Adam's POV
"Three meetings and you managed to fit one with Pierce?" I grumbled at Lillian as I marched towards the board room.
I had told her to fix three meetings for the day and move all other meetings forward. Yet she had managed to fix one with Pierce.
Fucking Pierce!
Dammit, after the not so savory conversation we had at the event the day before, I wasn't expecting to see him so soon. Besides fixing meetings with me took a longer time, I knew he had to have fixed that meeting before yesterday.
Hence it should be totally unrelated to his grudge. But it was Pierce we were talking about. The man would definitely try to pick on me about the project with Harrison.
"He had been vying for a meeting for three months," Lillian explained, walking behind me. "I had tried to cancel on him but he was having none o
Eve's POV"That will be all, Mrs Harrison," The jerk of a doctor smiled at me and my skin crawled at the sight. Here was a man who was fine with me being Tom's punching bag. Tom had sent me off to the doctor for another 'check up'.At this rate, I was certain he had me do regular check ups just so he could know if it was safe to bash me black and blue again. And like a fool, I let it all happen. What could I possibly do now? Nothing, absolutely nothing."See you next time," he chirped and I pressed my lips into a thin line, rising on my feet.He seemed so sure that there would be a next time. And I really couldn't blame him. After all, I lived everyday in fear that I could possibly do something that would infuriate Tom and he would 'teach me a lesson' as he would say.Teach me a lesson, my foot.
Eve's POV"Is everything alright, ma'am?!"I looked up at Bryan and nodded, unable to contain my excitement.Kimura Hakira was coming to New York. This was the first time in a long while that he would be coming to NYC! The very NYC where I was in right now. I read through the poster, trying to ferret out the date."Today," I whispered, covering a hand over my mouth. Kimura was coming today. He would be unveiling new art pieces that no one had seen before in Manhattan. But he couldn't house everyone so they would be selling tickets to his exhibition. As expected from a world class artist.Oh I definitely wanted to see his artwork! I needed to. If I wanted to master portrait depiction before Adam's birthday. I wanted to blow his mind. But how could I go? I looked up to see the stre
Eve's POV"H-Hi, Anabelle," I smiled, feeling a rush of emotions pulse through me. Anabelle Stone. I hadn't expected in a million years that I would see her somewhere like this."Hello Eve," she greeted again. "Getting tickets to Kimura?""Yeah," I mumbled shyly, turning to face the salesman. "Two tickets please."The tickets didn't cost so much, but it was still expensive. Getting two of them would leave a visible mark in my allowance. What would I do if Tom asked what I had spent them on? I'd better come up with the perfect lie for it as soon as possible or I would be doomed big time. "Fancy seeing you here," She said, standing too close to me. People pressed behind us, wanting to get tickets too."Get out of the way if you won't be getting tickets!" Someone yelled behind us.Anabel
Eve's POV"Mr Stone?" Anabelle guffawed. "Why so formal? Just call him Adam, like you do normally. Or what was that name you called him the first time we met? Something with a G?"I blushed at her words and shook my head. There was no way I was telling her I had called Adam, Golden at some point. He had golden hair, who could blame me for calling him that?! And he hadn't told me his name, back then. I had automatically attached that name to him without thinking."Adam's been busy these days. I'd bet you miss days when you two get busy with each other."She must have noticed the reddening of my cheeks because her taunting continued until the director raised his hand and as if controlled by magic, the curtains parted."Ready to see some Kimura wonder?" Anabelle whispered as we watched the Gallery get revealed before us.
Eve's POVCrap! Whatever nerves I was trying to calm, they were shot again. Tom stood before us, raging. His eyes were wide with fury as he glared down at me. He hadn't changed out of his work clothes yet, I could safely assume that he hadn't been home for very long. But what good would that assumption do for me? Nothing. Tom had gotten home before me. That was the problem."Where were you?!" He bellowed again and I tried to speak.I really tried. There was a lump stuck in my throat and I couldn't find the words. Where was I? What could I possibly say? After leaving the hospital, I went to see an art exhibition. That I had gotten carried away with Anabelle and hadn't checked my phone nor the time? What could I possibly say that wouldn't result in us getting into more trouble?!
Author's Pov"You can't tell me this isn't going so well,"Madeline Black's voice rang loud and clear from the phone on the counter. John stared blankly at it, listening to her rant about how well their plan seemed to be working.Their plan?More like his plan.He sat by the kitchen counter, staring down at the phone and listening to Madeline's annoying voice, trying to keep his nerves in check, as well as his temper."... And now, I'm going to the Harpoon industries, representing the old hag. How cool is that?!"Of course, she would find it cool, John thought with a snigger. Only Madeline Black would find it cool that she was fooling an entire family."Very cool," he droned in a monotonous voice. If the bitch on the other end took note of his bor
Author's POVJohn dropped the CD back into the drawer and ran his hands through his hair. So much talk for so little. He couldn't reveal the contents of the CD to the press, they would be within Madeline's reach. The chances that Adam would see them before Madeline tampered with them would be low.And besides, something as huge as that? Madeline would know he was responsible for it. Especially since he had handed her the flash drive saying that was the original copy. The thing was, John wasn't stupid. When he had gone to Adam's mother's birthday party, he had gone with the sole aim of finding his way back into Madeline's life. He couldn't exactly come back begging to be in her life. That would have proven suspicious and besides he didn't think he could do that without losing control and doing something like bash her head against the wall. And so he had gone w
Adam's POV"It's late Mr Stone," Lillian groaned, pushing the door to my office, a tired look on her face. "I could swear I have been pushing buttons around forever!""You can leave if you want to Lillian," I told her, tearing my eyes off her disgruntled face and focusing on the market analysis before me. I had so many projects on the line, but the market didn't seem like it would get any easier to understand.I could see the worry etched on Lillian's face as she hesitated by the door. It was clear that she wanted to leave, but duty kept her rooted to the spot. Not that I wanted to keep her here any longer. But the stocks, and I needed important files that only she could access because she had arranged them in the first place. She had to know that I would disturb her with calls if she left at such a crucial moment. With a heavy sigh, she finally spoke, "I'd like to stay a little longer, i
