Would the surprises ever end?

Adam's POV Give me a fucking break!  I had known the minute the paps stormed into the hall, asking questions and pretending not to be headed straight for us that Madeline had done it all again. This was definitely her work. She was nothing more than a conniving cheating bitch who would do anything and everything to make sure her goals were accomplished.   And she made sure I was one of those goals.   Fuck it! This was all mother's fault. She had brought Madeline back into our lives and made it possible for that leech to flourish. Perhaps I had been too complacent. Too fucking complacent. I should have made known what Madeline did to the public. Mother would understand and all of this would not be happening.   But hell how was I supposed to know she was going to work her way back into my life? I had thought she was gone for good.

Naughty maid

Adam's POV "What the fuck?!"  There was a half drained bottle of scotch on the center table. Some loud music was booming from somewhere. I couldn't decipher where it was coming from, mostly Because I was too damned shocked that anything I owned could make such a loud ruckus and because my maid stood at the center of it all- Dancing.   "Paula!" I snarled, watching the scene with gritted teeth. What the hell had come over her?! She had been my maid for barely a year but she had never, never done something like this.   The audacity to raid my cabinet was so surprising, it was almost hilarious. But what on earth was she doing wriggling around. It was almost eleven at night. She was supposed to be long gone.   Paula turned around, her blue eyes dazed as she took me in. Then she laughed, stumbling forward. "Mr Stone, you're home finally,"

Bumping into Madeline Black

Eve's POV "Get dressed!"  I looked up from the TV at Tom. He stood behind the sofa, a cold look on his face. There was that snarky look in his eyes. A look that made me want to run for my life.   "W-what?" I mumbled, trying to stop my hands from shaking. What did he want this time? Had I done something to offend him? I tried to think of what had possibly happened that day, but it was four in the evening and I had barely seen Tom until he arrived a few hours ago.   "I said, get dressed!" He snapped, looking like the next time he spoke, thunder would smack me right in the face.   I had barely seen him all day. He had been that way in the past few days. Ever since he had arrived that night, all bloodied and. Ever since the nightmares. I knew something was going on and it definitely had something to do with Barlow.   W

Daydreaming

Adam's POV  Eve.   Ah she was perfect, just perfect.    She laid there in my arms, peering up at me with those beautiful eyes. Blue. It was rapidly becoming my favorite color. I would love to see her swaddled in blue again.    Like at the Maxwell ball.   Blue, and beautiful and in the spell of some thirty minutes, utterly and completely mine. I hadn't known she was Eve Harrison back then. She was Eve. Just Eve.   My Eve.   This was a dream. I knew it because in reality, Eve wouldn't be here in my arms so freely. Her eyes would dart around in worry, hoping her bastard husband wouldn't catch her right in my arms. I hated it.   I hated being the other man. I hated being exactly what my father was. A cheater and a homewrecker.   &

Meeting with his mother

Adam's POV "Three meetings and you managed to fit one with Pierce?" I grumbled at Lillian as I marched towards the board room.   I had told her to fix three meetings for the day and move all other meetings forward. Yet she had managed to fix one with Pierce.   Fucking Pierce!  Dammit, after the not so savory conversation we had at the event the day before, I wasn't expecting to see him so soon. Besides fixing meetings with me took a longer time, I knew he had to have fixed that meeting before yesterday.   Hence it should be totally unrelated to his grudge. But it was Pierce we were talking about. The man would definitely try to pick on me about the project with Harrison.   "He had been vying for a meeting for three months," Lillian explained, walking behind me. "I had tried to cancel on him but he was having none o

Kimura, the artist

Eve's POV "That will be all, Mrs Harrison," The jerk of a doctor smiled at me and my skin crawled at the sight. Here was a man who was fine with me being Tom's punching bag. Tom had sent me off to the doctor for another 'check up'.   At this rate, I was certain he had me do regular check ups just so he could know if it was safe to bash me black and blue again.   And like a fool, I let it all happen. What could I possibly do now? Nothing, absolutely nothing.   "See you next time," he chirped and I pressed my lips into a thin line, rising on my feet.   He seemed so sure that there would be a next time. And I really couldn't blame him. After all, I lived everyday in fear that I could possibly do something that would infuriate Tom and he would 'teach me a lesson' as he would say.   Teach me a lesson, my foot.

Breaking free, bit by bit

Eve's POV "Is everything alright, ma'am?!"  I looked up at Bryan and nodded, unable to contain my excitement.   Kimura Hakira was coming to New York. This was the first time in a long while that he would be coming to NYC! The very NYC where I was in right now. I read through the poster, trying to ferret out the date.   "Today," I whispered, covering a hand over my mouth. Kimura was coming today. He would be unveiling new art pieces that no one had seen before in Manhattan. But he couldn't house everyone so they would be selling tickets to his exhibition.  As expected from a world class artist.   Oh I definitely wanted to see his artwork! I needed to. If I wanted to master portrait depiction before Adam's birthday. I wanted to blow his mind.   But how could I go? I looked up to see the stre

A close bond

Eve's POV "H-Hi, Anabelle," I smiled, feeling a rush of emotions pulse through me. Anabelle Stone. I hadn't expected in a million years that I would see her somewhere like this.   "Hello Eve," she greeted again. "Getting tickets to Kimura?"  "Yeah," I mumbled shyly, turning to face the salesman. "Two tickets please."  The tickets didn't cost so much, but it was still expensive. Getting two of them would leave a visible mark in my allowance. What would I do if Tom asked what I had spent them on? I'd better come up with the perfect lie for it as soon as possible or I would be doomed big time.    "Fancy seeing you here," She said, standing too close to me. People pressed behind us, wanting to get tickets too.   "Get out of the way if you won't be getting tickets!" Someone yelled behind us.  Anabel

In big trouble

Eve's POV "Mr Stone?" Anabelle guffawed. "Why so formal? Just call him Adam, like you do normally. Or what was that name you called him the first time we met? Something with a G?"  I blushed at her words and shook my head. There was no way I was telling her I had called Adam, Golden at some point. He had golden hair, who could blame me for calling him that?! And he hadn't told me his name, back then. I had automatically attached that name to him without thinking.   "Adam's been busy these days. I'd bet you miss days when you two get busy with each other."  She must have noticed the reddening of my cheeks because her taunting continued until the director raised his hand and as if controlled by magic, the curtains parted.   "Ready to see some Kimura wonder?" Anabelle whispered as we watched the Gallery get revealed before us.

The lie that saved her from another brutal beating

Eve's POV Crap! Whatever nerves I was trying to calm, they were shot again. Tom stood before us, raging. His eyes were wide with fury as he glared down at me. He hadn't changed out of his work clothes yet, I could safely assume that he hadn't been home for very long.   But what good would that assumption do for me? Nothing. Tom had gotten home before me. That was the problem.   "Where were you?!" He bellowed again and I tried to speak.   I really tried.   There was a lump stuck in my throat and I couldn't find the words. Where was I? What could I possibly say? After leaving the hospital, I went to see an art exhibition. That I had gotten carried away with Anabelle and hadn't checked my phone nor the time?   What could I possibly say that wouldn't result in us getting into more trouble?!
