Chapter 51

Kit’s POV “No! No! No!” My sister now cried out, as I made my way into my father’s bedroom, pausing at the foot of his bed when my eyes found the reason for her screams and cries. My father looked as if he was now at peace, as his body lay there still, with his eyes closed, telling me that he had passed from our world. Frozen, not able to move, I stood there staring at him, praying that my sister had given him the news of our family’s name being restored before he had passed. My sister’s sobs now filled the room, as Ms. Caroline and a handful of my father’s servants came running into the bedroom, hearing her cries. Ms. Caroline immediately ran to my sister, wrapping her arm around her, trying to comfort her, as it was clear she knew our father was gone too. My father’s servants moved to his bedside as one leaned over him, listening for a heartbeat, but quickly stood back up, shaking his head, letting everyone in the room know that he was

Chapter 52

Kit’s POV For the last twenty-four hours, I had distracted myself with everything I could that needed to be done with my father’s funeral and started the process of dealing with my father’s estate. It wasn’t hard to find myself in over my head with everything that now needed to be done, and I was so thankful for the distraction, because it kept my mind away from the dark place it had been heading. But now as I got dressed for my father’s funeral, the emotions were all flooding back to me, and I knew that I couldn’t run from them, but I needed to make it through the day. I couldn’t show any signs of weakness, especially at my father’s funeral in front of the pack members that chose to come to lay my father to rest.Worried filled me that my father’s funeral would be left unseen by so many members of the pack since Dom had ruined my family’s name, and I was sure that the word hadn’t spread that Dom restored it, in such little time. My sister would once ag

Chapter 53

Kit’s POV “What is wrong with you?” My sister asked me as I moved inside the viewing area, knowing that it was time for our father’s viewing to start. It was clear that she had pulled herself together, and had reapplied her makeup, because I couldn’t see a single sign telling me that she was a mess not too long ago. Looking at her husband that was now standing off to the side speaking to one of the greeters, I knew without a doubt that he made her pull herself together, to save their own name and face among the pack members when they arrived. It was clear even under Dom’s leadership this pack hadn’t changed, and I couldn’t wait to get the hell out of here, but right now, I had to hold it together and lay my father to rest.“I’m just a little tired.” I said to her, because it wasn’t a lie, but then it wasn’t actually the truth either. After finding out that Dom had paid for our father’s funeral expenses, I began to worry if he would be making an appearance today, which

Chapter 54

Kit’s POV Closing my eyes, I took a deep breath, trying to compose myself, as unwanted emotions began to flood my mind. It was as if seeing the two of them together like this sparked jealousy inside of me, and I knew that it had to be the mate bond causing it. Plus, my wolf had awakened from the sight of them holding hands, and I had to try and keep her at bay, as images of ripping this girl’s arm off came to me for touching our mate, from my wolf. If I ever needed Alpha Jace, it was at this moment, because right now I needed someone standing beside me as my mate to calm me from my evil thoughts. But he was thousands of miles away, and I knew I was on my own. Taking one last breath, I opened my eyes, daring not to look at Dom, as I looked back at Luna Rebeca, and said to her, “Thank you, Luna Rebeca for your condolences. You must forgive me for my delay in me presenting myself to you. My mind has been preoccupied.” “Do no

Dom’s POV Guilt plagued me even more as I saw the way meeting Luna Rebeca affected Kit, and even though she says she wants nothing to do with me, there was no doubt in my mind that was further from the truth, as I felt the spark between us, stronger than ever. I was wrong all those years ago to let her go for the sake of my pack, and not a day has gone by that I haven’t lived with that regret, especially since the Moon Goddess has frowned down on me, leaving me without an heir to the pack.Everything that I had done out of duty, has led me to a depressing life, one filled without love and companionship, but instead filled with regrets and loneliness, living a lie in front of all the pack members. Even though we put on a good show in front of the pack members’ eyes, that is all it is. A façade to make everyone think that all is well with the relationship of their Alpha and Luna, but in these last couple of years there have been rumors of my unfortunate union, and we wer

Chapter 56

Kit’s POV It’s crazy how one can go from feeling all alone in this world, to feeling invincible with the right person beside them. I never wanted to be like those of my father’s pack, worried about appearance and most of all status, but right now, I wasn’t going to lie, it felt nice having Alpha Jace beside me as we walked back into the funeral home. For some reason, he gave me a sense of safety, and I felt like no one in the room would dare to touch me or judge me, like they have for so many years. As we stepped inside, all eyes moved to us, as Alpha Jace’s presence dominated the room, and it didn’t take long for my eyes to land directly on Dom, who stood there staring at me, in what looked like utter shock and disbelief. Moments ago, I had to deal with the heartache of seeing him with his new Luna, and right now, he was getting to feel the same emotional rollercoaster I had been forced to feel, with seeing me on the arm of another Alpha.

Chapter 57

Kit’s POV Last night I had slept the best I had since I had arrived here, knowing that Alpha Jace was within the walls of my father’s home. Feeling rejuvenated from last night’s sleep, I went downstairs to join Damian and Alpha Jace for breakfast, now that my appetite seemed to have returned. But as I began to make my way down the stairs, I froze when my eyes focused on the luggage by the front door. There was no doubt in my mind who the luggage belonged to, but why was he leaving so soon after just arriving. Composing myself, I moved towards the dining room, where I could hear Damian super excited, telling stories of his time here with his cousin to Alpha Jace, who was sitting at the head of the table, just like he always did back home. Alpha Jace’s eyes moved to me as I entered the room, and I moved to his side as if following unspoken orders, taking a seat next to him, as I remained silent, letting Damian finish his story to Alpha Jace.

Chapter 58

Kit’s POV A few days had passed, and I felt like I was never going to be finished with all the paperwork on my father’s estate, let alone dealing with my father’s physical property. I wanted to make sure everything was legally done, before I even touched a single item at the estate to pack up, and in all honesty, I had no clue what to even do with it afterwards. The house was now empty, as there was no need for my father’s servants anymore, other than the grounds keeper, who said he would be by to take care of the lawn when needed. Ms. Caroline of course stopped in daily to check up on me, and I knew it was because she felt like I was in need of her, and to be honest, it was nice having someone to talk to. Damian of course was more than happy to see her, as she brought him not only cookies, but she also began to bring her grandson to visit with her, giving Damian someone to play with. As we sat outside on the back patio, watching the boy

Chapter 59

Kit’s POV “What are you doing here?” came from my lips before I could stop it, as I couldn’t believe that he was here, especially after he knew how awkward I felt at the funeral, meeting his Luna. “I just stopped by to see if you needed any help dealing with your father’s estate. I know that the paperwork can be a bit overwhelming, and I thought I would see if you would like some of my expertise, since paperwork seems to be my thing now days.” Dom says to me as if he wasn’t taken off guard by my rudeness. To tell the truth it would be nice having someone that knows what they are reading, instead of me having to look up every other word to know what the sentence is referencing to. But I knew that I couldn’t accept his help, because I couldn’t allow myself to be around him for that amount of time. “Thank you for your offer, but I got it under control.” I told him, as I remained standing in the doorway not allowing him to co

Chapter 60

Kit’s POVAs I peered into the room, I stood there for a moment watching him now behind my father’s desk, just as I used to watch my father from afar, working long hours behind it. It was sad to think about packing up this room that was filled with all my father’s personal possessions he held dear to him, but I knew eventually that it had to be done.Seeing Dom sitting there now instead of my father, resurfaced what he had done for my father just a few days ago. In the end, Dom did the honorable thing by my father, or at least he was trying to make up for what he knew he had done wrong.“Are you going to stand there watching me, or are you going to bring me those cookies?” Dom asked as he looks up from the paperwork in front of him, giving me a smirk. My cheeks slightly redden as Dom busted me staring at him, but it wasn’t what he was thinking at all. Moving towards my father’s desk, I say to him, “Sorry, seeing you in here at my father’s desk brought back old memories of my father, a
