Chapter Sixty

Arian Our day of fun was ruined and the sexual tension that had sizzled between us was long gone as well. Gabriel had driven home in silence and I didn't bother making small talk either because I was still reeling from Mrs Cruz's apology. If I'd not saved her son, she might have blamed me for the shooting and she'd have done everything in her power to get me out of her son's life but I'd saved him so I was her heroine - for now.By dinnertime, I'm out of my mood but Gabriel is still very much silent and his attitude makes me wonder if I did or said anything I wasn't supposed to earlier at the hospital. I don't ask him any questions until we're getting ready for bed and despite the awareness that there won't be any kinky fuckery going on tonight, I expected him to pull me close like he usually does but he just turns his back to me, mutters a bland goodnight and turns off the lights.I stare at the ceiling, fuming about his childish behavior even though I don't have any right to. He'

Chapter Sixty One

Gabriel I can't exactly say that I have telepathy but it would seem so because every time I get home from work rather early or just unexpectedly early, I'd find either my mom or my sister harassing Arian. It has only happened once before but a second time is making it too much and I won't stand for it."What's going on here?" I shut the front door and make my way over to the two women. There's a white envelope lying on the floor between them so I reach down and pick it up. "What's this?""Nothing." Gabi tries to snatch it from me but I turn my hand away at the right moment. She's acting really suspicious and I wonder just what she's come to say to Arian that hadn't been said before."It's something if you're shaking like this." I open the flap of the envelope and turn it over on my palm and a slip of paper slides out of it. I know what it is before I even turn it over and I lift my head to glare at my sister."It's not what you think." She mutters. "I was only trying to be of help."

Chapter Sixty Two

ArianSomething feels off as Kary and I walk into the house but I can't put my finger on it. We meet Kelly pacing to and fro in the hallway with her hands folded and one finger in between her teeth. I can tell she's really anxious by the way she's biting down hard on that finger and I wonder what has her so agitated."Kelly, what's wrong?" I ask her."It's Mr Cruz." Her voice comes out shaky."What about my daddy?" Kary's eyes widens. "Is he alright?"Kelly glances at Kary worriedly and the expression on her face makes my heart race in my chest. I'd left the house to go and pick up Kary from school with Micah and Gabriel had gone on to his bedroom to change into casual clothes after his swim. He'd been smiling at something silly that I'd said and he'd even called to tell me that I could get ice cream for Kary if she requested for one."Um... Kary, why don't you go upstairs and wait for me?" I ask her. "I'll be with you shortly.""But, Papa..." She frowns."Your father is fine." I assu

Chapter Sixty Three

Gabriel The speed at which Arian flies off my lap to put on her clothes makes me laugh even though there's nothing to laugh about, but having the best sex with the most amazing woman to have ever lived would do that to any man. Make him feel like he had absolutely nothing to fear in this world and I am a recipient of that feeling. I don't think I want anything or anyone to mar this euphoria I'm feeling right now, so it's with deliberate slowness that I put on my clothes and head to the door to open it but Arian stops me in my tracks with her hands on my arm and her eyes round like saucers. "Is there any way to get out of here without your father seeing me?" She whispers. "Why?" I frown. "I'd rather he doesn't know what we've been doing in here." She mutters. "He already knows about us." I inform her as dad bangs on the door this time. "He does?" She's shocked. "Don't worry about it." I tell her and unlock the door. It flies open and we stumble back to avoid being hit but dad

Gabriel It has been two weeks since I talked to Gabi and I've missed her. She's after all, my twin and we have a bond that can't be severed by anything. I've been trying to reach out to her or Simon but to no avail. It's as if both of them decided to boycott me or something and I can understand that they're still mad at me for what I did but it's not fair to me that all fingers are pointing at me as the bad guy here.Men sleep with women who aren't their wives or girlfriends all the time and no one calls them out on it. I don't even see my family members calling Lucille out on her infidelity but I do it and they're hell bent on making me end what I have with Arian.I did not tell anyone about the migraines I've been having lately and the over the counter drugs I've been taking don't help at all. I don't want to add to Arian's problems by falling ill so I told Kim to book an appointment for me with my doctor and here I am, two days later, with the hope that whatever drugs he'd prescri

Chapter Sixty Five

ArianIt's been a week since I saw Gabriel, since I heard about the shooting incident and I've been praying for his recovery and also hoping it wasn't a life threatening injury he sustained. Kary has been staying with her grandparents since he was admitted in the hospital so I've been freer than a bird, with nothing to do except to read, help out in the kitchen and read again."Arian!" Kelly calls, bursting through the patio doors with a smile on her face and the wireless receiver in her hand. "Here!" She passes the phone to me."Who is it?" I ask."Take a guess." She winks at me then turns and hurries back inside.I stare at the receiver, eye it suspiciously for a second before I put it to my ear gingerly and take a deep shaky breath. I calm myself with the knowledge that Rafael doesn't know that I'm here and I speak into the phone."Cruz residence." I say."Arian, it's Gabriel." An unspeakable joy floods my soul upon hearing his voice and I burst into tears - happy tears. I knew I'

Chapter Sixty Six

Gabriel "Are you happy now?" I ask Gabi. "You wanted to show me that she doesn't care about me and you did. Are you satisfied?""I didn't do it for me. I did it for you." She states. "Are you so blinded by her that you can't see she'll never love you?""I know that." I hiss through gritted teeth. Her mouth drops open in shock. "And you still want to go ahead with this ridiculous thing you have going on with her?""You told her that it's none of your business so stay out of it." I snap. "Why are you even here? Aren't there projects for you to tackle at work or am I your project? Make Gabriel see how much of a fool he is?""There's no need for you to be so cruel." She says. "I'm here because I care about you.""You have a funny way of showing it." I let out a derisive snort. I grab hold of the IV pole and use it to heave myself up to my feet then I slowly make my way back to the bed and sit down on it."I'm sorry if you think my actions are hurting you." She says. "I just want the best

Chapter Sixty Seven

GabrielA week later "You're being followed, sir." The voice of one of my bodyguards fills the car. "It's a black Toyota Corolla without a license plate number."I look into my rearview mirror and see the car a few places behind me. I'd just left the hospital after being given the carte blanche by my doctor to resume activities - excluding weightlifting - for now. I can see the silhouette of a man in the driver's seat and I growl under my breath."Tail him. Make sure you don't lose him." I order. "I need to know who this fucker is.""Yes sir."I press down on the accelerator and the car shoots forward at a breakneck speed, leaving the other car way way behind me. I have a feeling that it's probably someone who has it out for me that wants me dead and all of my fingers are pointing to Vincent Harvey, but the idiot isn't in the country, so I can't accuse him of this face to face.I look back into the rearview mirror and grin when I see that I've managed to lose him. There's no way that

Chapter Sixty Eight

ArianPeople say they see their lives flashing before their eyes in the case of accidents and while I'm not involved in an accident of any kind... I can see my life flashing before my eyes right now. I'd always known I was bound to be alone forever but I never envisioned that I'd be capable of making a space in my heart for another person.I opened my heart to Kareena the same day she told me she loved me and it was that same day I vowed to stay with her for as long as she wanted me to. I just didn't imagine that I'd find her father so damn irresistible and end up sleeping with him, to the point where we'd get so caught up in each other and not have any regard for his daughter's feelings whatsoever. We shouldn't have done what we did, but it's too late to take it back. I mentally prepare myself for what is about to happen next - Kary's disgust towards my relationship with her father and the inevitable hatred she'd have for me afterwards."Well?" She prompts, staring at us with wide, c

Chapter Sixty Nine

Gabriel A week laterIt's been a few days since I returned from Germany and I've been finding it hard to see Kenneth. It's not like I don't want to see him - I do, but I'm just trying not to remember everything that he did to me all those years ago and to focus on this one thing he did. If I decide to punish him for what he did to me all those years ago... I'd kill him and end up in jail. Though, this time is no different.I already told dad about him after Rene and his colleague captured him and he promised to get me what I want from Kenneth; a confession and... possibly an apology. It is far-fetched, considering the type of person Kenneth is, but I'm holding out hope that he'd be so tortured by dad, that he'd beg for mercy and ask for forgiveness."We can't continue like this, Gabriel." Gabi's voice brings me out of my reverie.I turn my head to look at my sister in surprise, wondering when she walked into my office without me knowing. I press a button on the intercom to call my t
