Gwen’s POV

I stood frozen, my heart aching as I watched the scene unfold before me.

With very slow, deliberate steps, Nora started walking toward Alpha Blake, her shoulders shaking hard with the effect of her tears. She looked so vulnerable, so broken that, for a moment, I almost doubted everything I knew about Nora.

Almost. I had hoped, perhaps naively, that Alpha Blake would see through Nora's act. But as Nora reached where Alpha Blake was, she threw her arms around him, and my heart sank.

Alpha Blake's facial expression was a mix of worry and perplexity as he spread his arms to accommodate Nora. She collapsed into them, her sobs muffled against his chest.

A stab of hurt and disappointment pierced through me. I had expected lots of things from Nora, but this display of vulnerability and manipulation, I never expected such.

"Nora, what's wrong?" Alpha Blake asked softly, his voice laced with concern. He reached out, stroking her hair in comfort.
