Chapter 61

SEKANI: "Ma'am, your right foot." I placed my right foot into the hands of the woman seated before me. She placed it on a plush footpad and began to apply a white coat of gel polish on my feet. I stared down at my nails, sighing and almost kissing her but I held back from doing that with everyone constantly staring at the CEO of Ultra Media. It was why I hated being here. The eyes. But with a nail tech this good, I could ignore a few hours of just letting them stare. Once I was done, I paid her, making sure I tipped her handsomely for a job well done. She waved me goodbye, along with the other women who were pretending not to have been staring at me. I also waved at them before walking out of the shop and making my way to the hairstylist. She didn't take much time, as my hair was still very well down. All she did was add a few highlights before I made my way out of the salon to my last stop which was the boutique. Two hours and several dresses later, I arri

Chapter 62

SEAN: Mya, after about an hour, could take a few laps with my supervision and just half a lap unsupervised. A few times, I'd caught her before she dropped to the bottom, bringing her back up as we both shared deep laughter. "I can do it, Daddy!" Mya slipped out of my hold and I relaxed, watching as she struggled to finish to the end. I floated right behind her and pulled her out of the water before sitting her on the concrete slab. "How are you both enjoying your swimming lessons?" Sekani asked, stepping out through the french doors with s towel hanging around her shoulders. She was fully dressed so I guessed she had brought the towels for either me or Mya. "Having fun, mum!" Mya called from where she stood. "I can now swim on my own, yayy!" "Oh, that's nice," Sekani replied, briefly glancing at me with an unreadable expression before she took a seat on the lounge. She was wearing a sundress that barely reached her knees. That way, I could peek at her flawless skin

Chapter 63

SEKANI: I woke up in a cold room and a blanket over my body. It was the comfiest I'd felt since I slept in this room. The room was dark, with light pouring out of the bathroom door that had been left slightly ajar. I could tell there was no one in the room because I didn't hear sounds of movements or the sorts. Sighing, I threw back my head and yawned the loudest before throwing back the covers and climbing out of the bed before I stepped into the bathroom to wash my face. From how damp the glass walls of the bathroom felt, I could tell that Sean had been in there moments ago. Pressing into the liquid face wash dispenser, I bent low and slathered it over my face before washing it off, drying it up with a towel, and leaving the bathroom. I slipped out of my old clothes and put on a clean pair of shorts and a tank top. I wasn't in the mood to wear anything restrictive. Just as I stepped into the hallway, the smell of something meaty cooking wafted into my nose. I

Chapter 64

SEKANI: Leaving the kitchen was a relief for me. I could still feel the tenseness in my bones as I set the cup on the table beside Mya who had now taken out her color book and was doing all the painting. I poured her half a cup of drink and handed it over to her, smiling when she leaned over to kiss me on the cheek. Then I sat back, handing suitable colors to her as I watched her paint. It was really a beautiful sight and I couldn't even hold back my smile as she continued to colour. And by the time we were almost done, Sean popped his head out to announce that he was done cooking, causing Mya to leave whatever she was doing and zip towards the kitchen. Sean hung around and I knew he did because I could feel his gaze on me as I faced the book before me and pretended not to see him. "Are you going to join us or do you want to keep avoiding me because of what happened back in the kitchen?" "I don't really care about that," I laughed, feigning interest in Mya's colo

Chapter 65

SEKANI: "I am going to tempt you so bad you find yourself crawling to me. You'll find yourself begging me to touch you. You'll find yourself sexually depraved. But until then, I guess you should start preparing to resist me." I shook those thoughts from my head. This was like the hundredth time I was thinking of it and I didn't know exactly how that made me feel. Or did I? No, I didn't. It wasn't desire or yearning I felt towards him. It was a surprise. Genuine surprised at what he had said. And no, I didn't stare at him for most of last night while he slept peacefully. I didn't find myself needing to crawl into his arms, knowing fully well he was going to sleepily pull me in. I also didn't find myself taking in his muscular build, tracing my eyes down his muscles and the crevices of his perfectly sculpted body. Instead, what I did was play candy crush to distract myself and in less than five minutes, I had fallen asleep but not after I had spent over an hour wat

Chapter 66

SEKANI: Sean was done in less than fifteen minutes. I was surprised at the speed he used in getting dressed. Well, all he wore was a pair of tracksuits with something similar on top. "You didn't tell me you're their new coach," I mentioned to him the moment we slipped into the car. All geared up like this would have mothers mistaking you for their coach. "But I am not," He shrugged and laughed. "Today's a Saturday and our daughter has a match. I only dressed this way in the spirit of today's match. I'm sure other fathers would dress this way too." "Oh, they won't," I laughed. "And they're never at the girls' football matches." Sean frowned. "Are you serious?" I nodded. "Yes. They don't think their daughters are worth watching. So it's always the mothers attending. The fathers only ever attend when it's their sons playing." "Totally sexist and patriarchal but let's not say anything about it." He shrugged and shook his head, shutting the door before he revve

Chapter 67

SEAN: Sekani could hide those emotions all she wanted but I could already tell that it affected her in ways I couldn't imagine. As much as she thought she was good at hiding whatever she felt, she was quite an open book when she was distracted and not looking. I could tell what she was thinking whenever she let her guard down which wasn't all the time. Well, the little I could hear from her was enough for me to know that this woman was an enigma. Mya ran out of a building, other girls behind her as they chattered loudly. Her eyes scanned the area and as soon as she saw us, her eyes widened and she broke into a sprint towards us, jumping over a large rock one of the coaches immediately grabbed from the way. "Mum! Dad!" She yelled over her voice and I took a step towards her and crouched to the floor before catching her by the arm and lifting her in the air. Her tiny arms tightened around my neck and she pressed her lips into my cheek before pulling away giggling.

Chapter 68

SEKANI: "I am her husband." Yvonne, the dark-haired mother of twins stared at me in surprise. Of course, she had to be. She was one of the women who heralded the fact of me not having a husband and probably paying men to sleep with me all thanks to the infinite money I had to splurge on such luxuries. I didn't even make a move to say anything to them. Sean seemed like the type to actually steer people when it came to conversations like this so I left it all to him. "Oh," Shannon replied, nodding her head. "We had no idea she had gotten married." "I heard," Yvonne nodded. "It was on the news but I didn't take it seriously. Wow, it's actually true. She really settled with someone. We all thought you were the type who didn't depend on a man." "Oh, no," Sean chuckled. "She still doesn't. She's very capable of taking care of things even in my absence. That's why I strive hard to do better every day. She's special to me so I work hard, I worship the ground she walks on

Chapter 69

SEKANI: I sat right beside Sean, staring at listening as he spoke to Mya. From the looks of it, he already caught the attention of two girls. Mya threw questions his way but all I did was just stare and listen to them chatter. Sheila sent emails a few times to remind me of the party held in the evening like she knew I was going to forget. She also sent the vote of thanks speech and a few other activities that were to be held on this night and while I went over it, Sean fed Mya from his plate and my plate of ice cream, all because she wanted to taste a different flavor. I wasn't too concerned about that as I was done with my ice cream. The dress I was to wear today didn't need me looking a size bigger than I usually was. "You can have my ice cream," I smiled and pushed the tub towards Sean who looked at me with raised brows. "Uhm, why are you looking at me like that?" He shrugged. "Is something wrong? You barely even had five spoons." "I have a party to attend toni

Chapter 70

SEKANI: "I don't want anyone in this room!" I called at the top of my voice, turning around as the fashion designer fitted my dress through my body. Three hours ago, I decided that I needed to wear something other than a plain black dress. I wanted to wear something flattering enough so I did the needful and called my fashion designer who came along with her makeup artist friend. Oh, it was nice to finally be surrounded by women who didn't speak to me like I was their boss. Greta had gushed over Sean, telling me he was a lucky catch. "Maybe second chances exist after all," She said to Olivia, her friend who was also the make-up artist. "I'll call it luck," Olivia replied with a nonchalant shrug. "Not a lot of people experience the same thing. It's a rarity to actually get back with the love of your life. And I also think Mya is a contributing factor." Greta rolled her eyes. "Of course, she is, dumbass. But did you see the way he looked at Sekani when she wal
