Chapter Eighty

ARTHUR'S POV I preferred when it was just me in my study sipping on champagne. It allowed me to get my mind off things, of the things that sat before me now. I sighed. The council's hungry eyes never left mine, especially Edgar and Kelly. On usual days, I would consider myself a feminist but not today. I had to ask. "What are you doing here, Kelly?" She froze and then looked at me, her eyes flashed, then she hid it with a smile. "Hmmm. I am here because I am part of the council." "Since when? I know very well that I didn't permit it." I said and she looked at me intently then looked away. "Well, we had the opportunity to invite her as she had arrived, so I

Chapter Eighty-one

ELSA'S POVLetter in the mail for me? No one ever knew where I was, how could I be receiving letters? Nia and the maid that reported it sat there, I didn't want to be obvious that I was panicking, but I was. Gravely so."Are you sure that you did not see the person that sent this? Surely, if it was mailed today, then you could have seen it, yes?" I asked, praying that she had seen them. I hadn't read the letter, yet. I did not know its content and I wasn't eager to know."I did not see them, ma'am. But I'm sure you can still know if you wish, there should be a returning address." She said and I rolled my eyes. Nia chuckled at the obvious fact that the maid had just stated. "I know what a letter contains, crystal. Is there a CCTV camera on this premises?""Of course there are. This is a royal ground and the king needs all the extra eyes he can. The guards are not to be trusted, they doze off more than try should and sometimes on duty. Edward especially. After the last rogue attack on

Chapter Eighty-two

NIA'S POV I had not promised not to tell Arthur and I wouldn't have. If Elsa was being threatened then Arthur had to know if it was, no matter the problem or issue.  "Can we change the topic now? I'm not comfortable with us talking about this thing anymore." "Okay. Fine. Have you talked with Elton so far?" I asked and Elsa rolled her eyes, then averted her gaze. Scooting over to pull the buckle of her gold sandals that looked perfectly fine in my eyes. It was a diversion from the topic. Ever since my opening-up night with Silas, Elsa had been avoiding or worse, acting as though Elton did not exist and it didn't sit right with me. With each passing day, it started to feel like I didn't know her the way I would vouch I did when asked and it bugged me.

Chapter Eighty-three

ELSA'S POVAfter Nia had left I decided to take a bit of rest and make my back comfortable by laying down, but even though my back was no longer hurting from hunching for a few hours straight I just didn't feel the peace I thought I would. My mind kept on going to Elton and the revelation we had both made. Not like we knew we had something that deep and tragic in common. I still had the idea to catch the people that killed my parents and some people around them at the top of my to-do list and I didn't know if he was thinking in that direction too. I prayed he would. I carefully slipped on my sandals and straightened my cloth with my hands which surprisingly adhered to my command and immediately straightened them, making them look as good as new. I smiled at the dress, even though I had zero reason to at the moment. I was pregnant and had just had a short time before my belly would pop out and expose me, I still didn't have anything figured out. I just found someone else whose loved o

Chapter Eighty-four

ARTHUR'S POV Nia's stern voice and the topic she had just raised with it sent a chill down my back. Her brows were raised as though she was waiting for me to catch up with what she had to say. Edgar continued to sip the champagne that had been heavily dowsed with water to avoid us from getting drunk and give out the plan we had just come up with; to use the ceremony in making Elsa jealous and possibly convince her to say yes to me. I gestured with my hand for Nia to continue which she did, but not after sighing one more time. What she had to say must have been dangerous because she kept on sighing, it had me worried. "I think that we have to start looking forward to more attacks than just from the rogues." She said and stared from me to Edgar. "Why do you say that?" I asked,

Chapter Eighty-five

ELSA'S POV I was dismissed for now. That was until Edgar and Arthur knew what to do with the information I had just passed on to them. The information I could tell from their body language was pissing them off. I could not believe Nia had gone against what I had secretly begged her not to worry about. Now everyone's focus was on me and that was the last thing I needed. I was pregnant and had a month or so before the whole castle knew and Nia had unintentionally almost blown my cover. I didn't want anyone to notice that I was adding in some weight or that my boobs looked heavier than usual. My skin was glowing and my hair had never looked good, and that was good, I was ecstatic about that, I would love it more if the people around just thought that it was a manifestation of the good food I was indulging in here. And the milk too. A light knock on my door pulled me out of my thoughts. I silentl

Chapter Eighty-six

ELSA'S POVI and Nia laid there, no one said anything. I even had to touch my ribcage just to be sure that I was still breathing. Oh yeah, I was. Nia looked at me then cleared her airway and started getting up to, obviously, flee the scene. There was something unspoken there and if I was being correct I could also sense a smile coming on."What is with that look?" I whispered, not because I didn't want Arthur to think I was doing something wrong, I wasn't. But because I knew I didn't want to talk about him. And by that unresolved angst, I just felt, I knew very well that I should have finished that conversation I had going on with Nia."You sound ridiculous whispering right now. And also, why the hell is he on your doorstep by this time? I thought you said you both are not having sex?""What? A man shows up at your doorstep late at night and you're indulging in sexual intercourse with him? What kind of person do you think I am.""You believe we are keeping the Lycan king on his feet o

Chapter Eighty-seven

ARTHUR'S POV Kelly kept staring at me, eyes flashing. I was in no mood to talk about what she was bringing up but from the spitting colors her eyes were emanating, it was pretty obvious that she was not having that. "What is it?" "I just literarily said what the problem is, there must be some kind of voodoo at work here because it makes no sense," Kelly said, voice loud, stroking her chin in deep thought, she was thinking about it. I sighed loudly making her glare at me. "This is no voodoo, trust me. We are okay, I'm okay. Elsa does not need any spell on me. She does not need it." I said, smiling to myself. Forgetting that Kelly sat there, Ursula and Emily too, coupled up with Andrew and two members of the council,

Chapter Eighty-eight

ELSA'S POV Elsa this... Elsa that. I did not know why but it seemed like everyone was on for getting on my nerves. I had walked out on everyone just as the Lycan king was doing so because I was angry. Especially at him. Who chastens someone they claim to love in public? No one, that's who. It makes no sense. So instead of pacing or saying more words turned in by anger, I was in my bedroom, on top of my bed, and saddling in trying to calm myself down. "Elle, you gotta speak up at some point," Nia said, her voice reminding me that she was still there. I sat up and stared at her intently then shrugged. "I think I have nothing to say. Except, for a question. I have a question to ask." I said, not minding the fact that my voice was loud. I scratched my neck probably the same time

Chapter Eighty-nine

ELSA'S POV By the time Arthur left my room, it was three-fourteen Am so it was safe to say I had gotten no rest. At all. The answer he gave me was kind of encrypted and who doesn't hate that kind of answer? I love you, believe that. That he loves me does not give me all the assurance I needed. His ex-girlfriend with the enormous, silicone boobs was always trying to shove it down his throat, or on his face. It was always chilly around here and yet she cannot go a day without wearing crops with rips across it. Even on T-shirts, I still felt a bit cool. It was beginning to prove all the thoughts that had been going on through my head, yet everyone, especially Arthur thinks I'm being paranoid and jealous. Okay, jealous? A bit. But paranoid? The hell not. His sister was also not helping matters, she always had her guns out aiming at me. Always looking for a fight. Always making mean comments. About me, about everyone. Except for the men she wants on her bed, of course. Like Andrew. I wou
