With very slow, deliberate steps, Nora started walking toward Alpha Blake, her shoulders shaking hard with the effect of her tears. Gwen’s POVThe next morning, I woke up to find out that the bed was empty, cool sheets being a blatant reminder that Alpha Blake was gone. A flicker of disappointment washed over me. I had hoped to wake up and have him right beside me, his presence a kind of comfort in the storm of emotions that swirled around us.I slowly sat up, stretched, and tried to wave away the remnants of sleep. The rows and tentative steps toward peace of the previous day replayed themselves in my mind. It felt like a fragile peace, one that could shatter with the slightest pressure.
