just don’t want to.” I replied with equal ca

Chapter 14

Fiona’s POVWith Jin’s threat hanging between us like an oppressive fog, I remained silent, zoning out Jin’s presence, zoning out the fear and anxiety crippling me, and stared outside to the scenery zooming past us. I was tired and the urge to speak wasn’t there. My mind revisited the scene in the kitchen and the party last night, replaying everything until it merged into a dizzying blur that left me reeling. Or maybe it was just my exhaustion talking. I thought about getting a quick shut-eye then remembered who I was in the car with and thought better of it. There was no telling what was going through that bleak mind of his and I wanted nothing more than to get to school in one piece, both physically and mentally. But the ambience and silence of the car was so soothing and comforting that I let my drooping eyelids slide close.I wish my life was like this, silent and peaceful. Just drifting away from everything until I was —The car was thrown into brakes unexpectedly and I almost c

Chapter 15

Fiona’s POVJin arched a confused brow. “What does it look like I’m doing? I’m driving to the parking lot.”“Why didn’t you park in the other one?” I asked, the bouncing of my leg picked up speed. “I want to park here?”Why? So they can all glare at me? I was already hated enough before, I didn’t need to add more to it. I imagined what would happen if people saw me and Jin stepping out of the car together—or God forbid if Helena or one of her minions saw me. “Stop me here. Fucking stop or I swear I’ll jump out of this car, consequences be damned!”“Don’t be stupid.” Jin chided, eyeing me warily.“Wanna bet?” I asked, hooking a finger over the door leveler, a frantic light entering my eyes. The funniest thing was, I was actually prepared to do it. I’d rather plummet to my death than face the thousand eyes waiting for me the moment I stepped out. I’ve lived my life with my head down and I wasn’t going to change it just because some dickhead had an epiphany on how to become a good perso

Chapter 16

Fiona’s POVI kept thinking about that walk-in I had with Jin and no matter how much I tried, I couldn’t get his words out of my head. The fact that he had the nerve to act all possessive had me scoffing at the absurdity of it all. Not to mention the underlying threat in his voice which left room from little doubt that he’d carry it out. If what the four of them were saying was the truth, then how was I to avoid the other three? I could try to hold off Soren and Kai, but Lyn? There was no way. Lyn was unhinged. A monster who acted on his dark impulses with little to no regret. This was something that I had experienced first hand. Had Kai and Jin not stopped him, he would have had his way with me regardless and there will be no consequences on his part.He was an alpha, and I was an omega. A no one and the scorn of the pack.I didn’t notice the numerous stares leveled at me from all corners until it was too late. The whispers and the snickers and the snide comments. I realized with inc

Chapter 17

Fiona’s POV“What is going on here?”My heart dropped to my stomach at the sound of Jin’s voice, dark and angry, and I instantly froze in fear and panic. Oh, God. Please no… I could feel his angry gaze stabbing into my back without looking at him. Is didn’t need to. My crippling anxiety and fear had me rooted on the spot. This has been another level of shit show that I was hoping to avoid. Everything within me screamed at me to run. To abandon everything. But it didn’t matter how much or long I ran, I’ll be caught. This was my dreaded fate.A large hand clamped over my right shoulder and forcefully maneuvered me to stare into Jin’s eyes lit with wild possessive anger. I inwardly cursed myself for not running away from the auditorium fast enough and I cursed Lyn and Jin for a truly shitty morning. I was really looking forward to an uneventful day.“I asked you a question and I deserve an answer.” Jin gritted out. What did he want to hear? Our heated argument made me late for the fir

Chapter 18

Fiona’s POVI knew it was over the moment Lyn punched Jin. It was inevitable. Like a ticking time bomb waiting to explode. Then it started—raw, ugly, and vicious. Lyn’s knuckles collided with Jin’s jaw, the crack of impact sending a shiver through the air. Jin retaliated immediately, slamming his elbow into Lyn’s ribs, his movements sharp and feral. A guttural roar erupted from Lyn as he tackled Jin, and the two hit the floor in a violent tangle of limbs. The sound of fists striking flesh was sickening, like dull meat being slapped against stone. Blood spattered onto the polished wooden stage as one of them—Lyn, I think—landed a solid punch that split Jin’s lip wide open. The auditorium erupted into chaos. Chairs screeched against the floor as people scrambled to move away from the escalating brawl. Some shouted, their voices indistinct in the cacophony, while others fumbled with their phones, their glowing screens capturing every savage second. The once-cozy glow of stage lights now

Chapter 19

Fiona’s POVWhen Soren was eight years old, he had his personal servant mauled to death by a bear. He had them coat her with honey and at his orders they released the wild bear and he watched as she was torn apart…all because she had not served him his breakfast early. This had been dismissed as a mere rumor but I had a source who proved otherwise. Soren Drakemere, the second son of the formidable Drakemere lineage, carried himself with an air of quiet solemnity that set him apart from his peers. Born into a family renowned for their strategic cunning and unshakable loyalty to the Blackthorn Pack, Soren bore the weight of an unusual legacy. His father, Alaric Drakemere, was a figure of legend—both revered and feared—while his older brother, Caelian, was the golden heir, the warrior who could command a room with a single glance. Soren, on the other hand, was an enigma, a man whose presence was felt rather than heard.Though destined to inherit leadership of the Blackthorn Pack, Soren

Chapter 20

Fiona’s POV“So choose which out of the four monsters will be your mate.”My heart pounded heavily as blood rushed my ears in a loud roar, the noise in the background faded to a distorted cacophony of sounds as his words sank in. The darkness in his voice raced fearful shivers down my spine. Although Soren said those words with a soft, harmless smile, there was a fierce look in his eyes—one that mirrored the underlying darkness in his voice—which made me shudder and a little scared. Unconsciously, I took a few steps back, and Soren's gaze remained fixed on me with this feverish wildness like a predator spotting it’s prey.I needed to get out of here. Fast. So I did. Without a word I turned and walked away hastily, ignoring the fact that I had just left Soren standing. Ignoring the panic and fear that he might follow behind me in his usual stalkerish manner. And yet I hoped he wouldn’t. I couldn’t face him again. Moreover, we have no reason to talk anymore. The fight was already over.
