Gwen’s POV

The next morning, I woke up to find out that the bed was empty, cool sheets being a blatant reminder that Alpha Blake was gone. A flicker of disappointment washed over me. I had hoped to wake up and have him right beside me, his presence a kind of comfort in the storm of emotions that swirled around us.

I slowly sat up, stretched, and tried to wave away the remnants of sleep. The rows and tentative steps toward peace of the previous day replayed themselves in my mind. It felt like a fragile peace, one that could shatter with the slightest pressure. I couldn't help but wonder where Alpha Blake had gone so early in the morning.

Probably off dealing more pack business, I thought, sighing softly. It was clear the responsibilities of leadership weighed heavily on him, yet what could I do? It didn't mean I couldn't feel the pang of loneliness, and uncertainty.
